  1. Georgia just recruited Dominic Lovett and RaRa Thomas out of the portal - maybe AD was already looking around and wants to be closer to home and NIL. But I'll believe it when I see it.
  2. This dude is blowing up. Already has offers from Colorado, WVU, Houston, Arkansas, aggy, OUsucks, and many others. Texas ADOPP, JM Jones, is following Tyrone.
  3. Even fewer snaps for Jean-Baptiste:
  4. He's got some 'interesting' stats. Only played about 22 snaps a game - mostly as a pass rusher (200 pass rush snaps and 116 run support). Had 8 sacks but only had 21 pressures in 14 games for 1.5 pressures a game.
  5. Nahlin had mentioned him as someone Texas would be interested in. Per On3 rankings - here are the top uncommitted WR's in the portal and their ranking: Dante Cephas - Kent St (8) Kevin Coleman - Jackson St (19) Xavier Weaver - USF (22) DeQuece Carter - Fordham (23) Dante Thornton - Oregon (24)
  6. Would be a Super Senior - has increased his sack total every year. He had 15 sacks the season before. Despite only 3 sacks this season he had 39 pressures. Michigan already picked him up so its moot.
  7. The Coastal Carolina kid was a good one - Josaiah Stewart. Also OU had the package deal with McCullough brothers. The 'not Byron Vaughns' Edge at Utah St, Daniel Grzesiak, is really good and still uncommitted.
  8. From IT's notes regarding portal: They need a third RB (after Brooks & Baxter) - someone who can move a pile. Need WR's - clock is ticking and Texas needs to pick up the pace. Need a healthy Catalon Edge will come from internal development Re LB, Will is easiest to play for young players and will likely have Ford to guide them.
  9. Not wanting to count on a true freshman /= shitting on a recruit. Yes, I would prefer experienced proven players over not experienced and not proven. We should be using the portal to pull the best players available at positions of weakness - like LB, Edge, WR, and Safety.
  10. Bobby (IT) mentioned that Texas could be looking for a veteran RB to join the room.
  11. Adari Haulcy was top 20 in the country among Safetys in coverage last year on PFF. He regularly played Slot Corner in Rocky Long's 3-3-5 defense as part of his Rover duties. PK had no problem using 225lb George Iloka at Safety at Boise - and Taylor Rapp while only 210 was a slower more physical safety that excelled in PK's defense.
  12. Bobby (IT) out with a report on the portal this morning. Jalen Catalon and OSU Safety Thomas Harper are two safeties Texas currently has an eye on Texas still looking to take 1-2 WR's from the portal. Texas 'dipped their toes in' on Singer and Armstrong but both WRs committed before Texas fully engaged. Bobby writes "I believe this week should be somewhat revealing on the receiver front." No OL or LB expected from portal If a 'big name' pass rusher enters Texas will compete but otherwise don't expect an addition at ED/Edge/edge
  13. Broden and Anderson are both Detroit kids - maybe we can get a package deal and save on airfare.
  14. I'm a huge Catalon fan and I hope Texas can sign him - but Haulcy would have been a great pickup wherever they played him. Yeah - he's a biscuit away from being a LB - but that's fine he can play in the box and we keep Thompson at FS. With Catalon's injury history we really shouldn't count on him - we should be looking at anything he can give as a bonus.
  15. Adari Haulcy would have raised the floor of the Safety room. Instead we'll trot out a fucking freshman or convert a DB to Safety and watch him look completely fucking lost. But, no worries, that next wave of uber-talented portal entrants is going to happen any day now.
  16. We better call Tyrone... 6'7" 210. Caught 68 balls for 1100 yards and 12 TDs the last 2 seasons. https://bgsufalcons.com/sports/football/roster/tyrone-broden/9187
  17. PFF graded Brooks with a lower tackling grade than Holmes.
  18. I would hope if Jones is back that Cam Williams is given the opportunity to win one OG spot (and that DJ Campbell is at the other).
  19. Yep. Only concern with Skinner is that if he does enter the portal his former WR coach (Emmett Jones) is now the PGC at Tech.
  20. Also had multiple knee injuries. Alexis didn't play his Sr year of high school because of a knee injury.
  21. As will Deandre Moore if needed. But the chances that more than 1 true freshman WR (Cook) will get snaps is pretty pretty low.
  22. FWIW - Brennan Marion just started following a couple of new WR's. The most recent is 6'5" Kansas WR Quentin Skinner. Skinner caught 26 balls for 440 yds and 5 TD's for the Jayhawks last season. He's a class of 2020 who RS'd and then saw limited action in 2021. A former walk-on he was a finalist for the Burlsworth trophy this season. As far as I can tell he's not in the portal. Yet. Certainly has the big catch radius Texas is allegedly looking for. https://kuathletics.com/roster/quentin-skinner/ Previous to Skinner, Marion started following the USF WR Xavier Weaver who announced his intent to enter the portal a few days ago. The 6'1" WR has caught 94 balls for 1400+ yards and 8 tds in the last two seasons (19 games) https://gousfbulls.com/sports/football/roster/xavier-weaver/13995
  23. Does this pursuit of Catalon mean that other safety options are no longer options. The only other offer, Ja'had Carter, looks like he is going to Ohio St. Did other players they were pursuing decide to not enter the portal?
