  1. You are right - the 10-2 season in 2018 is what sealed the hire and he must have interviewed well. I think he was living off Anderson's leadership and recruits the first two years after Anderson left because when Gary left in 2012 that was a very young team that went 11-2. Those 3 shit seasons though from 2015-2017, red flag. 6-7,3-9,6-7. do you think he was canned too early? Maybe he needed a fourth year to get TTU going. I guess to be fair the covid year last year was sort of a junk season
  2. I really did think we were going to win this. Baylor was stuffed by ISU and OK-Lite in the 2nd half of each of those games and was lucky to come out 1-1 and not 0-2. This being the 3rd time we have gone in half with a lead and losing - that is not a talent issue. The other team is making the adjustments, we aren't. That is a coaching issue. Both offense and defensive staffs need to step up or GTFO
  3. that punter was a dumb ass. Better to pin them <10 yard line than to give them position near midfield. can't fix stupid
  4. I have to give it to their staff - they know exactly what their limitations are and work with what they have, try to limit mistakes and penalties bc that is what you have to do when you are average.
  5. They are shitty Big10 middling type of team. Not much talent, shitty O line. so they have to plod, eat clock and hope a rested defense with a couple of good players (LBs in their case) can make the stops. They are 4-5th at best, in the Big12 this year.
  6. I think people forgot how shitty Baylor's offense was last year. Even if they had improved a bit, its still bad, probably 80th in the country (conference only stats being used) They are at best the 4th-5th best team in the Big12 this year. They lose today agains us and lose against OU. Possibly 1 more loss vs the TCU/Tech/KSU crowd.
  7. It really is boring as fuck. I only hear about them through other people because I refuse to watch it.
  8. Texas Tech didn't do much research when they hired Matt Wells. It was his boss, Gary Anderson, that pushed Utah State into relevance and then anderson left. Matt took over and the program steadily declined. But he was living off Anderson coattails. Not surprised that didn't work out.
  9. Their offense looks plodding and slow and they have no vertical / stretch speed. If we go up 21-10 its over. I don't think they have the offense to come back from a >10pt deficit.
  10. Refs are human, carry personal bias, plus whatever they are told to do by their employer, and then the ones who bet on the side. You better believe it all happens. It only becomes more noticeable when its your team taking it in the ass
  11. Sumlins teams have gotten progressively worse each year in Tuscon. The consistent downward spiral is fucking impressive. 5-7 2018 4-8 2019 0-5 2020 0-6 2021
  12. I believe it. Seeing as how new construction is severely lacking across the state, there are few options. Mind as well buy in a crap area, move those degenerates out, knock down those shit houses and build a 2.5M house in its place.
  13. I agree that not placing first would not be a reason to deny Mack or Royal a shot. I feel there were numerous reasons why Sark was a bad hire and I left most of them out for brevity. Mack proved what he could do, even if it wasn't 1st place (NC actually finished with an identical record as FSU but lost the tiebreaker in 1997). Sark hasn't done anything approaching that and the body of work isn't there to support his hire. Macks last 2 years at NC resulted in a 20-3 Record and 2 2nd place finishes. Sark at UW: 15-10, 3rd place finish in his division. His 1 year at USC doesn't tell us much.
  14. Lane is still in the game because of this type of mindset:
  15. Sports are still hampered with a lot of old, baseless, fucking stupid logic when it comes personnel decisions and the "passing down" of genes and skills. If your dad was known as one of the best defensive coaches in the country, you will get more than your fair shot at job opportunities because surely, you might be a genius too. This video sums it up: http://<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6naO8n6HsqE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  16. I've seen a couple games there, had some good times at a few parties. The area outside of campus is fucking scary.
  17. You are asking the wrong question. Question should be: Would you hire a coach who has never lead his team to 1st in his division and has never won his conference? WITF he was hired in the first place is some mystical shit that my simple brain does not understand.
  18. I actually like the round robin, because you play each team every year and you don't get to 'duck' schools in the other division. Something like 6 or 8 ten-team conferences would be sweet. Winner of each is guaranteed a playoff spot. Then you can add in a handful of at large teams depending on how big you want the playoffs to be. back to reality I guess
  19. Holy crap Shaw is getting a lot of coin. He's been there 10 years and has 1 rose bowl win under his belt. I guess that's the bar over there
  20. a friend offered me a ticket and I'm considering going. When in Rome and all...Where is the best place to pick up some roofies in waco? Should I swing by one of their dorms? Or perhaps walk around like a rapist and have them thrown at me like a post wedding rice shower?
  21. Glad to find out this thread is not about Gary Patterson, the "creator of smiles":
  22. Sun Belt, MAC, CUSA, AAC. recent realignment news notwithstanding, I could not tell you 3 schools in each conference
  23. If there was a darwin award for losing your job, the WSU HC would be my pick
  24. I didn't realize Tulane still had a football team. Figured they washed away in the last flood and scattered among fema tents
