I admitted the mistake after you pointed it out. Still a commutation of a double murderer of US military citizens.
Holy fuck do you not understand the difference between intervening to remove all prison time for a person who lied to protect the president (and was found guilty by a jury) and going death down to life without parole?
Nevermind that out of 36 of Trump's pardons, 31 of them have been for his campaign officials, national security advisor, and political allies?
Is that shit just same same to you?

They are money whipping us with our tax dollars into an epidemiological experiment. Let’s see how it plays out!
Ultimately, TEA isn't the driving force behind this cluster fuck. Our chief executive and governor's decision making is what has put us into the great epidemiological experiment of our times.
Not the fucking teachers

Selling PR to buy Greenland. What a moron.
To Trump and Miller, it's selling an island of brown people for an island of white people. Galaxy brain move

This is some Qanon bullshit. Very similar amount of evidence to other conspiracy theories about child abuse. Last one with a pizza parlor didn't work out so good

hopefully in those waterparks the chlorine is so high it will kill everything? maybe that's why only the new part of schlitterbahn is open...
If it's at least 4ppm of chlorine in the water it's pretty well disinfectant. Issue is the breathing back and forth as covid spreads by air. Unless they're spraying the chlorinated water around the air, it won't do much good. Surfaces are probably covid free though

You should hire an electrician to put in a transfer box to safely electrify your home without killing a linesman

Shit, I know that magnet programs increase kids overall test scores. I've seen (and heard several NPR based reports) those studies as well.
Magnet programs are usually used to prop up an underperforming school, and in my experience attending a public magnet school, it was a great experience. It got me out of my bubble and let me make friends with people from other socio-econimic groups my parents wouldn't have put me around otherwise.
Magnet schools are not charter schools.

Posted in the DT thread - Typhoon (Typhoid?) Texas in Katy last night was poppin. We can't be trusted to actually follow guidelines or partial restrictions.

We're going to be locking down again

Reopening continuing to go as expected. This was a typhoon Texas in Katy last night
https://v.redd.it/i7n5nd2rb5a51
Reopening to save the economy is totally going to work out great, guys! Our fellow citizens have thoroughly demonstrated their ability and willingness to follow the rules and guidelines to ensure there's not a second (or taller peak to this one) wave. Handshakes all around

I mean, brotha has sort of disappeared in the face of defending his poorly made argument. If you'd prefer we can just drive-by post tweets in the spirit of OP

That's actually not my argument. My argument is that the reduction to the variable costs actually outweighs my contribution, so it is a net positive to the ISD to give me a voucher and send me and my children on our way.
Ah I see so your desire to redirect public funds away from public schools isn't political, it's economic? Oldie but a goodie

The feds using the money whip to force an agenda is not unique to Trump, nor is it unique to the topic of public school education.
In this case, the "whip" is woefully inadequate/underfunded public education system. Which has been actively worsened by the trump admin. And now because it's so bad, you support further defunding the schools because they suck anyways?
Sounds more like you just wanted to defund public school so you can get a discount to send your kiddos to a private school.

If you have your children in a public school in Texas (which I know that you do not), they are being forced by government mandates and leverage from both state and federal level into an epidemiological experiment for the Fall semester. The leverage they are using to shove this down our throats is provided by our own tax dollars. I do not like that, you seem just fine with it (probably because you don't have children who are being directly impacted). As I indicated in the post that you quoted, the solutions don't have to resemble libertarian fantasy island. But rhetorically I understand why you want to play on fantasy island.
Lmao, so you're using the uniquely and historically bad behavior of the trump admin in sabotaging public schooling to justify the voucher system to take funds away from public schools because they're so bad?
This is some next-level intellectual dishonesty from you man. Well done

School choice is the R's trojan horse for school vouchers. They want to be able to use tax money to pay for religious education. School choice is logistically a pipe dream and the Rs know it. They wont give two shits about the kids from lower socioeconomic backgrounds struggles with school choice once the only demographic they care about gets to use vouchers to pay for jesus schoolin.
It's the new mechanism for segregating schools while still getting federal funding. It's just religion instead of skin color

A very, very simple and predictable take from an attorney. I’ll respond in more detail later, but giving politics credit for the drop in crude this Spring is really stupid. That was the noisy headline and had little to do with it.
What are you talking about? The low oil prices are being driven in part by depressed demand, but OPEC and Russia are in a price war that's driving the price down and putting American fracking wells into the red. Shale only works above a certain price per barrel, and OPEC knows that and is exploiting that by not reducing production

Fair, but I guess my point is that TEA and educators generally are being pressured to reopen schools and have exactly zero guidance for COVID mitigation from Dept of Ed. or any other relevant bodies aside from "reopen or else"
