  1. https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-democrats-inflation-blame-game-budget-carter-1970s-voters-denial-biden-powell-2022-midterms-11642008348?mod=hp_opin_pos_2#cxrecs_s Opinion piece from WSJ. To reitterate what someone said, it'll get worse before it gets better.
  2. 100% agree. I thought I was getting enough protein in my diet and properly hitting my macros. Decided to order a food scale on Amazon to get a better idea of what I was eating. I went from 188 to 180 just by weighing out my food for a 2500 calorie diet and counting calories using MyFitnessPal. Their macro function is pretty cool too. Just scan the barcode, enter the weight, and eat. I also stopped eating condiments that have calories. Gotten into different hot sauces. Pickles are absolutely amazing for a snack if you’re hungry as well.
  3. I’m smoking a 3.5 pound chuck roast and taking it to 185 internal and using that as my base for chili on Friday. Should take around 4 hours at 300 degrees. Adding in a pound of smoked ground breakfast sausage COOKED. All meats are cooked prior to combining for me. Honestly, if I was doing a chuck roast, I’d take it to 195 or so. I’d cook it differently if I was doing just a chuck roast to eat alone (would put it in a pan with onions, potatoes, carrots and beef broth). Taking it to 185, it won’t be done for chili but it cooks it mostly through in order for me to cube it up and it will fall apart tender when I cook it for four hours: I’ll char the onion, poblano and red bell pepper on the grill prior to cutting and putting in pot as well. 3.5 pound chuck roast will yield 2.5 lbs of beef 1 lb of breakfast sausage Depending on yield of chuck roast, I may add a pound of ground beef 1 large onion, 1 poblano, 1 red bell pepper, 1 or 2 chipotle pepper in ancho (depending on how hot I want it), 2 tablespoons minced garlic, 2 cans of HEB fire roasted garlic tomatoes All purpose seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic), chili powder, worstishire (sp?) sauce, cholula sauce, and a quart and a half of beef broth. Maybe a couple tablespoons of tomato paste. the most important ingredient: no fucking beans. Let it simmer until it thickens up (usually around 4 or 5 hours).
  4. I didn’t realize how many folks around here drank alcohol. I haven’t had any alcohol in over a year. Cutting out booze definitely helps maintain weight loss. So many extra calories you don’t realize you’re consuming.
  5. As someone who lost a ton of weight by changing my relationship with food, best piece of advice I can give to you all is you can’t outrun a bad diet. Diet is 90% of weight loss. 10% is exercise. “Fit” people who look fit are counting their calories regardless of whether they want to lose weight or not. Get your mind right and losing weight is easy.
  6. If someone wants to make a ‘22 thread, by all means. I’m going to stop OMAD and start eating lunch. I was 178 lbs after gorging myself on chocolate covered peanut butter balls over the Christmas holidays. Time to gain some weight! Stopping OMAD and going to try and gain 10/15 lbs. Clean carbs and lots of protein.
  7. Recently installed bidet that we received for xmas. I’m fully prepared.
  8. I've seen them at HEB out with the other regular cuts and have bought them on occasion. If you don't see them out, ask the guy behind the counter when they typically get their cuts in (could be every Tuesday/Thursday or whatever). Ask him to hold one for you.
  9. Jamison thinks getting physical with receivers is a laughable event.
  10. Thanks for the advice. Not DYING to get my time as low as possible but I'll take these into account. The only thing I don't really do is the interval training and sprints. I've stopped squatting so heavy at the gym (mainly just train volume for now). I use runkeeper and religiously do so already. I stretch probably 30 minutes or so prior to races! I may try a warm up jog for Sunday though. Thanks again!
  11. I was driving the Houston half marathon route with my wife yesterday and realized the route goes right past Truth. Didn’t realize where it was but am making a point to stop in there some point in the near future to give it a shot. I wasn’t impressed with Pinkerton’s and am hoping Truth is better.
  12. Even after the thanksgiving binge, I’m still at 180 and training hard. Still doing a self made PPL program. I’m wondering if I should go even higher on the calories to gain a few pounds. Got another 5k coming up in Galveston on the 18th. Have serious doubts I’ll be beating the 25:50 I had on thanksgiving but we’ll see. Good job to all.
  13. So what's the update? Haven't checked in since 2 PM. Looks like we're on sandwich shops.
  14. I think we're done here. Put him in the calculator. Everyone go enjoy their CFS and resulting heart attack.
  15. So if Ewers does come here, do both Casey and Hudson transfer? I'm assuming yes as we still have Murphy coming in and another potential transfer QB.
  16. Now it makes sense that the average surly poster is a 40+ fat guy.
