I think Sark would bring a lot of BDE and ideas about how to crank our recruiting operation dials to 11. He probably also has a lot of great contacts to build a staff. Obviously, his history with substance abuse and actual game day coaching would be a big question mark. But Urban is going to be our coach, so this may be a 2026 problem.
30,000 foot view: Urban has always made sense if you look at his history and at our situation. It’s us and USC.
If he’s interested in the NFL, then all the health and family stuff is utter bullshit.
We'll know Urban declined when he's dancing over our dead corpse while the national media gloats. It'll feel just like every other major embarrassment that involves the UT athletic department.
So much conflicting info out there. It's weird that Urban would be "concerned about his legacy," but then go to a really challenging place to win it all. I think our fan base has a low self-esteem, so we latch onto rumors that suggest we're undesirable.
USC is also playing well. The eyeball test matters. If Herman would have beat TCU and OU, we wouldn't be having this conversation. We'd be talking about avenging our ISU loss and winning the conference.
If he's the same guy that's on IT, his post elections thoughts make me think he's prone to believing outlandish theories in the face of contradictory evidence.
But this is harmless fun, so I"m in.
