  1. Would it be wrong to get too hyped after the first half-inning?
  2. Uh...heh heh heh...you said wiener. But seriously, don't know if this should be cross posted on the Rick Beato thread, but I found this interesting:
  3. Okay, ABATTBQ87, now do 1996-2011 to see another, more traditional pattern.
  4. Anybody remember Eyebeam, the strip that followed Academia Waltz? Was also hilarious, and I remember when one of the characters, Hank the Hallucination, was run for Student Government President...and won, getting more votes than Paul Begala and the third place finisher combined. Campaign slogan was, "Vote for the candidate of your dreams." On the day of the election, someone place a life-sized Hank in Littlefield Fountain. 70s-80s were a golden era for comic strips.
  5. "In life, a little luck and a little government are necessary, but only a fool would trust either of them." Don't know if that's his quote, or if he was quoting someone else, but I first saw it on one of his books and was hooked. RIP to one of the most thought provoking and entertaining writers of our time.
  6. Pete Carroll says, "Hi"
  7. Not sure this is true. Just think of the Germans, Japanese and/or Viet Cong. We killed the fuck out of those mofos by the bushel, but can still respect them for being the obstinate bastards they are. 😉
  8. Do dogs feel sadness, shame and depression? This picture says they do.
  9. You are not wrong. I would only say that when I was in Phnom Penh in the early-mid 90s, there were tourists crawling all over that city precisely because it was a bit dirtier and more dangerous than the typical tourist destination. Sometimes that's what people are looking for. Yes, most of them were young stoners who were there for the cheap and easily available drugs and underage sex, but there were several in their fifties and sixties who were there apparently trying to re-capture the vibe they had when they were in their teens or early twenties, and were in SE Asia during the Vietnam war era. Most of the old guys I'd see wandering around Nana or Soi Cowboy in Bangkok when I was last there aren't the typical Conde Nast type of traveler. They looked to be retired pensioners who perhaps just wanted to spend their sunset years trying to re-capture some of the magic of their youth, and live a bit edgier than they could back in England or Australia without some disapproving karen wagging a finger at them.
  10. You're right...I never went to Pattaya either, but everyone I worked with that went there described it as somewhat of a sewer. Apparently, that's what some people are looking for; Plentiful, easily accessible, inexpensive, no obligations fun. I'm sure if you spent any time walking up and down Sukhumvit, or any of the Sois off of Sukhumvit, you would have noticed several older, slightly down-and-out looking European men in the company of very young Thai women. It not unusual or surprising.
  11. You've never traveled to SE Asia, I'm guessing. It's not just in Pattaya, or even only in Thailand, but this is where it is most prevalent; where old, washed-up fuckers, who find themselves single for whatever reason in a country where no women of any caliber will give them a second look, travel to Thailand and pretty much have their pick of very pretty, and very willing young women with whom they can spend some of their time and money. Not a bad way to spend your sunset years.
  12. I'm sorry too, Dmitriy...I'm very sorry. Alright, you're sorrier than I am, but I am sorry as well. I am as sorry as you are Dmitriy, don't say that you're more sorry than I am, because I am just as capable of being sorry as you are, so we're both sorry, alright? Alright.
  13. Holy Shit. Watching the Oregon - Oregon State game...Oregon player steals the ball right before halftime, launches the ball with a second on the clock from the top of key...at the opposite end of the court...and banks it in. Never seen a shot like it. BTW, Oregon's court is FUGLY.
  14. Get rid of the cats, then there's this:
  15. Don't feel embarrassed. If they put a picture of Queen Elizabeth II on their money, they're British.
  16. I actually prefer the original studio version of this song, but the guitar solos on this version...holy shit.
  17. Thought I'd drop this here. Pretty cool concept with a Texas connection, but apparently only 25 people will get to enjoy firsthand. I'd be interested to see some Surly musician reaction to this guitar.
  18. Mmmmmmmm...Cyd Charisse. Another example of Texas-bred finery, and she was one of the finest.
  19. Great picture. Growing up in Houston in the '70s, these were the local news guys I grew up listening to. Didn't realize how good we had it in Houston until I got to UT, and had to listen to the local Austin "talent", like the ABC affiliate sports guy; I think his name was Ben Storey. He'd make Lowell Galindo sound like Keith Jackson. RIP to Ron...both of them.

    AMMO THREAD

I ordered a case of Remington 9mm, 115 grain FMJ, 500 rounds for $190 from Bulkammo.com last week. Slightly more expensive than yours, but $.38 per round isn't bad.
  21. If he means they would trigger howling peals of derisive laughter, then yeah, he's probably right.
  22. The University of Texas Longhorn Band
  23. I know, I know; it most likely would not have changed the outcome of the game, those Steeler teams were so good, but dammit man...he was in. That Steeler D completely shut down Earl, taking away our one advantage, so the outcome of the game was probably a foregone conclusion, but...shit. 😡
