  1. Austin Scott is a good fall guy. Loves him some defense spending, not too Trumpy, and not too obnoxious. Falling on the sword like a good soldier from a safe district.
  2. “For you who are about to die, I salute you.”
  3. Jordan as speaker would basically become the Executive Producer for Fox News. He would put as many democrats on public trial as possible. Biden impeachment proceedings would be cranked up to eleven and he’d probably put the FBI on trial again. He’d be a complete disaster legislatively but so would anyone else.
  4. The fatal flaw of the fascist is they are ultimately self destructive. However the timeline and body counts may vary.
  5. I would describe it as a fascist movement which I loosely define as a violent anti-democratic destructive force built on lies, hate, and the absence of any core beliefs except the lust for power and domination. I know not all Republicans consider themselves part of this but that’s where their party has been headed, more so since January 6th, 2021. I mean, they are about to nominate Donald Trump for a THIRD straight time and all the Chris Christies, Mike Pences, and Chris Sununus of the party will fall right in line, again. It’s a fascist movement/political party.
  6. The current Republican Party’s guiding and foundational ideology is their opposition to democrats, which isn’t really an ideology but more of an opposition to one. Yes, they are internally divided on issues like election denying and Trump fealty but their collective opposition to democrats is the only thing holding the R party together.
  7. Leadership and accountability isn’t in their skill set anymore. These are mostly career performance artists performing for an audience that has been conditioned to despise government in general.
  8. The Jeffries idea is so incredibly far fetched. It reminds of the delusions from 2017 to attempt to get a few GOP senators to caucus with the Democrats. The democrats are correctly going to continue to push for this idea but it’s all just a backhanded way to highlight the GOP’s incompetence. To put it another way, the Republicans would first try to secede from the Union before elevating a Democrat to Speaker of the House.
  9. He sold this country out way before Trump and the tea party came to town.
  10. Mitch got his judges and tax cuts. Say what you will about his methods but the guy has been among the most competent republicans in office.
  11. Nope, not a chance. They need to come up with another patsy or bring McCarthy back. The Jeffries talk is cute but not going to happen, at least not anytime soon.
  12. Incredible but not surprising.
  13. This movement is so incredibly dangerous and will be the cause of significant harm for decades to come. That’s the worst part of this, we’re all going to have to live with this shit for a long time because it’s near impossible to deprogram a blind fanaticism that merges religion and politics into a significant fundamentalist movement.
  14. Perhaps our reality/shared existence is built on an insurmountable foundation of bullshit that fertilizes the ground for gullible people to buy into seductive conspiracy theories.
  15. So the government is probably shutting down in 5 weeks again.
  16. The funny thing is you have to be crazy as a Republican to want this job. Like whoever ends up as the Speaker (applies to GOP only) will most likely be out of politics by the next presidential election. It’s like electing someone to death row and I’m so here for it.
  17. Odds of first ballot success? negative billion
  18. This is going to be a huge train wreck. Jim Jordan can’t be speaker, he just can’t. Scalise is only slightly less problematic.
  19. Hunger Games except only billionaires are eligible for compulsory competition. We can call it the Horder Games. Winner gets to keep half their wealth.
  20. I walked around the galleria in Houston on Friday and I noticed most stores have very little inventory in their spaces. Also disappointed to see Bennigan’s is gone near the ice skating rink and there’s no arcade. Sad times.
  21. So you’re saying the solution would be conclusive? (delicately playing with fire here)
  22. Heartbreaking
