  1. Behold, the fee market! https://www.ft.com/content/cd1a0729-a8ab-41e1-a4d2-8907f4c01cac The US official said Nvidia agreed to share 15 per cent of the revenues from H20 chip sales in China and AMD would provide the same percentage from MI308 chip revenues. Two people familiar with the arrangement said the Trump administration had not yet determined how to use the money. The Financial Times reported that the commerce department started issuing H20 export licences on Friday, two days after Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang met President Donald Trump. The US official said the administration had also started issuing licences for AMD’s China chip. The quid pro quo arrangement is unprecedented. According to export control experts, no US company has ever agreed to pay a portion of their revenues to obtain export licences. But the deal fits a pattern in the Trump administration where the president urges companies to take measures, such as domestic investments, for example, to prevent the imposition of tariffs in an effort to bring in jobs and revenue to America
  2. Ya know, it's crazy the feds just shake those businesses down now in order to have access to a market https://www.ft.com/content/cd1a0729-a8ab-41e1-a4d2-8907f4c01cac The US official said Nvidia agreed to share 15 per cent of the revenues from H20 chip sales in China and AMD would provide the same percentage from MI308 chip revenues. 3. I'm talking about the Presidential™ TrumpCoin®, not Bitcoin, considering the only purpose of the side coins is to drive demand for BTC as an entry to crypto for more greater fools
  4. It's wild how the entire argument for crypto from pro-trump people is "trump is ruining the US economy so you should use crypto!" Impressive self-licking ice cream cone. I wonder why trump isnt shilling his briberycoin more, if we're just abandoning the dollar
  5. Wild how little the mods seem to enforce rules depending on poster. Dude has been going for the better part of a week across multiple threads, and derailing for days with personal attacks. Really frustrating that being an idiot is a protected class on surly. If you try to engage with them, you get banned for replying to the content of their posts.
  6. Not loving what I'm reading about trump capitulating to putin https://www.newsweek.com/russia-us-peace-deal-ukraine-vladimir-putin-trump-2110865
  7. no idea why service members might feel it's appropriate behavior
  8. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fort-stewart-shooting-suspect-was-hard-worker-bullied-stutter-army-sol-rcna223667 Interesting new reporting on the incident
  9. Him and Noem and Huckabee all are peas in a pod
  10. That looks like a completely serious chart that would get posted on the business board
  11. 'member when the president shouldn't be telling companies how do run themselves and what to say? Something about a free market?
  12. Green Dildo Coin, a svelte financial investment for anyone who doesn't care! Anyone getting a piece of the action?? https://www.reuters.com/sports/wnba-sex-toy-incidents-linked-cryptocurrency-group-2025-08-07/ A spokesman for the group behind Green Dildo Coin took credit for the trend in an interview with USA Today, while The Athletic reviewed a livestream of cryptocurrency enthusiasts in which speakers celebrated a sex toy being thrown onto the Los Angeles Sparks' court Tuesday. The group has claimed that their memecoin's goal was to combat a "toxic" environment in the cryptocurrency world and insisted that its members did not "dislike women's sports," though it's unclear why Green Dildo Coin advocates have fixated on the WNBA. Regardless, WNBA players and coaches have widely criticized the trend, citing safety concerns alongside the unneeded ridicule it's brought to the league. There have been six known incidents of neon green sex toys being thrown at WNBA games since July 29, per USA Today.
  13. I think it's probably more the 70+ hour work weeks and rancid professional culture in Japan keeping people away from their families and without free time to nurture a family
  14. Jesus Christ it's like pronghorn never left us
  15. Yeah well, when's the last time appeasing a fascist blew up in everyone's face???
  16. he literally thinks windmills cause cancer
  17. it's literally just doing an Enron to Texas
  18. God I love picking winners and losers. Fact is, most chips aren't made in the US. Most of the silicon in my PC except the 5070ti was diffused in Malaysia or Korea or China and then assembled in another country and then landed in the US. The new unilateral tax from the emperor means COGS skyrocketing across the supply chain.
  19. 100% tariff on imported chips - which is to say literally every cutting edge process semiconductor https://www.reuters.com/world/china/trump-says-us-will-levy-100-tariff-some-chip-imports-2025-08-06/ That's gonna leave a mark considering NVDA alone makes up almost 10% of the entire stock market value, and every AI darling is about to see their COGS go up significantly. There are some foundries on US soil to partially mitigate the tariff tax but they aren't producing the quantity or quality of the TSMC native foundries
  20. lmao one of the first replies "none of these women like themselves, which is totally understandable as i don’t like any of them either"
  21. that's totally not gonna wreck havok with our ATC systems or anything. It'll all work just fine until there's a stress on the scheduling for flight plans, and then it'll all go to hell. It's such an old and brittle system that has had ZERO downpayments made against their tech debt
  22. god what I'd give to see someone slap a padlock on that rolling door and run off
  23. Impressive how the local fascists derailed this thread into an immigration discussion instead of focusing on how they're taking active measures to more effectively control mass messaging by removing competing sources of factual information.
  24. No, the authorities have moved on to more pressing matters of state. Like changing electoral maps mid-cycle. The cleanup is all done and no more disaster relief is needed, right?
