  1. Not only did I not see any of the movies you mentioned in your second paragraph, I have never heard of them. In my defense, I was living and working outside the U.S. for most of the 90s and 00's, so maybe they came and went while I was elsewhere. But of the movies where I have seen him attempt comedy, the whole joke is him playing into his type-cast character; for instance in Meet the Parents, or Analyze This. Then there was the live action version of Rocky and Bullwinkle. The high point of the "comedy" in this one was the DeNiro character saying, "Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?" Seriously? When I see DeNiro's name attached to a movie, my first reaction is, "Is he playing it as Vito Corleone, or Travis Bickle?" I will admit that nobody does a better job of playing an angry, anti-social thug than DeNiro. I've just never seen him do a very good job of playing anything else.
  2. I've seen enough of them to know that he's a one trick pony. Deer Hunter, a sociopathic Vietnam Vet, Midnight Run, a sociopathic bounty hunter, Ronin, a sociopathic mercenary. Maybe I exaggerated by saying that he always plays a sociopathic, Italian-American mobster, but his characters are always sociopathic, if not full-on psycho, threatening and/or violent; maybe not always Italian-American, maybe not always a mobster, but the character is the same. He seems very limited. He is great at what he does, though, which only makes sense, since he's been doing it for almost 50 years now.
  3. Has DeNiro ever played anything other than a sociopathic, Italian-American (usually a mobster) from New York? I guess there was that one time in Once Upon A Time in America where he played a sociopathic Jewish mobster from New York. I'm beginning to think that DeNiro may just be a sociopathic Italian-American from New York playing himself on screen.
  4. True, but to be honest, I have no clue what anybody is listening to these day...I'm old. I just thought the lyrics this this particular piece would be apropos, given the state of our team over the past decade, and what expectations are for this year...that and that PHAT beat.
  5. Slight correction; Jimi was originally named Johnny Allen by his mother. His father was in the army, stationed in Louisiana at the time, and wouldn't get to see his son until he was discharged over two and a half years later. When he finally did return to Seattle, he didn't like the name Johnny Allen, so his name was changed to James Marshall when he was two. At least that's what I read in a Hendrix biography written by David Henderson.
  6. two quick outs...one more to go...let's get this done
  7. This team is unflappable...they cannot be flapped. 6-5 'Horns.
  8. Time for Cam to retake the team HR lead.
  9. That's the way to start it. Hodo leadoff double.
  10. Welp, there goes the perfect game.
  11. Well, if you can't bunt, jack a two run homer.
  12. Did Swindell just call Nixon "Quadzilla"? 😆
  13. Kennedy is kind of fast
  14. It was, and it was a hell of a pitch to strike him out looking.
  15. Yeah, that looked like a "tie goes to the runner" deal. Surprised there wasn't a review.
  16. Witt seems to be on his game tonight. 1-2-3 inning. Bottom of six, 4-2 Texas.
  17. Is it just me, or does Kennedy resemble Animal Mother?
  18. Zubia has really improved his defense. That was a nice place to get the out at home.
  19. I'd be tempted to respond with something like, "Unless they attended one of the lesser schools in the State, they love their Longhorns."
