Anyone going to the final game of the season on Saturday? Its an 8:00 pm start and I confirmed with my membership contact person that they will be playing the Texas v. Georgia game in the SciPlay Sports Bar which, I believe, opens 3 hours before the Austin FC kickoff. We are taking some friends to the soccer match, so we're planning on coming early to watch Texas. It will likely be the last time several of the players wear the Verde and Black - probably some who have been here since the beginning.
  2. My quick ctrl-f search found 5 under HEB. All prepackaged casseroles or bowls with chicken-like products. ETA: H-E-B shows another 8 products - more pasta and salad bowls with chicken-like products.
  3. Or looking to leave
  4. You have a hair out of place.
  5. I saw this while checking out my morning Community Impact email - see which Texas schools will automatically accept even before applying: Direct Admissions. If you have kids already in the process, you probably know about this already. It was new to me, so I thought I'd post it here.
  6. I checked the page for my youngest daughter. It looks like the difference between the expected amount and the amount paid is $34. I haven't gotten an email or bill for it though.
  7. They were on the 2021 honorable mention list. Basically the second 50 or in the top 100.
  8. *The Switch Their ribs are generally outstanding.
  9. This was the guy playing opposite Chappell Roan on the Honda stage. Mike. This was Chappell Roan from the top of the hill behind T-mobile.
  10. Willie on stage with Orville Peck singing about gay cowboy. nttawwt
  11. I love her so much.
  12. We are camping out between Honda and Miller Lite to end the night with The Red Clay Strays and Sturgill Simpson. Will probably catch Jess Glynne and Cannons as well. I suspect there will be more people at Amex and T-Mobile watching Chappell Roan and Tyler, the Creator with Dom Dolla in between. Dom Dolla puts on a great DJ show - I might start with Dom Dolla and move to The Red Clay Strays. I don't know anyone prior to 4:00.
  13. I have found it is much easier to train a dog than it is to train a wife. We've had the same issue with the three labs we've had over the years. You should use a crate when you are not around to keep an eye on the dog - putting the dog in a crate may work too.
  14. Guest who's smoking hot in a Texas jersey?
  15. From the beer tent at ACL. OU sucks!
  16. In the beer tent early just watching random games until Texas starts. It's 12:24 . .
  17. It is tough to answer. You should figure out tuition and expenses for 4-5 years, housing for the number of years they plan to stay on campus. Obviously more if you are looking at paying tuition and expenses for grad school. I didn't get good vibes about trying to pay off campus housing out of the 529 - look into those rules. We have two kids, now 21 and almost 20 - entered Texas state colleges two years apart. We started their 529 when they were born with $7500 each. Contributed a measly amount monthly until they were in high school and decided to quit playing club sports. At that point, we took the club sports money and started catching up with the 529 - about $550 per month. Both had between $30-40k in the 529 when they started. We continued to pay the $550 per month into the 529 for their first year in college. Not knowing how far we could stretch the 529, we had them take out some student loans. I haven't told them we will cover the loans - I like them to have some skin in the game. Once oldest moved off campus, we started giving her $1100 per month for rent, food, utilities, etc. - hers to budget. This was out of our pocket. Continued to pay the $550 per month for each to the 529. Once I realized she had enough in the 529 to cover the tuition through graduation, we stopped paying $550 into her 529. Once youngest moved off campus, we stopped paying into either 529 and started paying her a monthly amount for rent, food, utilities, etc. She had a little more in her 529 because she stopped playing club soccer her junior year in high school and she had some merit based scholarships. She's planning on PT school, so there will be some for grad school tuition. Oldest graduates in May from Texas. She will still have > $10k in the 529. You can use $10k to pay student loans and we'll cover what ever is left. Any money remaining in the 529 can be used for grad school or covered into a retirement plan. Youngest is set to graduate May 2026 from Texas State. Since she should get through in three years and had some scholarship money, she'll have more left in the 529. That will cover some of the grad school and paying the smaller amount of student loans she has. None of this was part of a grand plan, just me juggling money based upon the given circumstances. I posted all of this to demonstrate that the 529 money can be stretched in various ways and that you should expect to pay some living expenses out-of-pocket. I'm glad its worked out that there will not be too much left in the 529. While giving them a jump start on retirement is nice, I'd rather have the extra money for our retirement. They'll get theirs when we kick the bucket.
  18. Taking to some buddies not paying attention when Chris Stapleton came on stage. Heard the music starting . . . Whiskey River . . .
  19. Caught some of Norah Jones - kinda edgier Karen Carpenter.
  20. I'm forever chasing electrical issues on my C-10. Right now, turn the ignition key and sometimes the truck starts and sometimes nothing. Fiddle a bit with the wires coming out of the fuse panel and then it starts. Just haven't taken the time to determine which wire is causing me issues - I suspect one of them is shorting out. Every wire in this 55 year old truck has been spliced, split, or otherwise jacked with in one way or another. If I ever have the truck completely apart for painting, I'm installing a new, painless wiring harness.
  21. We were there as well. I think we started the game at home, drove down to ACL, and finished the game at the beer tent. With the 2:30 start, there will be many more people at ACL when the game is on this year, though.

Did you ask any questions? I didn't hear you. Just listened to the end and heard your question (you could also claim all of the Spanish questions because I just skipped through those). I'm glad you didn't ask anything stupid and make Rodo mad at you.
  23. Are you seeing Norah Jones at the ACL taping? I put my name in the hat, but I guess I didn't make the cut. I'll be at the soul asylum show.
