  1. This is a microcosm of a larger problem: the inability of a significant portion of our population to distinguish between what is real, and serious, and what is fantasy, whether of the metaphorical or sardonic variety. It's little wonder that people who take things literally are doing crazy shit after listening to nutjobs like Limbaugh, Boortz and Noori for three decades. Whether funny or not, you simply can't joke about justifying post-natal abortion on a politically significant scale in such an environment. Small minds are listening, people. Mind your p's and q's.
  2. True. And our lege is just about as ignorant as you can get without actually inhaling industrial lubricants.
  3. Reading this thread makes me so grateful for Roy Cooper here in NC. The difference between knowing your governor has your back in a crisis vs. what it feels like to live in Texas where the governor has been a moron for the last few decades is just a night and day difference. I'm probably going to pick my Senate primary candidate next year based on Cooper's endorsement, if he gives one.
  4. What use the Russian mob could make of most of them is anyone's guess. But I'd like to try the experiment all the same.
  5. What, are you some kinda Tea Partier?
  6. Fuck that. Compound bow. Learn to craft your own arrows. Unless you can get a decent silencer, of course. Otherwise, neighbors for 5 miles around will know you have something worth defending every time you kill an intruder.
  7. I used to wonder how the Tamil Tigers and the Sinhalese could possibly be at each other's throats -- Buddhists and Hindus who have lived side by side for a thousand years are suddenly threatening each other with genocide? WTF? I no longer wonder. It can happen anywhere. We're part of "anywhere".
  8. Well, yeah, but most of 'em are saving their money to buy a used bass boat skiff.
  9. This. I don't trust military brass to be able to think their way out of a paper bag. There are a lot of really smart people in the military. Very, very few of them will ever have desk jobs in Washington, D.C. The guys calling the shots? Morons, by and large.
  10. I'm done laughing at him. I shoulda been done in 2014. Is it likely he'll actually have go #2 at the whole insurrection thing? More likely than 0%, so we need to be paying attention. A cockroach is just a cockroach, but when it's radioactive, and has access to your cream of wheat, you have to pay attention to it.
  11. I believe the medical term is "LOSER". "Psychopath" is also an acceptable answer.
  12. Standing up, just like any other Nordbleeb from Planet Claire. Duh.
  13. Sure. Do the same thing to strips of shoe leather, and it'd taste alright. Any veggie that requires you to go to that great of lengths, though, is suspect.
  14. To be fair to ol' Matt, I wouldn't notice the Twitter handle, either, if I were hopped up on cocaine and a half dozen nekkid teens.
  15. I'd personally be more inclined to start a war over barbeque than over God, but since I'm behind enemy lines, I have to be quiet when saying "Brisket akbar!"
  16. So.... I wasted money on this secret decoder ring...?
  17. I get around the "What's your password" thing by making "what's" my password.
  18. Biden needs to have a geiger counter and a poison sniffer with him the entire fucking time. I don't trust the Russians any more than I would trust a Trump son in a narcotics evidence locker.
  19. Yes, beef. I would imagine whatever technique they use would be equally delicious with pork, but Muhammed, etc. The worst thing about religion is when it ruins food, IMHO, but whattya gonna do.
  20. I'm eating a leftover breakfast taco for lunch today. Sucuk (Turkish sausage, the 'hot' is good, the 'mild' is shit, so make sure you get the right one), eggs, jalapeños, onions, jack/cheddar blend. Homemade tortilla. Jesus, why do I ever eat anything else.
  21. Are there really that many people who would bet on aggy? I mean, I know the odds are not about how likely something is, they are all about what will generate the most profit. So again, I ask, are there really that many people who would bet on aggy? It mystifies. Put up the roller coaster gif, by all means. It's only slightly more mysterious than people putting money on Georgia. If you could scientifically prove to me that they were 75% likely to win the championship, I *still* wouldn't bet on Georgia, because... you know, Georgia. They'd fuck it up somehow.
