  1. Edited to add: But seriously, that was how I read that small snippet that was posted. Have no idea the full context of Nahlin's other thoughts. Was just responding to that post, which seemed to offer some support for Ash's ability to teach as a DC, regardless of the conference.
  2. It's pretty clear (at least to me) that he's being sarcastic to the numerous individuals at IT who, like many posters here, are complaining that being a DC in the B1G is much easier than being one in the Big 12. He's joking that teaching tackling must be easier in the B1G, too, because Ash did a good job coaching that.
  3. This is a relatively large signal that IT thinks Ash is the hire, and they're trying to get their subs excited about him. Honestly, though, I know Ash would demonstrate a failure of Herman to actually go find better available coaches. But if he can teach our defense to line up, play assignment sound, and tackle, we will be a top 25 defense year in and year out.
  4. Also known as the 2011 David Ash overthrow offense?
  5. Calvin Johnson's head coach while at Georgia Tech was Chan Gailey; not Paul Johnson.
  6. I can't fathom having to work in an open-plan office and try to post on Surly from my desktop computer. You should quit your current shitty job and get a big-boy position with an office and a door everything.
  7. Can we trade him for an outstanding coach who’s a decent recruiter? Congratulations, you've hired:

  12. Dajon me Daj me on I'll be gone in a day or two.
  13. Some people call him the gangster of love
  14. Or maybe it's because Jamison has been our best, most consistent corner this year?
  15. Honestly, my biggest gripe with this formation is that it puts Joseph Ossai ~13 yards away from the Quarterback. That means that even if he got a free, straight-line run at the passer, it would take him 1.6 (or so) seconds to get there.
  16. Also, for those who are interested in the historical evolution (and flat-circleness) of football, generally. Here's a snapshot of USC running a Bear front defense a long time ago: Look familiar?
  17. Haven't watched as much Bama this year, as they've played few "good" games. But they ran the Tite front almost every down last year.
  18. Here are some examples, you dumbass piece of shit. Any more response on our CB play the last few weeks?
  19. Our safety play this year has been really bad. Like unfathomably bad. Our LBs in pass coverage have been liabilities, as well. But, really, it's been safeties just getting absolutely roasted by guys running wide open right past them. Frankly, we'd probably be better off just going to something like a very simple man scheme from our nickel package with safety help over the top.
  20. I was promised that Todd Orlando could make chicken salad from "lesser parts," so... Also, I think a big issue has been the required cross-training at safety. As an example, BJ Foster has spent time at every safety position so far this year, even despite missing multiple games because of injury. He started at Nickel (a new safety position he had to learn after last year at Joker). Then moved over to Joker when Overshown got hurt. He moved to FS after Sterns went down, and he was at BS in Jones' place after he went out against KU. It's no surprise Foster looks completely lost on the field.
  21. You suggested we fire and replace every single one of our position coaches. That's a dumb take, bordering on absurd. The fact that you're doubling down on it--while acknowleding our CB play has improved but asserting that improvement is a symptom of coaching incompetence--puts you right around bivalve on the critical thinking scale.
