  1. In person isn't much better. The 4 good strawberries in the pack go bad in 2 days.
  2. 'preciate ya
  3. I counted yesterday at HEB. Each one of those carts holds 12 orders. I would rather have one person filling 12 orders than twelve shoppers getting their own groceries; some with kids, many shopping as couples, some with multiple generations, etc.
  4. At least it wasn't given to Beyonce.
  5. Stopped by Micklethwait today. Got there song 10:50 and there was no line; 10 minutes after opening there were 25 people in line. Three meat plate with moist brisket, pork rib, poblano ranch sausage, mac & cheese, and green bean salad. Also ordered pork steak with braised greens. Unlike my visit a month or so ago, everything was great. Thick cut brisket was moist with a great bark. Pork rib had a prefect bite and flavor although not overly seasoned. Sausage was good as were the sides. Pork steak was great. Asian inspired seasoning with chili oil, seseme seeds, and other stuff. The only draw back was the pork steak came from the kitchen and took 10 minutes longer than the other tray. We'll worth it though.
  6. Skeptical of climate change?:
  7. Each one of those carts represent about 20 shoppers and the dumbass shit that goes with that. I prefer the one person with the large cart.
  8. SRV, Otis Redding, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline - in that order for me.
  9. Both of my daughters got CAP (no pics). Here are their experiences: Oldest went to UTSA for a year. Lived with three other girls on CAP. I liked the idea of living with similar situated students because they were all focused on grades and getting to Texas - all four girls completed the CAP year and went to Texas. Two of her three current roommates were CAP, one of which she lived with at UTSA. At Texas my daughter majored in Economics. A couple years ago, the School of Liberal Arts added a BS in Econ which is even more math and statistics heavy. The CAP only guarantees admission to the School of Liberal Arts. She will be graduating in May. Youngest wanted to major in Biology and eventually get a degree in Physical Therapy. It really didn't make since to accept the CAP. She decided to go to Texas State, got some scholarships and will be getting her undergrad degree in 3 years. Starting to get hours in PT and hopes to get into the Texas State PT program. Bottom line - each kid is different. I know some kids go through CAP and are accepted to other schools, but I don't think it is the norm. I wouldn't recommend CAP to students that don't want to get a degree from the School of Liberal Arts.
  10. No. It was dry and they put the finishing sauce. I asked the guy when I ordered of they did that and he said no, but it was clearly on there. I'm not getting ribs at mum's anymore.
  11. An army in the streets
  12. Mum Foods and Smokehouse for lunch today. Two meat plate with pork rib, moist brisket, coleslaw, and collard greens. The brisket was great with a solid, flavorful bark. Although it had a well seasoned bark, the pork rib was dry. Both sides were good. Took home a pound of pastrami - which was the reason for going in the first place. In hindsight, I should have eaten lunch at KG BBQ and grabbed the pastrami from Mum.
  13. I suspect the bear swims around and the shark swims around and nothing happens. Eventually the bear will drown because he's unable to get out of the pool. At some point the shark will eat the rotting bear because there are no other food sources in the swimming pool, then slowing die of starvation.
  14. I've always felt inferior to people that need a golf cart to get around the neighborhood.
  15. Maybe Evan LeRoy or John Bates since they actually have Michelin Stars.
  16. Stopped at Butters in Sinton back in October and it was really good.
  17. Reese Bros is near the Alamodome and is easily one of the top two places in San Antonio, probably number one.
  18. Wait until the move-in in August and have to renew for the next year 3 months later.
  19. Other kangaroos seeing the video: "I'd like to see him try that shit with me."
  20. If you haven't tried it, a pimento cheese and bacon omelet is tough to beat.
  21. @Pdawg88 congrats on your son signing to play football. Although it is a good reminder to being grateful for the real Texas barbecue available to most of us, there are at least two other threads dedicated to non-Texas or other state's barbecue. There actually might be some other recommendations for your son in and around OK.
  22. These are generally fair long, so I'll use spoiler tags to keep the thread manageable. The incredible vanishing Congress:
  23. Many of you probably recognize H.W. Brands as a history professor at University of Texas - in fact the Jack C. Blanton Sr. Chair in History. Unfortunately, I never took one of his classes, but I have followed him for many years. He has written several biographies of U.S. Presidents along with other books. For the last several years, he has published A User's Guide to History on Substack - hwbrands@substack.com. I subscribed and get several emails a week. His range of topics is endless, but most touch on the historical relevance or foundation of a modern issue. I mainly wanted illuminate his writings to those who are interested. I will probably post a few of his articles - at least some that I find interesting.
  24. I would start with Martin Cirkiel. Either his firm can help or they will know who can.

Owen juked that defender on the corner kick which led to the Buka goal. Then Owen tries to give it back in the waning seconds by turning around and kicking over our end line.
