  1. shadow, I said that roster is improbable. However, Beard is over halfway to that roster now, and he has better than a "puncher's" chance to add Ramey, Sims, & Williams. If, and it's a big if, beard gets 10 of 13 on that list then I'm not going to "nitpick" him on whomever he fills the remaining three spots with.
  2. "Maybe baby," it is amusing to contemplate the remote chances however improbable ... 1. SG Andrew Jones, 6-4 (14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists in 2020-21) -102 games played, including 68 starts 2. SG Jase Febres, 6-5 (5.2 points, 1.5 rebounds in 2020-21) -104 games played, including 62 starts 3. CG Devin Askew, 6-3 (6.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists in 2020-21) -25 games played, including 20 starts 4. G/W Jaylon Tyson, 6-6 5. F Brock Cunningham, 6-5 (1.6 points, 3.1 rebounds in 2020-21) -41 games played with one start 6. F Timmy Allen, 6-6 (17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists in 2020-21) -85 games played, including 82 starts 7. PF Christian Bishop, 6-7 (11.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.1 blocks in 2020-21) -90 games played, including 62 starts 8. CG Courtney Ramey, 6-3 (12.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists in 2020-21) 9. PF Jericho Sims, 6-10 (9.2 points, 7.2 rebounds in 2020-21) 10. PF Bryson Williams, 6-8, UTEP (15.1 points, 7.4 rebounds in 2020-21) 11. CG Jacob Young, 6-2, Rutgers (14.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists in 2020-21) 12. F Greg Brown, 6-9 (9.3 points, 6.2 rebounds in 2020-21) 13. PG Deā€™Vion Harmon, 6-1, Oklahoma (12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals in 2020-21) SG Andrew Jones, 6-4 / SG Jase Febres, 6-5 CG Devin Askew, 6-3 / CG Courtney Ramey, 6-3 F Timmy Allen, 6-6 / F Brock Cunningham, 6-5 PF Bryson Williams, 6-8 / PF Christian Bishop, 6-7 PF Jericho Sims, 6-10 / F Greg Brown, 6-9 G/W Jaylon Tyson, 6-6 CG Jacob Young, 6-2 PG Deā€™Vion Harmon, 6-1 That roster would win at least twenty-two games and be in the NCAA Tournament, possible through to the Sweet Sixteen.

  4. Can we get an "end of week" update on transfers to Texas, including the addition of Christian Bishop? Thanks.
  5. That makes six NBA drafted players (not the same year) on one college team (Houston Cougars 1982-83), and they didn't win the NCAA championship. Either that was the worst coaching (Guy V. Lewis) effort ever, or the NBA teams were just wrong about everyone except Hakeem and Clyde. Guy V. Lewis had another team with six NBA drafted players (not the same year) too (Houston Cougars 1983-84) that didn't win the NCAA championship either. Although Drexler was not on the team that lost to Georgetown.
  6. When Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon (both NBA Hall of Fame & in the 50 best NBA players of all time) cannot win an NCAA title while on the same team with three other NBA drafted players (Michael Young, Larry Micheaux, and Alvin Franklin) Houston Cougars 1982-83 then yes, I would say the NCAA tournament is difficult
  7. Al McGuire and John Thomson won 5 to become champions Valvano won six because NCSt did not get a first round bye
  8. You are right, I stand corrected. 1975 went to 32 not 64 https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2021-03-14/march-madness-history-ultimate-guide so add 1 Al McGuire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_McGuire Marquette 1977 2 John Thompson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Thompson Georgetown 1984 ttto the list that did not have to win6 games in the tournament
  9. Corrected URLs 1. Al McGuire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_McGuire Marquette 1977 1. John Thompson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Thompson Georgetown 1984
  10. All the rest won six games. 1. Al McGuire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_McGuire Marquette 1977 2. Jim Valvano https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Valvano North Carolina St 1983 3. 11. The NCAA Division I Tournament expanded to 64 team in 1975. Only three of those coaches did not have to win six games to become National Champions. 1. Phog Allen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phog_Allen Kansas 1952 2. Frank McGuire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_McGuire North Carolina 1957 3. 12. Grasshopper, I was remembering Bret Stafford. Who ended up selling tile & carpet in Temple, Belton & Harker Heights to Ft. Hood personnel. While he was trying to fish for a living.
