  1. I don't think Dak had any issues with being inaccurate....
  2. Help me out here....did the village idiot attempt to get his wall when the house was republican, or is this just a massive smokescreen recently concocted due to the Mueller focus?
  3. SC doesn't have this kind of foresight...they were wandering blind down the hallway, and KK's doorknob was the first that they found. As much as the trojan faithful badmouth Hayden, he was much more functional than Lynn Swann.
  4. Monterey Fish House. Need res. 17 mile drive is even better by bicycle. Start at PG gate.
  5. Saw some bottles out here @ mission. Before this bourbon craze took off, Costco had a 3-pak of Bookers, Bakers and Basil Hayden for $69....
  6. Interesting that Total no longer has any Old Forester products on the shelf in LA now. Recently had everything but BB.
  7. Not as good as one would think, here in SoCal....many liquor stores do large mark-ups on the premiums. ECBP is $100, if you can find it. ER is all over the place, though. Lucked out and bought 2 bottles of EHT four grain at a meat market in western Nevada for $70 each. They had 4 more bottles they would sell me, but I didn't have anymore cash, credit card was back at the cabin.
  8. What's the word on the Angels Envy cask strength?
  9. Trying to be a good neighbor...he's a broker who has been gifting me good tips. and he's a sc fan so it was nice to watch him whimper. Plus, total wine has had cases of the Chew in the front room, so I've got a shelf full. The good stuff is going to the cabin for Thanksgiving with my BIL, who is a really good guy, and respects the labels.
  10. Took a bottle of Bookers "Kentucky Chew' to my neighbors house to watch the UCLA/SC game. He filled a glass 1/2 full of ice, then 1/2 full of bookers. Then he reached into the frig and topped it off with coke...
  11. Wow!!! I suppose that I'm honored to be the first quote of 42....?
  12. Local Total Wine got cases of that in....haven't opened one yet. Those yellow labels in the middle are what excites me...God awfully expensive out here.
  13. 5w30 is the oil that Ford recommends for the turbocharged F150 Ecoboost.
  14. That's a bit of a stretch. Not common to find Blanton's.
  15. Sorry, have no idea what that means....
  16. Damn, the edit function doesn't last long here... Acme story - Wife and I are walking past the restaurant, and I mention that we'd be eating there later in the week. A guy in the restaurant starts choking on a 'ster, another guy runs up behind him and performs the heimlich, and the oyster splats the window right in front of us... Wife - "Uhhhh, we're not eating here!"
  17. I'd be quite happy with that line up.
  18. Rent the Porsche. Now I know you said that you're going to Carmel, but.... At Rennsport Reunion, we ate at the Monterey Fish House. For all three nights. Place was spectacular, in a down to earth way. You need reservations. You need to get the oak grilled oysters. Everything is good. Sitting on the roof of the Porsche hospitality building at rennsport, the guy next to me was in a really good mood - he is getting one of the new 935 Moby Dicks. I'd be in a good mood, too.
  19. Car-pro USA sucks...had a very bad experience with one of his dealers, who was a flat out liar. Let him know about it, and his response was "they are independent contractors, and we can't do anything about it." Believe it or not , Black Friday is a good day to buy. But expand your area to shop. I live in LA, but got 29% off of a F-150 truck in Portland. Don't settle for the factory rebate - this dealer gave me a bigger discount than than the factory rebate, and I still got the rebate. Go to the Chevy website and search for what you want...also, find a Suburban forum and see who is paying what where...
  20. Way back when I took my wife to the Jazz festival. She's super into food, and decided once we arrived in Louisiana that she had to eat at C.P.'s. Tried to get a table the first Saturday, and George (r.i.p.) told me it was his second busiest night of the year, but he took my number anyway. Got a call..."you're in luck". Taking us to our table, they led us through the kitchen, where my wife was blown away at the cleanliness and al the prep going on . By the time we were seated she had already decided she wanted to return. Had a cocktail, then crept back to George's dias to plead my case for next Saturday..."Ha! That is my busiest day of the year! Don't hold your breath!" Next Saturday we got the call at 4 in the afternoon..."be here @ six, we've had a last minute cancellation ". We weren't close to our room, much less the Palace. Crazy rental car abuse got us there at 6. They led us upstairs, and sat us at the turret table. For some reason, which I don't understand, we were comped 2 rounds of drinks and had free rein on the desert cart later. My first ever bread pudding. It was a spectacular dinner and a very memorable night. On arriving home, the new issue of Gourmet was waiting. On the cover was a picture of the turret table we ate at two nights before. Pretty cool.
