  1. That's my take on great, average and poor performances. obviously not going to be accurate 100% of the time
  2. Absolutely. I remember around 2000? or so, they started changing rules to protect QBs. I wish I had the article, but SI did a story on it back in the day that the game suffered when a slew of starters getting knocked out. Games were boring, sloppy and not fun to watch. Wanting to protect their biggest investment the owners made rules changes and the pussification began. I call it the flag football era for QBs
  3. I was hoping he was going to baylor to fill their vacant DC position, so that I could watch tcu fans melt down en masse. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
  4. I remember SI when I was growing up. It was basically porn for 10 year old and it was great. I'm assuming the next generation of guys probably don't even read it, much less subscribe to magazines. Based on what I'm seeing recently, that is probably a good thing.
  5. We haven't won a Big 12 title in over a decade. 2009 and 2005 mind as well be last fucking century at this point. Are you seriously throwing academics in the same conversation as football? I'm guessing 40% of the guys that step on most campuses won't graduate with a degree and the ones that do are probably communication or leisure studies majors. We aren't paying millions for coaches, facilities and players to win a spelling bee and we certainly aren't going to the sec for its academic prestige.
  6. I read an article where he said he looks at the best statistical defenses from small schools /conferences and hires someone.
  7. That move was so long ago the players kids are all retired or dead now.
  8. I almost bet against them at half, but took the over instead.
  9. That was a pussy ass hail mary.
  10. Is their defense so porous they can't hold? The eagles would have needed to travel at least 80 yards if they kicked it out of end zone.
  11. I don't understand modern strategy. I was always taught to score the TD if you could. Not stop at the half yard line. If they scored the TD, the eagles would have to go at least 80 yards to tie. I like those odds if I'm the chiefs.
  12. I disagree. Rivalries are one of the cornerstones of sports. For me and I would imagine most, it starts in high school. There is the 'hated' rival that you get up for each time you play. That bleeds over to college as well. The regional rival that has been played time and again. Once we start chipping away at that, we lose something tangible.
  13. Definitely. I'm sure that was made possible by having some great teams. Plus having your commissioner be the one who created the BCS. Throw in the fact they consistently have been given 50% of the field in the cfp, it's not like the odds were heavily stacked against them.
  14. The other method is so difficult, saying the name is blasphemous
  15. I agree. Are people so lazy they can't pour liquid into a washing machine? Plus, people are probably paying 400% more for the 'convenience'.
  16. that and convincing people that a real playoff isn't possible and we should instead, invite teams. Oh, and the sec conference is so great that two of their teams should be invited to the post season. mind as well throw in the fact that 70% of the bowl games are in their backyards, making it easy for their fans to get there, while opponents and their fans often have to travel hundreds of miles further
  17. he just got passed over for DC at miami, so he bounced
  18. one for each hand and one for your face
  19. from a logistical and tradition standpoint, I'd rather play texas teams than any of the shit sec teams we are going to face.
  20. ou needs to be but fucked
  21. Glad there is no problem
  22. Sooo, in college I was friends with this gal and unbeknownst to me, she grew up in the LDS church. one night we were hanging out and i was bagging on the premise of the LDS church and book of mormon. The golden plates, how jo smith found them in the hills of new york, the premise that indigenous americans created the plates but he was the only one that could interpret them using a seeing stone. oh and no one has ever seen the plates and he was the only one that could connect with angels to see them. sounds legit. anyways i just railed on it and felt super bad when, after i was done railing, she told me she grew up in the LDS church lol we laugh about it now and are still friends, thankfully.
  23. I worked with a byu grad on a project. super nice, humble guy. I've also run into some byu grads at a couple games. never felt a tinge of douche or gods gift or anything from any of them. i guess there are douche bags everywhere, though and you must have run into them.
  24. I don't think of "Pro" wrestling as being rigged because it isn't a real sport. It's entire premise is entertainment run by a predetermined narrative. The NBA is / was the shadiest out of all of the leagues. The league office told refs which players and teams to favor, to create the best possible TV ratings for playoff matchups. Not sure if they still do it because i stopped watching it, but it was run that way with Stern Shady. Not sure if the NFL does that - but it is possible. The way I see it there are 3 types of bad calls. outright missed, some are missed on purpose (ref bias or shady ref) and some are instructions that come from the top.
  25. houston is worse. they bring no tv market. at least byu brings something tangible in that respect and it will only continue to grow, since joseph smith required his followers to have many offspring to spread his made up word
