  1. Oh, they *shouldn't* match up. But then, Maryland *shouldn't* have matched up, either. So, are we really smarter than we were then? Hope so, but show me.
  2. Louisiana is better than Maryland, by a wide margin. They would crush a Tom Herman or Charlie Strong Texas team. So the question, really, becomes whether or not our new coaching staff is legit. Are they at least smart enough to limit chunk yards on D, and rely on their RBs and to a lesser extent TEs to grind out yards and points? Or is the game plan to throw 50 unblocked WR screens and hope something happens?
  3. I for one am comforted by the fact that Sarkisian is evidently 100% unaware of this Twitter dude, as evidenced by the lack of either confirmation or denial. Sometimes, things work the way they are supposed to.
  4. His point was that they are the tallest midget. It may be a boring point, but it's still logically valid -- Okie State would bring more TV value to the PAC than Wazzou, more than likely. I will readily stipulate your "so fucking what" objection, however.
  5. So much this. You know, there was a documentary on the Roosevelts (Teddy and FDR) I saw a couple of years ago, and Teddy was one of the most maddeningly inconsistent figures in history; he'd do something that made you love him, and turn right around and do something that made you hate him. As the inventor of the Bully Pulpit, his story is one to take to heart -- it's not enough just to have the power of persuasion, you have to actually use it for good. And that's just nowhere near as common a practice as I'd be comfortable in any president exercising.
  6. Please don't make me dig through my notes for an explanation of "the United States is a corporation" and how no presidents after the 18th were legit. Some stupidity is so toxic, even asbestos gloves can't stop the burn.
  7. That's just stupid. Short term, it actually benefits the 8, because it forces Texas and OU to pay to leave, which they will do. The SEC train ain't stoppin', so they'd be better off thinking about a long term play rather than this piddly delaying tactic bullshit.
  8. My expectations for Biden were extremely low. Just don't be a megalomaniacal authoritarian grifter, really. I am more pleased every day that passes with how far he is managing to exceed my expectations; actually ending the Afghan war has been a pleasant surprise, from my point of view, because before the election, I expected him to be talked around by the brass to extending this war we never should have started in the first place. So it being messy? Doesn't bother me in the least. Yes, do everything we can to clean it up, but no, don't let the yapping of small dogs detract from the main point -- stay the fuck out of pointless wars. Now, can we get back to infrastructure, voting rights, and ending the pandemic? You know, issues that actually affect most Americans?
  9. So, I ended up putting it in a roasting pan, smothered in onions and peppers, and cooking it like a pot roast. Didn't come out like a good brisket, but I'll be damned if it wasn't a half bad roast. Now, let us never speak of it again.
  10. This would be a relevant question even without Covid.
  11. Can someone explain to me why I keep checking SEC Rant, expecting it to suddenly have content worth reading? Last I checked, oxygen was getting to my brain, so what gives? I haven't done anything so stupid since I quit smoking 30 years ago.
  12. Whittington really needs yoga like a mf. Stretch, dude, stretch. For the love of God.
  13. Just a guess based on the footage? Or insider info? I agree with your assessment of the impact on the team, but it still sucks for the kid.
  14. I'd like to see this. My dad was a Tech alum (I still put his Tech cap next to the tube for luck during Texas games; we gave it to him as a father's day present one year, and I probably took him to DKR 20 times with him proudly wearing it). So I have a soft spot for Tech. And if you don't like Okie State, you don't like college athletics. The only othe Big 12 school I care about is ISU, but I just honestly don't see how they come out of this as anything but screwed.
  15. Should we muddy the waters further by pointing ou Bush Sr's role as CIA Director in the 70s in getting Saddam in power in the first place? Bottom line, we've bet on the wrong horse so often, we'd be better at the glue factory than the racetrack.
  16. The floor is solid, all right. It's just way closer to the basement than it ought to be.
  17. Gifter is from Alabama, and may not be familiar with food-for-humans.
  18. I'm thinking of griddle frying each slice a la cheesesteak.
  19. Weird as fuck problem: We were gifted a three pound brisket (wrapped and everything) recently, and I thought "cool, that'll hardly take any time to smoke" and promptly put it in the fridge waiting for the appropriate weekend. Here it comes, so I take it out, and... It's sliced. Not cooked, but already sliced. How the fuck do I cook a pre-sliced brisket?
