  1. FWIW - The (Chicago) Bears started an UDFA rookie QB from Div II Shepherd this weekend. Bears rolled using a run-heavy game plan and didn't ask the QB to do anything other than get the ball out quick. I'm hoping we see similar from Sark this weekend - time to use all the runs in the playbook. OZ, IZ, jet sweeps, Red-Cat, JaTavion Cat. It needs to be like that episode of Ted Lasso where he solicits trick plays from his players. Unlike that Shepherd kid - Murphy has a howitzer attached to his shoulder - but its stil his first start and we shouldn't be asking him to lead the offense even if he is mentally/physically capable.
  2. Ewers threw the ball 6 times after that - including 4 straight completions after the sack. Then Ewers ran and crushed his other shoulder before throwing two incompletions and then field goal.
  3. Justin Wells (IT) pretty much waving the white flag on Wingo today. Said Missouri is clearly the leader and Texas would have to get Wingo back on campus to even have a shot. Wells said WR Izaiah Williams is setting up an OV to Texas. Recent LSU de-commit and injured WR Joseph Stone has a Texas offer and reached out recently but Texas staff is not as interested as they were before the injury.
  4. FWIW - Gerry (IT) put out an article, shortly after Miller decommitted from aggy, about what prospects Texas might pursue should that class implode. The only player Gerry thinks Texas will actively recruit is TyAnthony Smith. Unfortunately it looks as though Red Bryant, a former aggy player, has some influence and is making life difficult for Texas in this recruitment. He listed Weston Davis and Dominick McKinley as players Texas would take a phone call from - but those players and their families are going to have to make the first move. Blake Ivey is likely out of the picture if Texas can flip Deandre Carter. Myles Davis would be a backup option if Texas is unable to flip Xavier Filsaime.
  5. Abusing? Lol Abusing is a little hyperbolic - but it is coaching malpractice to play that kid that many snaps, especially coming off an injury.
  6. PFF doesn't do snap counts for WR's - best you can get is the number of pass snaps the WR played. Here are the snap count leaders for CB: Hunter has played 273 defensive snaps in 4 games per PFF Here are the pass snap leaders for WR: Hunter is third on his team with 167 pass snaps
  7. They are not going to do that - but even if they did the NCAA now allows players to portal out if a Head Coach is fired.
  8. Through 66 games: Kevin Sumlin: 44-22 Jimbo Fisher: 43-23
  9. Sure - but that’s not how Sark coaches the skill positions. I think it was Rod Babers who described it this way - ‘Sark spends the whole game waiting for the right defense against the play called to exploit a particular defender - he’s not going to waste it by having his 5th or 6th best WR out there when it happens’. Sure, it would help recruiting - but so will putting up huge numbers on offense and winning games.
  10. Mel Tucker found out.
  11. Holy shit what a finish. What is Neal Brown complaining to the refs about?
  12. Someone should tell Blake that the Texas-OU game is treated like a home/away and not as a 'neutral-site' game.
  13. IT has talked about it a little bit - they're guess/hypothesis was that the staff might have thought Brooks was more effective after defense had been beat on a little bit. Baxter is a bigger more physical runner and the idea would be to overpower defenses from the start.
  14. Look at all that green - and how evenly distributed the play-calling is. Sark doesn't have tendencies and everything is successful because they can't key on anything.
  15. Brooks is so good at making himself as compact as possible getting through the line and when contact comes - allows him to keep his balance and keep moving forward. I think that is the biggest difference right now between Brooks and Baxter is that Brooks has such good balance that one hit isn't knocking him over like it is Baxter.
  16. From the Athletic article I posted earlier: “Sark is the best play caller I’ve ever faced. He hardly had any tendencies going in, and if he did, he broke them during our game. He really keeps you off balance. They have a great chance to make a deep run.” The Big 12 coach added a grim warning of sorts for the rest of their conference — and perhaps for the SEC, which will be home to the Longhorns next year: “They are better live than on film.”
  17. T'Vondre is that dude:
  18. No, Alabama's 2 starting safeties were not out against Texas. Alabama rotates 3 safeties - all 3 have 300+ snaps and have played in all 5 games.
  19. 9 of their 18 recruits are WRs or DB/S - so, yes?
  20. Sweat played the most snaps last season (among DTs) as well. 50 more snaps than 2nd place Coburn. Getting Sweat back for his COVID year was one of the most underrated moves of the 2023 offseason for Texas. 2022 season
  21. Shemar Turner is an Edge in PFF position list. He's graded 79.7 - just above Murphy.