  13. Are guys talking about the Stafford who sells carpet in Temple, TX? šŸ˜
  14. Princely Umanmielen Dorbah is a Linebacker/Rover, not a DT/NT. Vernon Broughton, Jacobian Guillory, Alfred Collins, and Princely Umanmielen are the four DT/NT I would like to see see signed.
  15. Ringo, Thompson, McGlothern, Washington and Kimber would be a great DB class Thompson, McGlothern, and Washington are all rated higher than Kimber, Crawford, Watts, Eaton and Rogers.
  16. There is adequate scholarships available to add 5 or 6 OL in the 2020 recruiting cycle. In a perfect five-year recruiting cycle (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, Redshirt Freshmen, & Freshmen), Iā€™m confident Herman and staff would like to see the following position numbers on scholarship: OFFENSE 1. QB ā€“ 4 (currently 3 - Ehlinger, Thompson, Johnson) 2. RB ā€“ 5 (currently 4 ā€“ Ingram, Young, Johnson, Whittington) Brown is an unknown 3. WR ā€“ 12 (currently 12 ā€“ Johnson, Duvernay, Burt, Eagles, Moore, Pouncey, Epps, Woodard, McCoy, Smith, Washington, Lewis) 4. TE ā€“ 4 (currently 5 ā€“ Brewer, Leitao, Liebrock, Wiley, Cummins) 5. OL ā€“ 17 (currently 15 ā€“ Cosmi, Braun, Shackelford, Okafor, Kerstetter, Angilau, Moore, Imade, Ghirmai, Hookfin, Jones, Johnson, Shepherd, Tyler, Urquidez) Hudson is an unknown 6. TOTAL Offense Scholarships = 42 (currently 39, not counting Brown & Hudson) DEFENSE 1. DL ā€“ 14 (currently 12 ā€“ Roach, Wilbon, Chisholm, Christmas-Giles, Jones, Coburn, Graham, Ojomo, Bimage, Warren, Sweat, Carson) 2. LB ā€“ 11 (currently 9 ā€“ Ossai, Adeoye, McCulloch, Vaughns, Floyd, Johnson, Mpagi, Gbenda, Tillman) Boyd is an unknown 3. DB -16 (currently 16 ā€“ Cook, Sterns, Jones, Green, Thompson, Foster, Boyce, Brown, Jamison, Overshown, Adimora, Watson, Caldwell, Estell, Owens, Duvernay) 4. TOTAL Defense Scholarships = 41 (currently 37, not counting Boyd) SPECIAL 1. K ā€“ 1 (currently 1 ā€“ Dicker) 2. P ā€“ 1 (currently 1 ā€“ Bujcevskii) 3. TOTAL Special Teams Scholarships = 2 (currently 2) T TOTAL CURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS = 78 (not including Hudson, Brown or Boyd So, by the numbers, the current roster is short a scholarship QB, RB, 2 OL, 2 DL, & 2 LBs. And there is one to many TEs. The OL is still two short even with the addition of Braun and Tyler. Braun and Shackelford are gone next year, so that is four spots open for OL in the 2020 recruiting cycle. It is not difficult to see one or more OL underclassmen on the current roster moving on due to attrition - medical, grades, graduation, etc. I do not see Herman having any problem taking 5 or 6 OL in 2020, even with the addition of Tyler whom may very well be a "project." In addition, anyone notice the excellent Preferred Walk-on program Herman has started in order to address some holes like LB? Following are Preferred Walk-ons Iā€™m aware of: 1. QB ā€“ 1 (Sam Sexton) 2. RB ā€“ 1 (Jarrett Smith) 3. WR ā€“ 1 (Parker Alford) 4. TE ā€“ (Austin Hill, Nathan Hatter) 5. OL ā€“ (Chad Wolf) 6. DL ā€“ none 7. LB ā€“ 4 (Luke Brockermeyer, Parker Bayouth, Jett Bush, Jake Ehlinger) 8. DB ā€“ 3 (Doak Wilson, Christian Tschauner, Myles Mass) 9. LS ā€“ 1 (Justin Mader) If anyone knows of any PWO I did not include please add them on this thread. Thanks.

  18. Who is this posting under CTJs username??? And what have you done with CTJ?
  19. Yes he was, he died a few months later. I think Nat had already passed away when Marvin won the 1965 Academy Award For Best Actor in a Major Motion Picture.
  20. She's mean and evil through and through ... Lee Marvin won his only Academy Award for portraying "Kid Shellenne."
  21. Present. Did the other place burn down? ;>}
