  1. When you sum the differences over a period of time the difference in money between these schools is incredible. BTW, one of the reasons I'm on this board is because of intelligent, enlightening posts that you (and some others) post here.
  2. Yeah, but it's still better than their current situation. They are better off with Oregon State, WSU, and whoever else doesn't get picked up (and maybe inviting a few more MWC teams to fill in the gaps). Can you imagine Stanford and Cal with Boise State and Fresno State in the same conference? hahahaha. That's an Island of Misfit Toys...
  3. It certainly won't hurt, but you make a fair point. What may end up having the most positive impact is that we are now in a power conference with better access to the playoff (theoretically) and the 4 and 5 star Mormon/LDS recruits that would often pick P5 schools will be more willing to go to BYU.
  4. We have more alumni and fans in the P12 footprint, but I agree with you: I think we still go Big 12 given a choice. Most fans I know and follow prefer the Big 12 option.
  5. Is your burdened, broken-down example supposed to represent UT? I had no idea it's been so hard for you. My deepest sympathies.
  6. What will be interesting to me is how this massive increase of money for BYU -- compared to what we used to get -- impacts things. (Could say the same for the other newcomers.) I feel like we have been punching above our financial weight for some time and now I wonder what level of impact this huge financial bump will have on our performance and how long it will take for that impact to show up? I expect us to take our lumps initially in the B12, but hoping we level up and more than carry our weight in the conference.
  7. It's real and it's spectacular. btw, First Presidency payouts? hahahaha so dumb
  8. BYU does some research, but it considers itself more a teaching university than a research university. It focuses more on undergrad, although it does have several top 30 grad programs (law, MBA, MAcc, ...), and it does not offer a lot of PhD programs (~30). If you look at average grades / scores for incoming freshman they are 3.9+ and around a 30 ACT. I'd say that's respectable.
  9. We have a bigger stadium than you and have won a natty in our lifetimes
  10. Ready-made sales networks via church congregations and moms that want to earn some money but stay at home with kids
  11. Enjoy this meme while you can we inside the building now
  12. The Baylor matchup is already looking like a budding rivalry as we've played each other the last couple of seasons and we both won one and there is the religious / holy war aspect. With TCU we have history / beef with those guys from the MWC days. Looking forward to it.
