Duke is a juggernaut and I can easily see them winning it all. They have some big challenges ahead, tho. If they get past Arizona, they will face Alabama or BYU, both high-powered offenses. BYU can match up with Duke height-wise, too. Our starting center is only 6'8", but the guy is a unit/freak athlete with a 7'4" wingspan and 40" vertical. Our starting PG is 6'9" and a potential lottery pick. The rest of our starters are 6'5"-6'7". Only Houston's defense has been able to stop us.
I picked Duke to beat BYU in my bracket, but I am hoping BYU get's a shot at Duke on Saturday.
Major respect to Iowa State. You should go far in the tournament. Do not want to play you again this year. Your starting backcourt out today gave Jones a stage to shine and he did.
Houston is the only team to destroy us this year. Our rematch tomorrow will be a good measuring stick for how far BYU has come this year.
The AZ player bodied and hip checked Saunders. It was a mild foul, but it was a foul, and it threw off his shot. There were several weak / non-existent fouls called against BYU leading up to that, and overall AZ was at the free throw line a lot more than BYU. Let's talk about the refs bailing out AZ many times before that final foul.
I did say IF, but getting not only the #1 recruit, but a generational player is kind of a big deal for a school like BYU and portends a new competitive era.
Crazy, but should be worth it to help BYU become an elite destination for hoopers. He's a generational talent and BYU has big aspirations. If we get Egor Demin drafted in the top 3 in the next draft, then AJ the following year #1, then Kevin Young's NBA prep pitch solidifies and we gonna be a New Blood going forward.
Wow. I'm sure Hill just got a big raise from BYU then. Not surprised Hill was their #1 target. I've heard from someone close to Utah State that there will probably be an announcement about Hill in the next days. He will get a promotion / upgraded title at BYU, so it's not just money that kept him here, but there's also still some possible dominos to fall if Kyle Whittingham retires, too. Drama may not be over.
Utah State has been pretty good identifying up and comers that then get poached. Going with an older, retread coach is a different tack for them. Still, Bronco is probably a good get and fit for them and likely won't get poached. May be his last coaching stop.
Glad Utah State didn't get BYU's DC, Jay Hill, who was in the mix. He's done an amazing job at BYU and was a former HC (Weber State).
The Big 12 ended up with 4 teams tied at the top of the conference standings. And since it looks like only one B12 team is going to get a playoff shot, I'd rather it be settled on the field who gets to go.
You did it the right way. I booked my flight (refundable) before the Kansas game. I fear I may have jinxed it for us.
BTW, BYU would have packed that stadium. Tons of BYU fans in DFW. Lots that would have travelled.
