  1. They're leaving out Paul Manaforts ratfucking on behalf of Putin, not to mention the employment of many micro targeting strategies that we now enjoy domestically
  2. Nothing about Trump's last term, or the preamble to his second term leads me to believe this is a possibility. The crazy is going to be redirected to cruelty. Cruelty is the point.
  3. So, not wanting their brands to appear along side hate speech and disinformation is arguably NOT sufficient business justification? Really uhhhh... Inspired selective pursuit of antitrust action I guess. I can't wait until the State is prosecuting people for not giving their money to the oligarch class
  4. https://www.techdirt.com/2024/11/22/texas-ag-declares-war-on-advertisers-who-snub-musks-extwitter/ Lol apparently it's a crime to not do business with elmo?
  5. Don't have a monitor but when I hook my PC up to my OLED in my living room it looks spectacular. Definitely make sure youve got the setup and correct cables for sending an HDR signal, it really makes games pop
  6. No, they just don't care when it's Republicans doing it. They get their titties in a twist when some random goober on Twitter claims a (D) is being bad without proof, and use the power of cognitive dissonance to filter out any real evidence of wrong doingby (R)s
  7. PUC calls for legislative, regulatory fixes for CenterPoint’s failures during Beryl-centerpoint-legislative-regulatory-fixes/ The punchline is that they aren't requiring any real resiliency improvements, just recommending they staff a call center so humans can tell you you're fucked, instead of a recording
  8. Propublica with some excellent reporting as always: https://www.propublica.org/article/georgia-dismisses-maternal-mortality-committee-amber-thurman-candi-miller Georgia officials have dismissed all members of a state committee charged with investigating deaths of pregnant women. The move came in response to ProPublica having obtained internal reports detailing two deaths. ProPublica reported in September on the deaths of Amber Thurman and Candi Miller, which the state maternal mortality review committee had determined were preventable. They were the first reported cases of women who died without access to care restricted by a state abortion ban, and they unleashed a torrent of outrage over the fatal consequences of such laws. The women’s stories became a central discussion in the presidential campaign and ballot initiatives involving abortion access in 10 states. “Confidential information provided to the Maternal Mortality Review Committee was inappropriately shared with outside individuals,” Dr. Kathleen Toomey, commissioner of the state Department of Public Health, wrote in a letter dated Nov. 8 and addressed to members of the committee. “Even though this disclosure was investigated, the investigation was unable to uncover which individual(s) disclosed confidential information. “Therefore, effective immediately the current MMRC is disbanded, and all member seats will be filled through a new application process.” A health department spokesperson declined to comment on the decision to dismiss the committee, saying that the letter, which the department provided to ProPublica, “speaks for itself.” Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s office also declined to comment, referring questions to the health department.
  9. So you're saying the US in WWII was motivated by ultra-nationalism and authoritarianism? While it was fighting authoritarian nationalist nations? Is this like when you accused me of being an "antifa fascist"? Because you're just throwing shit against the wall lol Specifically in the story if you REALLY want to get into the novel: the Federation forbid ANY childbirth unless licensed, the Mormons went off and started their own colony so they could fuck and have a bunch of babies as Mormons are want to do, which kicked off the arachnid war because the humans stepped over the line. If the Federation weren't so totalitarian and authoritarian, it would allow everyone to have children - not just those that have done violence for the state. There's loads of examples that you could dive into to demonstrate the abundance of fascistic imagary in the film, and they don't all revolve around clothes.
  10. You're literally the only person talking about the clothes lol. Stop being ridiculous
  11. " If I tell the world that a right-wing, fascist way of doing things doesn't work, no one will listen to me. So I'm going to make a perfect fascist world: everyone is beautiful, everything is shiny, everything has big guns and fancy ships, but it's only good for killing f****** Bugs! " Michael Ironside, recounting Paul Verhovens explanation for the film's aestetic and tone
  12. Uhhhhhhhh, the humans in Starship Troopers are pretty explicitly fascist lol. The movie leaning so hard into it was a satirization of the book's love of authoritarianism and ultra-nationalism
  13. I can think of an African American that would love a cabinet position
  14. Bolverk had a good visual and explainer
  15. International Criminal Court files arrest warrants for Bibi and hama's military commander https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly2exvx944o Judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) have issued arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister and former defence minister, as well as Hamas's military commander. A statement said a pre-trial chamber had rejected Israel’s challenges to the court’s jurisdiction and issued warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. A warrant was also issued for Mohammed Deif, although the Israeli military has said he was killed in an air strike in Gaza in July. The judges said there were “reasonable grounds” the three men bore "criminal responsibility" for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war between Israel and Hamas. Both Israel and Hamas have rejected the allegations.
  16. That's just more BUSINESS KILLING SOCIALIST REGULATIONS
  17. If a firms entire growth is attributed to Mark to Market fuckery, youuuu might just be an enron. Microstrategy also recently lost its accounting firm, who said “We are resigning due to information that has recently come to our attention which has led us to no longer be able to rely on management’s and the Audit Committee’s representations,” Mea culpa for that incorrect info, however I still feel strongly that if a companies growth is mainly from Mark to market, you should tread carefully
  18. Who do you think is delaying and denying care? Dude lives for that shit to keep profits up and their customers sick and desperate so they don't move to a new """provider"""
  19. The exuberance around the accounting rule change to count Bitcoin spot price increases as profit is weird, since that's explicitly counting unrealized profits as earnings. Seems like the sort of thing that got Enron in trouble and making bigger and bigger bets that left them ever more exposed to the downside
  20. You are aware of how both of Trump's impeachment trials went, right?
  21. Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag [/Clarkson]
  22. $1.06 in 1998 (when ResE2 came out) is $2.04 in 2024 dollars, and I've definitely bought gas at $2.10 this year
