  1. Texas didn’t recruit you because nobody recruited you. He fucking walked on at aggy.
  2. Currently staying up north of Lahaina in a condo, beachfront, about a 10 minute drive from Lahaina. Honolua Bay on the north side of Maui has some of the better snorkeling areas on this side of the island. The place can get pretty crowded and there’s no sand on the beach. It’s just rocky area with some branches that have fallen where you can sit. Not kid friendly for the young kids not able to snorkel yet. Wife, 8 year old and I went to Kihei beaches at the beginning of the trip but it was too choppy/windy to snorkel. Great beaches down in Kihei for little kids and families who just want to bake in the sun. Haven’t ventured to many other beaches though. Haleakala is currently closed due to wildfires that broke out last week. My wife and I did that about 10 years ago when we honeymooned here but we wanted to take the boy. I’ve done Hana before when I was a kid. Lahaina is just a sad town right now. Apparently they’re making progress but there’s still burnt buildings standing. On the inland side of the highway, they have cleared the land and looks like they’ll start construction within the next few months hopefully. Really enjoyed the trip. We’re leaving Sunday. Best part: didn’t pay for shit. Worst part: sister-in-laws were here. See Holiday thread for further info.
  3. Is Paia Fish Market one of the better places to get fresh fish in Kihei?
  4. Also ran a half marathon yesterday morning up the coast of Maui. Pretty zonked this morning. Time ended up being 1:51 or so. It was warm yesterday and I got sunburned swimming. We’re leaving Sunday and I miss my bike.
  5. No, but I’ve swam the enchanted waters of Honolua Bay:
  6. Crushed Mr. Gatti’s at MLK a few times during my school days (late 2000s) when I was 300+ pounds. Still crush it to this day at the one in League City at 185 pounds. Cheese sticks, thin crust pepperoni, and BBQ chicken pizza are the best. Wife and kid love it too. They know I won’t go to CiCi’s. I ain’t eating that cheap shitty pizza. Let’s go to Gatti’s.
  7. I never knew that being president was considered a “group effort” until I was told less than a month ago, shockingly, right after Biden flubbed his way through the debate and people started asking questions.
  8. Power back at 3:30 pm Friday since 8 am Monday. Leaving for Hawaii tomorrow. The only reason we came back today was to pack.
  9. What a goat show @Clintonaldo Came back to Houston on Sunday. Woke up Monday morning and hopped on the trainer at 6. Power went out about 6 times, briefly, until 8 am. Ended up getting 30 miles in before power went out for good. Ended up driving back up to my folks/in laws house Tuesday morning. Got a 10 mile run in this morning and heading to the pool in the morning. Hopefully power is back tonight or tomorrow and we can head home tomorrow. It was a great run. Low 70s when I started and lower humidity. A rarity in Texas during the summer.
  10. There’s a shitton more than 2 million people without power. My mom and I are driving to NE Texas on 59, took beltway all around Houston from south Houston. We are up in Corrigan now and there’s no power up here, 2 hours north of Houston.
  11. Made it through the night without power. It’s going to get hot today. My mom came back with me on Sunday from Tyler as she was supposed to have doctor appointments at MD Anderson yesterday. She didn’t figure they’d cancel. They cancelled. Our power flickered and went out the final time around 8 am yesterday.
  12. 12 mile run this morning. Longish ride in the morning before work. Thankful for the indoor trainer. I’ll be riding during a hurricane 😂
  13. I’ve actually looked at total immersion and effortless swimming. They’re great. 👍
  14. I had a great swim session yesterday. Did 2k meters, ending on a long 400m distance without stopping. Swimming has always been my Achilles heel as I’m too stubborn to actually hire a coach to teach me how to swim (I’ll buy a $4k bike but f paying for a coach lol). Taking today off as I’m traveling with family but I’ll get in a long run tomorrow before heading back to the hurricane in Houston.
  15. Then we'll really be able to see what can be, unburdened by what has been!
  16. I need to take my submariner in for servicing and cleaning in Houston. Anybody got any recommendations? I purchased from Valobra’s in Houston about 10 years ago but not sure if the guy who services them is still there.
  17. Yeah, I think they said the same shit about Harvey.
  18. Same to you! Are you shooting for a specific time? I'm assuming this isn't your first rodeo with a full 144.6.
  19. Jesus. I did my first 50 mile bike this last Saturday with a 10 mile run on Sunday. It's damn near impossible to survive in Texas going more than 10 miles (running) during the summer. I've definitely had to slow my running pace down just to keep my heart rate in zone 2, low zone 3. I think I'm running around an 8:30/8:40 pace which makes total sense for me. I'm assuming you aren't in Texas? If you are, I don't know how you do it. I think I'm 14 weeks or so from the 70.3 in Waco. I'm heading out in 2 weeks for Hawaii where I'll be without my bike but will definitely enjoy some open water swimming and running on Maui.
  20. What exactly happened in the Portland game? I saw the clip but don't know the backstory.
  21. Good thing CDC doesn't look at the football board during a game. Shit, we do it on every fucking play.
