  1. For real, my FIL used to say that his "daddy was a Democrat back when they were good". When I pointed out that his daddy's party change happened when the Civil Rights Act passed, he stopped being so proud to say that. Completely oblivious and never thought about that aspect but repeated it for years
  2. Have the day you voted for, shitbirds https://finance.yahoo.com/news/once-generation-economic-crisis-rural-164404261.html A survey released by the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) on Wednesday showed that 46% believe the U.S. is on the brink of a farm crisis, and another 33% said maybe. Meanwhile, about two-thirds said they are more concerned about their financial situation compared to a year ago, with 58% postponing equipment purchases, 38% reducing fertilizer applications and 22% looking for more off-farm income. “These findings point to a once-in-a-generation problem for the agricultural economy,” said NCGA Chief Economist Krista Swanson said in a statement. “The survey findings suggest that this crisis could have a long reach, affecting every area of the economy, as farmers are less likely to make purchases and will certainly make budget cuts that could affect their local communities.” The bleak survey results mirrored similarly downbeat readings in the Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer Index, which fell 10 points in August to 125. A subindex on expectations for the future dropped 16 points to 123, the lowest since last September. That’s as crop prices have plunged from their 2022 peak, while production costs remain near record highs.
  3. Everything that was missing for the last couple of weeks. It's about damn time! 🤘🤘
  4. 5TD'S with <100yds of offense combined on them lmfao. The defense deserves most the credit for that games score, and we can't expect to get gifts like that in conference play. Stoked to see Arch shake some monkeys off his back. We need him to be good.
  5. Lol Supremes fucking LOVE counter-factual shit! Cake shop out front shoulda told ya
  6. Down to what, though? A decade ago I had a killer 2/2 with a room mate near Mueller that was only $1500/mo. That peaked up to nearly 3x, but I doubt that it's come down to even close to 2x
  7. Is that like when incredulity accused me of being an "antifa fascist"? I don't see it as building a safe space - that would ACTUALLY be Elon buying Twitter and changing its algorithm to amplify conservative voices and diminish progressive voices. It's a perfectly reasonable response to just not play the rigged game and go to a different platform. Twitter IS the safe space. Elon changes Grok every time it demonstrates it's liberal bias for facts, or strays from the Party line for fucks sake lol. I don't see what anyone would have to gain to stay on Twitter and be the rabbit for the dogs chasing around the track there.
  8. Emergency powers.... Being used to seize power from a democratic government?
  9. You're ignoring her other major point of it being actual people and not just socks and bots, but go off king
  10. It's moreso that we have no more social gathering spaces that are real, unless you go to a church. Third spaces don't exist anymore, and just hanging out will get the cops called on you for loitering. Kids don't have freedom to go explore and play and ride a bike on their own, parents will get CPS called on them for letting a 12yo go to a park on their own. So, they go online. And parents (most of them at least) don't know how to participate in that space with their kids, so they are at the whims of the algorithm and the multinational for profit entities that literally profit off of outrage and hate. That's the playground for kids today. It's not a shock that it's producing some fucked up kids.
  11. I'm really curious to see how this is gonna impact one of my customers - they have half their team flying to and from India at any given time. One of their directors also told me about how much they enjoy taking colloidal silver to address cold symptoms, so maybe they're all paid up already
  12. The fascists get their messaging aligned sooooo fast because they don't give a shit about facts and reality. And since their messaging is aligned, useful and uncritical idiots latch onto it as the most likely explanation. Then it becomes the "common knowledge" even if it's diametrically opposed to reality. That's how you get DT goons crashing out when confronted with reality, Johnny Sack/Frank Drebin put on a great show this last go-round
  13. It's probably the multiple news articles about their cancellation page going down from too much traffic. They've really stepped in it and the SGA and WGU are pissed at them too. Apparently they tried to make Kimmel apologize and donate to TPUSA and he refused. What a fucking world
  14. The Army and USN are actually testing a phalanx replacement that uses focused microwaves, first field test in 2026 https://news.usni.org/2024/03/27/navy-to-test-microwave-anti-drone-weapon-at-sea-in-2026
  15. I'd happily pay processing fees on both my treefiddy and burnt ends subs if that were an option
  16. Smarter Every Day has an excellent video about the current "moon mission" and it's planning shortcomings. After his talk (over a year ago now) NASA even amended their mission plan to address unaccounted orbital refuelings from Starship to Starship. 18 refuelings PER MOON TRIP, and they haven't even successfully demonstrated orbital flight, much less orbital cryogenic refueling
  17. It's the new-age, closed source IRC chat slash teamspeak. It's far more functionality than that, but socially it's the same. Discord is a collection of chat rooms (aka "servers") that can curate and moderate independently of eachother and act as micro-communities. It's effectively message boards for genZ, except they're far more closed off and insular and move at a significantly faster pace. My buddies use discord for voice chat while gaming, or when we do our D&D game remotely on the rare occasion. There's a surly discord too, but it's mainly just there for people to chirp at imma when surly goes down
  18. ACTUAL news update: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/no-evidence-charlie-kirk-shooting-left-wing-groups-rcna232513 The federal investigation into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has yet to find a link between the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, and left-wing groups on which President Donald Trump and his administration have pledged to crack down after the killing, three sources familiar with the probe told NBC News. One person familiar with the federal investigation said that “thus far, there is no evidence connecting the suspect with any left-wing groups.” “Every indication so far is that this was one guy who did one really bad thing because he found Kirk’s ideology personally offensive,” this person continued. In addition, two of the people familiar with the probe said it may be difficult to charge Robinson at the federal level for Kirk’s killing, while the third source said there is still an expectation that some kind of federal charge is filed against Robinson. Factors that have complicated the effort to bring charges at the federal level include that Robinson, a Utah resident, did not travel from out of state; Kirk was shot during an open campus debate at Utah Valley University. Additionally, Kirk himself is not a federal officer or elected official.
  19. Yeah the bullet casing inscribing are 100% just shitposts with no meaning besides nihilism
  20. Holy shit, ICE has hundreds of people missing after closing "Alligator Alcatraz" https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/immigration/article312042943.html For the hundreds of men who were detained at Alligator Alcatraz, entering the gates of the makeshift migrant detention center in the Everglades meant exiting the labyrinthine but familiar federal immigration process and entering what several immigration attorneys described as an alternate system where the normal rules don’t apply. One Guatemalan man detained at the tent site was accidentally deported to Guatemala before a scheduled bond hearing, his attorney said, reminiscent of the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador. A 35-year-old Cuban man could not be located at the California detention facility where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said they had sent him, leaving his family and attorney frantically trying to determine where he was for more than a week, they said. As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald. The Herald had obtained the names from two detainee rosters. Around 800 detainees showed no record on ICE’s online database. More than 450 listed no location and only instructed the user to “Call ICE for details” — a vague notation that attorneys said could mean that a detainee is still being processed, in the middle of a transfer between two sites or about to be deported.
  21. The riot cops teakettling students was the first bite at the apple, and it was cheered on. This is just further down the road
  22. What was the officer's name? I had no idea about that small detail in our history
  23. On steam you can set whatever display name you want that's separate from your account login, they're probably referring to that. It's used frequently for shitposting and goofs and roleplaying in games
