  1. The judge also said "this should have been produced a year or more ago, and then we wouldn't be in this time crunch" so I don't think she's going to be very sympathetic to the defense

Yep, these two from Penn Wharton seem nakedly partisan and overtly political...

The same group also argued that the build back better plan to dump trillions of stimulus into the economy would have minimal impact on inflation, only .2% in short term and none long term. So I'm not sure if they'd consider anything responsive to inflation, considering every classical model for inflation isnt really working anymore. My point is: posting a political commentators tweet on a study is significantly different from just posting the study and your opinion.

In rhetoric, an ad hominem argument (I.e. “I reject your argument, not on its merits, but because you are an unreliable arguer”) is a loser

I didn't say anything about the content, just that it's remarkable how GRUvibes always manages to find nakedly partisan sources and present them as unbiased. In this case, it's a political commentator making a political argument against pending legislation and linking it to other political buzzwords like "green new deal".

I think it's fair to point that out as it's introduced to the discussion. Especially when it's from a poster who's been crowdsourced and banned multiple times.

Is that sufficient for Reynal to say he was clawing it back?

They address this directly during the hearing, and the judge ruled that the defense failed to comply with the rules of discovery and failed to comply with the rules on asserting privilege. It wasn't that privilege was asserted and the court denied it - the defense did nothing whatsoever.

The cats out of the bag, but the judge is allowing the defense to assert privilege on specific documents which the judge will rule on. The judge has plainly said that she will not seal the entirety of the documents

    HOLY SHIT

was literally about to post that. The thread linked from chopper is fucking NUTS!

jones had previously returned a 183 page deep background check for Leonard Posner (another Sandy Hook plaintiff in another case) during a discovery request in this current case, but it's beyond the pale that they collected dossiers on each and every parent they were tormenting. Really puts the lie to the defense's argument of "we didn't even spend that much time on the topic!"

That's a 3-year-old news story or am I missing something? AJ's attorney accidentally shared the contents of AJ's phone with plaintiff attorneys 12 days ago. There's no report of child porn on AJ's phone at this time.

You're correct. The child porn was returned by free speech systems and jones during one of the abortive discovery attempts in 2019. IMO, I think Jones' phone will be a bigger factor towards his Jan6 jeopardy, considering he took da fif a couple hundred times

I dont shit about fuck when it comes to law, but what am I watching here? When the defense kicked off his last presentation, he seemed to imply there were two phases to this trial, and this was only the first. And then at the closing, he said he looked forward to when he would present again on the matter of punitive damages. What is the jury deciding now then?

I think this first trial is for compensatory damages, and then another for punative damages as additional punishment for fuckery

There’s a high threshold for upholding that kind of death penalty sanction for discovery abuse, and I’m not up to speed on all the shit Jones pulled to warrant that. But I suspect that’s going to be point of error No. 1 on appeal. Judge Gamble is pretty sharp, so hopefully she’s made a strong record for her default judgment to survive appeal.

For context: jones has drawn this process out over four years, either completely not responding to discovery requests, or returning completely random shit ranging from a 183 page background check on a plaintiff for a DIFFERENT defamation case to child porn (no shit)

So what do they have for us today?

Either today or tomorrow, jones is going to be cross examined by the plaintiff. And for every minute that jones bloviates in his defense, the plaintiffs get to cross him. He can't dodge it, can't delay it, he's in a box and I'm almost certain he's going to crack and go off the rails.

He's also taking every chance he can to shit talk the judge and the process, and is almost certain to get hit with more shit as a result of his actions.

And yeah for context: while one of the plaintiffs was testifying, jones was broadcasting on his show, calling the judge a "dwarf goblin" and "judge goblin". He literally left his broadcast to go to court and join the in progress trial

  11. Today's episode of Knowledge Fight is basically just a straight recap of yesterday's trial shenanigans from the two hosts who were in the courtroom gallery all day

  12. I do think there's something to her "all of my children are perfectly logical" deal - the nature of reality is chaos and rarely logical, so it makes sense that an outlier from that logic would cause such a problem in the hosts. They just don't know how to handle something that isn't expected, whereas humans have had millennia of evolution to craft our brains ability to just make up some bullshit to label a pattern and move on.

Its highlighting the difference between the mechanical and comparatively extremely young hosts and the organic and ancient humans. We've plain got more data encoded in our genes than they do

  13. Wow it gets worse!

Texas DPS trooper arrived on scene of Uvalde school shooting earlier than previously known, body cam shows

    Quote

(CNN)Body camera footage released by the city of Uvalde last month shows a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was on the scene outside Robb Elementary School just 2 minutes and 28 seconds after the gunman entered, a timeline earlier than previously known.

The department had only disclosed, in timelines and testimony, that the first state trooper entered the school hallway at 11:42 a.m., nine minutes after the gunman entered the school. But DPS had not stated when the trooper first arrived at the school itself.
The more specific timeline raises further questions about DPS's own transparency and role in the botched police response, even as the department leads the investigation into what happened. The body camera video was provided to CNN by Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, who has expressed his frustration with the department's investigation and accused DPS of a "cover-up."

The head of the largest police union in Texas said the new timeline raised serious questions about the department's trustworthiness.

"I don't know that we can trust them to do an internal investigation," Charley Wilkison, the executive director of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, which represents some law enforcement officers in Uvalde, told CNN on Tuesday. "It would be best if the investigation were headed up by an outside independent source that the public can have total confidence in.

TLDR - the cops have been lying through their fucking teeth, as is tradition. It's only going to get worse and uglier as we uncover more of their lies.
