  1. Australia - a home intruder breaks into a house. Thankfully he's overpowered by a resident. The resident then rapes the intruder, resulting in death. The occupant was convicted of rape. I mean, the guy broke into your backdoor, but you break into his? Seems unfair. https://www.sheppnews.com.au/national/man-guilty-of-raping-intruder-not-guilty-of-killing/
  2. Beartooth dropped a new song. @jetsfan76 Love the new Spiritbox song. Not as strong as Eternal Blue or Void, but still great.

    Is Punk Dead?

It'll come back. The current rap music is getting very stale. And rock bands still can fill large venues to massive arenas - newer bands, bands that never get mentioned here. What jazz act can do that? Rock has plenty of young fans. They just listen to different bands. Jazz only has old fans, aside from a few kids who get into it for some reason.
  4. What the hell happened to Emarosa? They used to be a post-hardcore band. This song sounds like it could be from Justin Bieber. Great pop song.

    Is Punk Dead?

If you think punk rock is dead, the folks at Subaru would like to have a word with you

    Is Punk Dead?

I still think the point of my post, regardless of the <redacted> reference, still stands. Rock music got a lot more hardcore after 2000. Look at the Spotify rock charts I linked. At #5 and #8 is Bring Me the Horizon. At #2 is Bad Omens. They may not be exactly punk but they have some roots in punk/hardcore. Early BMTH: Early Bad Omens:

    Is Punk Dead?

Agreed. Rick Beato has a video called the Y2K Curse, where he talks about bands that were popular in the late 90s that kind of faded away after Y2K. The post-grunge era of music got super mellow. Bands like 3rd Eye Blind, Hootie and the Blowfish, Creed, Big Head Todd, etc. They still put out music after Y2K but faded in significance. They probably strayed too far from punk and hardcore roots. Beato talked about how rock got decidedly harder and heavier after that. Mainly was talking about nu metal, but if you look at the current Spotify rock list, you see a lot of bands that have hardcore roots. Basically any "blank"-core band has roots in punk - deathcore, metalcore, mathcore, etc
  8. Fall (2022) Fuck this movie. Seriously, fuck this movie. I don't do well with heights. Holy shit. Good movie though.
  9. This is 40 years old and it still sort of holds up. Doesn't sound too dated.
  10. Not a fan of that song but man the Echosmith singer is attractive. This song was stuck in my head when it came out.
  11. Both girly and poppy. I don't like her new stuff but she had a good run for a bit.
  12. Correction. She has nearly 10 million streams on Spotify. Still no idea if that's good.
  13. Not my music. My friend's daughter made a song that's getting a couple of million views on youtube and a million on Spotify, which I think is pretty good? Sounds like a mix of MBV with White Pony era Deftones.
  14. Can't believe it took until page 2 for me to think of this one.
  15. No hate but I'm not hearing strong hooks with those indie songs. I just spent the day on a boat with some families and a bunch of kids. This song got the biggest reaction and spawned a mini dance party. (these were little kids)
  16. Sorry, I assumed you were older since everyone else here keeps posting songs from when I was a kid. I don't think Paramore's new stuff is as good. Moving on... The song below is another catchy pop song if folks can get past the auto tune. It doesn't bother me as much as other people. I think my ears aren't as sensitive.
  17. Unpopular on this board, and maybe at the senior citizens home but they're popular everywhere else. I'm old too, but it's okay to listen to new stuff. They're not even that new. They've been around for decades. Kids consider you a gramps if you like Paramore. This is a great pop song that Olivia Rodrigo ripped. She had to give Paramore writing credits.
  18. I guess I have no guilt when it comes to great pop songs, lol. Oddly enough, I consider this girly... While this is not girly... Both great pop songs. No guilt.
  19. I went to see a local band. They were really good, but they played The Middle as their encore and the whole place went nuts. It's a great song and it's a got a great hook. Everybody knows it and everyone loves it. That why I put it on this thread. I took "possibly girly" to mean only if it's by a girl.
  20. Wait, does a band being great disqualify them from this thread? I didn't read the fine print.
