You don’t throw a strike 0-2…. Basic baseball.

Perhaps, but that doesn't mean he has to bounce it in there.  They're not playing cricket.  It's just frustrating watching LBJ pitch, because his fast ball looks untouchable, but everything else seems to be an adventure.

No perhaps about it. Catchers job is to stop them all. 0-2 ball gets buried at times. Pitch wasn’t in front of plate (not bag) either. Bounced right in front of glove pocket and catcher moved too far right.

Perhaps, but I would argue that the pitcher's job is to throw strikes, and get batters out.  LBJ now has three WPs in the top of second.

43 years ago, the band Composition of Sound was formed. They became another name afterwards.

Is it just me, or does that guy on the right look like a really young James Hetfield?

Who are we looking at here?  The law firm of Scheisster, Flywheel and Scheisster cut out early for Friday Happy Hour?  Looks like Mike Pence on bass, Rudy Giuliani on guitar and Larry Kudlow on drums...or maybe I need my glasses adjusted.

I like both shots, but that first one is excellent. Regardless if the monk intentionally placed himself there or not.

Bucket list location. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.  I really admire your work, so this means a lot to me.  Yeah...I was lucky to get that picture of the monk.  I was just wandering around looking for opportunity to snap a shot or two, and I heard the sound of monks chanting prayers.  When I walked through these entrance halls, I turned around, and there were these monks, one on each side of the entrance.  I tried to be unobtrusive, but one of the monks heard me fumbling with my gear, and turned around to face the camera.  His picture is less interesting, and looks posed.  This monk was more intent on his prayers, and kept on chanting.

  6. Not sure how good these are.  Image quality is a bit lacking but I like them.  I took these in 1998 with my Nikkormat FTN, had them developed at a local Phnom Penh 1 hour place, and a few years afterwards, scanned them into my desktop using a flatbed scanner, which explains the image quality.  Anyway, it's pretty hard to take a bad picture at Angkor Wat:

    Tony Iommi*

    That was my guess, too.

Yeah, process of elimination...I can only think of 3 left handed players off the top of my head, and this pic is obviously not McCartney or Hendrix.  Apparently, I'm not very good with names either.  😅

Yeah but does any other than Coach O actually talk like that? Farmer Fran on the Waterboy?

Probably only people who call in to the Paul Finebaum show, and aggy trying deserately to sound like they fit in.

    Nevermind, I don’t care.

I think it means “boy”, as in “Fetch me a beer, boy”.

Frequently used when discussing how only the SEC plays, "Big baw football."

Got a question for some of you shooters versed in legalese. My neighbor down the road, who I shoot with regularly posed a question, that despite some research(conflicting,  confusing information. I don't feel comfortable answering. He was talking about how bad he was wanting to get a Glock model 19(?). I told him "hell get one, they're cheap enough". So there lies the problem. A little over 20 years ago he was involved in some kind of domestic abuse mess. He said there was no conviction,  but rather it resulted in a deferred adjudication. He said he has been allowed to own guns, buy ammunition etc, but remembers being told he couldn't buy a firearm.  He showed me different articles online, some saying he could, some saying he couldn't and some saying he could after 10 years.  Don't know whether some of this is bad information or whether it varies from state to state.  I told him to consult with a lawyer, but "I ain't spending no money on a lawyer unless I have to".

I told him just to go to try buying one but he's afraid he'd get flagged for trying to do something he's not supposed to.

What say yes Surly? What is the verdict?

I get irritated with people like this.  He asks you for your advice, you give him very sound advice, and he responds by shitting on your advice.  I would have responded by telling him that he can either voluntarily talk to a lawyer now, or he may have to talk to a lawyer later.  His choice.

Very well done (for the time) 26 half hour episode production of WW2 US Navy history that aired on NBC 1952-53.
I watched the reruns in 1954-55.

I remember watching this as a very young child in the early 60s.  Theme music still hits me.  When my oldest brother enlisted in the navy in 1967, I was terrified that he was going to be killed by some kamakazi flying into his ship.  Ha...little did I know, Charlie ain't got no submarines...or kamakazi.

The premise to the average American of "Watch Tom Petty and Gary Shandling talk aimlessly in Tom's basement for 20 minutes" would seem a non-starter.  Instead, it's better than 99.9999% of any talk show segment in history.  We always knew Tom was cool (watch the home movies of him organizing the first Traveling Wilburys rehearsals).  But people I know that knew Shandling said he was so kind, so sweet, so generous, incredibly intelligent, and obviously hilarious in any situation.  Same with Norm MacDonald and Gilbert Gottfreid.  These guys who seemed to removed and scathing and facetious were all actually the nicest, most caring guys in Comedy.  In a sea of asshole attenion-whores, those those three apparently stood apart.  and two of 'em are already gone.

I didn't see the halftime show, or the game for that matter.  But first thing my second grader said to me this morning before I could make it to the kitchen was, "Daddy!  Rihanna had a baby bump!"  And still half-asleep, I uttered "How in the world do you know who Rihanna is or what a baby bump is?"  Google with search filter ON to the rescue!

    Anybody want to tell him?
