  1. We really need to drastically expand involuntary commitments.
  2. Could just say rural people.
  3. The answer is right there in my two sentence post that you quoted. Korea, like the other two, were wars the US could have won if we had steeled our resolve and been willing to incur greater costs of all kinds. We never had sufficient resolve to go all-in on these conflicts, and our collective half-hearted appetite for the fight only further diminished as the costs mounted. Another similarity shared by all 3 was the terrain being an absolute bitch for the kind of war we were fighting. Oh and also the fact that in each case we led a nominal coalition with allies who really didn't give a shit and were happy to leave us holding the bag.
  4. I'm trying to understand how the Talis are mowing down the govt forces this swiftly and easily. I mean God damn. People like to point to Afghanistan's historically strong home field advantage as part of the reason why we failed here, but that sure doesn't seem to extend to our proxies. It sure seems like whenever the mighty US military decides to invest billions in training another country's soldiers, those guys promptly end up getting their asses kicked all over the place. But why is that? My first thought was the Talis, being religious fanatics, are way more passionate about their cassus beli than are the govt forces upon whom we foisted this whole democracy experiment. But I have to think that imbalance in the will to fight would largely be equalized by the realization that they and their extended family are all goners if/when the Tali win. Surely it's not money or materiel disadvantages. Is our training of these guys just shitty? And if so is it the tactics themselves that are inadequate, or our ability to teach it?
  5. Lot of parallels to Nam and Korea. Stop getting in fights you don't have the plan and/or will to win.
  6. All while grousing about the state of education. Priceless.
  7. I knew this reply was coming. I don't think DeSantis came from that kind of family. In fact it sounds like they're a bunch of rednecks, wouldn't you know it?
  8. Guy is a Yale and Harvard Law grad with honors...I assure you he's not. He and Abbott act like morons, and it's worked for them so far. Their states, not so much. It's evil, not stupidity.
  9. Well...yeah, what's your point?
  10. Hahaha I forgot about that classic. Bless you. I'm going to relive that thread now.
  11. Surgeons busy with covid cases?
  12. Abbott is actually a very smart person, which is just another reason it's enraging to see what he's become. Same with DeSantis, Hawley, Cruz, et. al. Their souls are dipped in dogshit, all of em.
  13. I'm really disappointed in us all that Tucker is still alive.
  14. I like to ask this one because the odds are real, lower, and obviously nobody would do it... If you have unprotected sex once with someone HIV+, you have about a 99.95% chance of not catching it. Would you risk it?
  15. Honestly we're not even close to limiting mutation around the world.
  16. It should be obvious to everyone they'll just claim the FDA corruptly rushed the approval.
  17. What's really frustrating for me is I can't convince my 70 year old parents who were vaccinated in Feb to get an illicit 3rd shot.
  18. We're going to wait until the most vulnerable vaccinated start dying before we decide to push out the boosters, aren't we?
  19. I wouldn't go that far. Taking a dump in open court couldn't make Powell look competent by comparison.
  20. I'm struggling to figure why you should feel any inkling of guilt. Blaming someone else for giving you covid is dumb as shit in general, doubly so if the someone else is vaccinated, eleventy billionly so if they're vaccinated and you're not.
  21. Half of my brain thinks "this is altogether accurate and reasonable," and the other half thinks "this is some weak ass shit, learn how to sell got dammit!"
  22. I liked the part about violating federal and state laws. This shit is one of the few things we don't have federal law on yet, and the state law has no enforcement provisions, so it's basically just our lege's suggestions.
  23. I don't believe him. I bet he asked all kinds of questions about covid before he got sick. It's just that the questions were dumb as fuck. There's a once in a century global crisis going on, and you choose to get all your information about it from a gaggle of random or acquainted assholes despite having a universe of knowledge at your fingertips if you'd just open a new browser tab. Boggles my fucking mind.
  24. I'd guess they question whether the suicides are real. I'm sure some wastes of life will soon be harassing the families of the dead and accusing them of being actors and other bullshit.
  25. Thanks for clearing that up.
