  1. It’s $142,800 for 2021. Not being douchy, just pointing it out. Want to know how to fully fund social security? Simply get rid of the cap on wages subject to SS tax (like Medicare tax). Boom, problem solved. Almost 50% of the US annual budget goes to SS, Medicare and Medicaid. Getting rid of this cap on SS would shrink the allocation of the budget to about 25-30%. But knowing politicians, they’d just reallocate the budget to bullshit that we don’t need.
  2. Kind of piggybacking on what @Baboontyme says, getting on the right path is 100% psychological. You have to have the right mindset to set yourself up for long term success. Don’t think of it as a diet, but a lifestyle change. Find out what works for yourself and stick with it. I found that when I saw success, the motivation to continue exponentially grew and it just builds on itself.
  3. Traditions? Haven’t eaten there in 10 years. My aunt eats there twice a week.
  4. Finally got a break from the rain and was able to throw some pork tenderloins on the grill. So damn good.
  5. Bought XLE at a $30 average back in April 2020. I've been pleased.
  6. I was under the impression that smaller briskets would be easier to cook when I did my first brisket. I did an 11 pounder for my first one. I was paying too much attention to internal temp (when I should wrap, pull it off, etc.). I watched a few videos and read a few articles and have completed ditched the notion that you have to wrap at a certain internal temperature and really just base it off the look of the bark and the fat render. On my cooker, I've wrapped at 160 and as high as 180. For me, it really just depends on the look of the brisket. After wrapping, I stick a thermometer in the thickest part of the flat and just set it to notify me when it gets to 200. I'll take my thermopen and probe a few spots on the flat and point to feel how they are. If the thermopen doesn't slide right in (giggidy), it needs more time. I'll then let it rest down to 170 internal or so and if it's not time to eat, throw it in a cooler, still wrapped in butcher paper, until it's time to eat. The last brisket I cooked a few weeks ago was a 14 pounder. A larger brisket takes longer, but it's definitely easier to cook than a smaller one and has better results for me. Oh, and there's no such thing as too much pepper. I've even started going 2/1 ratio of pepper/salt. Never used a binder for beef either.
  7. Went to high school with this guy: https://www.cbs19.tv/article/news/local/smith-co-sheriffs-office-reopens-dexter-mclean-murder-investigation/440602165 Murdered 4th of July, 2008. I knew his brother Dustin well enough. They reopened the case in 2017 but recent google searches don't turn up anything.
  8. Most definitely. We’re at an IHG hotel as I’m a cheap ass and booked it with points. We’re a 15 minute Uber ride to the pavilion in downtown maybe? I’m assuming it’s downtown. Pizza on me, bud.
  9. Chicago two nights - 8/6 and 8/7 - has been booked. Let's fucking go.
  10. NWS should have had a Hurricane Karen just to give us one last F you.
  11. SpaceCityWeather and KHOU are both saying it's going to be a good ole turd floater here in Houston. Sucks for kid's tball game and crawfish boil this weekend. Can we just fast-forward to October, skip the 1000 degree days, say fuck hurricanes?
  12. Have a good time bud. I’ve told my wife so many times that I wanted to go see them in Chicago. I’ve got an executive MBA program starting in the fall and I’m looking for a two show weekend that I’m not in class to go see them. Was planning on Denver again this year (saw them there for two shows in 2019) but I’ve got class.
  13. Agree with you there. That problem is magnified when an “independent” body is making rules based on recommendations from special interests. But hey, America!
  14. Earl Campbell went to John Tyler, not Robert E. Lee. I believe they renamed JT to Tyler High School and I know they renamed REL to Tyler Legacy. My mom graduated from REL when they were still the Rebels. I think they changed the mascot in the 80s if I’m not mistaken.
  15. Run went great. 5k completed in 27:55 for a 9:01 per mile pace. Better than what I was anticipating. I finished 10th out of 49 in my division. Very content with that. I was around 8:30/mile prior to being attacked by a dog last November then hit kind of a mental block with running until about 2 months ago. Happy with the successful finish and looking forward to getting better. Keep up the good work guys! 🤘🏼
  16. Heading to New Orleans tonight and have a reservation at Rib Room. Have a hankering for some prime rib. I’m curious if it’s gotten any better than it was 2 years ago (last time I went there). It wasn’t bad two years ago, but wasn’t as good as I usually have. Five years ago, it was the best prime rib in the city.
  17. The entire handling of California’s public school system, from the control the teacher unions have to the politicians using kids as leverage, is fucked up.
  18. Kind of in the same boat as you. We all had it (Covid) in January. Caught it from our 4 year old. Wife and I got Pfizer’d. Will we get him a shot immediately when it gets approved? Why would we need to? He’s got antibodies for now. Eventually will we get him the shot? Sure.
