  1. Hah! Action Jackson! ^^^^
  2. Damn, out here we never had a loaf...we got the pre sliced version packaged like the other lunchmeat. As someone who is basically addicted to olives, I have difficulty understanding ones' aversion to them. German grandma used make a sandwich with whipped cream cheese with chopped black olives on freshly baked rye bread . One of the high points of my youth. I had a pretty low bar...
  3. What you saw was a ROW club sport option which comes with the cage. If you order a RS with the Weissach package, you get a titanium cage, amongst other costly things. Rollbars and cages have never been offered in the US, but you could buy factory ones for a 997 from various vendors. The 997 were the last to have the floor reinforcements, which were dropped sometime during the run. Current US GT's with the racy bucket seats are supposed to come without a cutout in the passenger seat bottom (all driver seats have the cutout)) for the crotch belt, but some have them.
  4. Not in the US they don't....and they make it very difficult to buy one over the counter in Europe. Very difficult. On US RS's, they also remove the floor reinforcements for the bars that every Euro car comes with.
  5. So how do they get away with selling a car with a roll cage when Porsche can't? Non-street legal, or are Porsche and other European manufacturers just not wanting to deal with our sueing lawyers?
  6. No, that was my dad.
  7. Yeah, my Serbian in-laws were deathly afraid of undercooked pork. after I smoked the ribs, then grilled them, my F-I-L would ask if I was going to boil them or microwave them next... It took me about 10 years to break my wife of ordering every piece of meat well done.
  8. My mom's Saturday bacon and eggs. She would clean the entire house while she cooked this meal. Hour and a half to fry the bacon, ended up looking and tasting like yesterdays campfire. Then another hour and a half for the eggs...no bacon grease left after that long, she just cracked the eggs and slow fried them. The egg white would turn green and take on the properties of 1/4" hardware cloth, and the yolk would render down to some form of Sulfa tablet. Just Awful. I took over the cooking duties in the 7th or 8th grade.
  9. DLR... an aquaintence of mine. His motto on the 81-82 tour..."Rock Out with your cock out!" We did!
  10. Sonoma is a very cool old town set around a square....worth an overnight , for sure. The Marin Headlines, across the Golden Gate, are nice, as is the town of Bolinas. The Francis Drake peninsula is rugged and remote, and has a nice herd of Elk...but everything on the coast heading north is rugged and remote. North of SFD peninsula is Tomales bay, which has good oyster farms and restaurants. Interesting to see the russian architecture thats further north - many folks don't know that they were once here, harvesting sea otters for their fur.
  11. While in Dingle try to take the tour of the Dingle Distillery. The tour guides know more about our prohibition and how it affected the worlds whiskey trade than anyone from the US. Very informative. Plus, they now actually have whiskey - hadn't come out of the barrel yet in 2016, when we were there, so we drank their gin.
  12. So Barbara Bush, on her last night here, enjoyed some bourbon, according to the press. I know we've got some serious insiders here on surly, so who has the inside info on the pour? RIP good lady...
  13. In West Los Angeles, the parking cops have gone from being "parking" enforcers to "no front plate" enforcers. If it's parked on the street, and doesn't have the front plate, they'll write you. It's like a $120 hit, too. Brother-in-law can sign it off, but it's still a pain...
