  1. I have to give it to Utah State, they seem to consistently hit on their bball coaching hires. Just can't keep em there.
  2. And the UNC AD got a $100K bonus if UNC got in. "Hey boys, steak dinner's on me if UNC makes it in -- wink wink -- see you in a minute..."
  3. Major respect to Iowa State. You should go far in the tournament. Do not want to play you again this year. Your starting backcourt out today gave Jones a stage to shine and he did. Houston is the only team to destroy us this year. Our rematch tomorrow will be a good measuring stick for how far BYU has come this year.
  4. You lose tonight that's going to make our game with you next week extra interesting.
  5. Can't get it to embed, but here's a good angle: https://x.com/Brandonrudd22/status/1893547593306624084
  6. The AZ player bodied and hip checked Saunders. It was a mild foul, but it was a foul, and it threw off his shot. There were several weak / non-existent fouls called against BYU leading up to that, and overall AZ was at the free throw line a lot more than BYU. Let's talk about the refs bailing out AZ many times before that final foul.
  7. That was fun
  8. I did say IF, but getting not only the #1 recruit, but a generational player is kind of a big deal for a school like BYU and portends a new competitive era.
  9. I put this in another thread, but it actually belongs here.
  10. Crazy, but should be worth it to help BYU become an elite destination for hoopers. He's a generational talent and BYU has big aspirations. If we get Egor Demin drafted in the top 3 in the next draft, then AJ the following year #1, then Kevin Young's NBA prep pitch solidifies and we gonna be a New Blood going forward.
  11. Wow. I'm sure Hill just got a big raise from BYU then. Not surprised Hill was their #1 target. I've heard from someone close to Utah State that there will probably be an announcement about Hill in the next days. He will get a promotion / upgraded title at BYU, so it's not just money that kept him here, but there's also still some possible dominos to fall if Kyle Whittingham retires, too. Drama may not be over.
  12. Just a reminder that Arkansas, who beat Tennessee, lost to Oklahoma State, who lost every conference game in the Big 12.
  13. Utah State has been pretty good identifying up and comers that then get poached. Going with an older, retread coach is a different tack for them. Still, Bronco is probably a good get and fit for them and likely won't get poached. May be his last coaching stop. Glad Utah State didn't get BYU's DC, Jay Hill, who was in the mix. He's done an amazing job at BYU and was a former HC (Weber State).
  14. Some were predicting a BYU v Colorado matchup. Looks like that's out. Either Pop Tarts vs ACC or Iowa State for BYU.
  15. Stop making stuff up. We have a national fan base. Any game anywhere in the country we show up in large numbers.
  16. The Big 12 ended up with 4 teams tied at the top of the conference standings. And since it looks like only one B12 team is going to get a playoff shot, I'd rather it be settled on the field who gets to go.
  17. You did it the right way. I booked my flight (refundable) before the Kansas game. I fear I may have jinxed it for us. BTW, BYU would have packed that stadium. Tons of BYU fans in DFW. Lots that would have travelled.
  18. BYU just hired a GM for football. We hired one with the new mens basketball staff earlier this year. I know the bball GM reports to the HC. I think that's the same for football (HC announced it).
  19. For clarity's sake, let me summarize my recent points: If SMU loses in the CCG, BYU deserves to be in the playoff over SMU. I was asked why BYU is more deserving of getting into the playoff over Bama, which I answered. I was making a secondary point about the SEC not being all that and does not deserve 4 playoff spots this year while the Big 12 deserves only 1. I included BYU's recent historical wins over SEC teams as a point that BYU can compete against SEC teams, generally-speaking, and by extension I think the top of the Big 12 can compete with most of the SEC (Texas seems to be on another level this year, tho). The SEC usually has 1-3 elite teams each year, but beyond that is mid to bad. I do not think BYU is a better team or program historically over Bama.
