Southern CA Fires- Extreme Santa Ana Winds
for those asking isolated questions about how it gets like this and why it's so hard to contain, please remember that we've basically been in a drought for over 100 years and this is one of the driest seasons on record. it hasn't rained here in 8 months. so as far as scooping a bunch of non-salt water to drop on the fires, those levels are already horrifyingly low. add the winds, which are bad on their own (think hurricane without the rain), and shit spreads fast and makes life hard on first responders. winds cause trees to fall and shit to fly into power lines which fall and start fires. i'm sure some were started by lit cigs, bbq mishaps, or jewish space lasers, but huge winds always start fires. there are at least 4 independent fires going right now, which is insanely rare (typically one fire spreads but they're all connected). also remember, many of these communities, especially ones in the hills have one way in and one way out. when people are fleeing and firetrucks are trying to get in/out, it's almost impossible. anyone familiar with how la is on a map can tell you how few options you have just to get from the city to the valley and how clogged those roads get, and that's before trees/random objects are blocking roads. the news just literally said "please don't use water today if you can avoid it, even if you're nowhere near the fires". i've never heard that. i'm gonna go watch chinatown. @Sbbruin glad you're safe. let's meet up at a shitty palm springs casino. don't bring your cats.

the winds are slowing in places and its light out now so the choppers are back up. we lost power several times through the night but back on now. 4 separate fires all pretty much with 0% containment. insanity.

wife just packed our go-bags but we should be ok to stay. cousin’s house in palisades is “gone”. friends in pasadena, la canada, malibu are without power and have bailed out east. we’re watching a friend’s puppy that is brothers with our puppy and his place in mdr is empty so we thought of heading there. local news confirms there is nothing can be done to fight the fire until sunrise, and the next 6-8 hours are expected to be the worst yet. i will either hit the throttle on the bourbon or take the 10 to the 15 to caesar’s. maybe all of the above.- Ted Lasso (Apple+)

things that bother me are typically small script issues, not plot stuff. there could be a 500 page thread about movie plotholes. stfu and enjoy your popcorn, it's a movie. here are a couple that bother me when i hear/see them. in jerry maguire, during the cardinals v cowboys game when cuba gooding gets hurt, one of the announcers (gifford?) says something like "well, at a time like this, you just hope his family is not watching this." ok, i know he's not an actor, but come on. it's the end of the season, cardinals are hot, challenging the cowboys for the division, he's the star player having a breakout season, and they're playing a close game on monday night football. yeah, his family probably has a lot going on, they'll just read about it in the paper the next day. another one is old school. they have a big party, and it's clearly friday night. will ferrell talks about how he can't drink because he has "a nice little saturday" planned in the famous bb&b/home depot scene. then the next day, everybody is back at the office, kids (both high school and college) are back in class. it's a fucking saturday and it's not that hard to write it that way. also, for the "a few good men" mentions, he didn't need the big payoff to win the case. he had the two conflicting orders - that's where jessup got caught. "sometimes men take matters into their own hands", "no, you made it clear your men never take matters into their own hands, your men follow orders or people die."- Geeking out at the Movies

hmm, how should i put this? if you liked "dead to me", you'll like it. about 20 min in, i asked if this was by the same creator, and looked it up and it was (i hadn't seen the trailer which says it is). the tone and structure are very similar. it's built to binge on netflix.- Netflix Recommendations

loved s1, keep trying to get people to watch it but some say it "looks too weird". that trailer was awesome but will not help my case.- "day of the jackal" on peacock
so her one and only lead that got her to spain was somehow finding the article about the sniper precision on the cuban gangster that was written about 3 hours after the incident? ok. i can’t find articles online when i know most of the title.- Immamac is a fascist
this is some of the dumbest shit ever posted on this board. when the “immamac is a fascist” thread is going on 5 pages, it might be time to reevaluate some priorities around here.- Girls Gone Wild Documentary

i agree with all of it except the "likely illegal" part. the illegal acts were carried out almost exclusively by joe, which duh, but also wasn't something you'd assume by watching late night infomercials. was it scumbaggy? totally. y'all can let me know how this is, i doubt i'll be tuning in.- Girls Gone Wild Documentary
