  1. Our offense is good and looks poised to continue to improve as we develop OL and recruit better skill position players. But if I had any wish, it would be finding someone who is obsessed with offensive spacing to marry to Herman's smashmouth spread style. I would love to see someone emphasize spacing/defenders in conflict to Herman and couple that with Herman's route tree and offensive philosophy. Think of Veer and Shoot-style spacing (how many times did we have D'Onta break a single tackle and run 50+ yards for the TD in 2016), coupled with the Mills route combination, effective use of Bubble screen, middle screen, the power/slant RPO, etc. I'm basically imagining an offense that looked like the Kendall Briles/Lane Kiffin FAU offense from 2017. I think it would be unstoppable.
  2. Yes, it is. Because our cornerback progression demonstrates exactly what you're saying you wish we had. I think Washington has done a solid job this year.
  3. You should look into him. He's super interesting. He's an advocate of "positionless" defense. Bateman is basically the Mike Leach of defense. He only has six "plays"/blitzes, but he reps them from a variety of formations. So his guys know exactly what to do on any given play, because they only have to learn six things. But they rep variations on formation over and over again, so the guy who was LB last play may be Safety the next play and DE on third down. So it confuses the offense as to what blitzer might be coming, who to block, and who not to block.

  5. This is too dramatic. Our cornerback play has consistently improved since Game 1, even through suffering tons of injuries and having to cycle players. Our CBs were bad against La Tech and LSU. But they have steadily improved through the course of this year, just as we all hoped they would. Cook, Jamison and Boyce were the lone effective palyers on our defense against KU, and they've generally played well since Oklahoma State. Everyone is complaining about our pass defense, but the real culprit is our safety and linebacker play--not our CBs.
  6. Let's just cycle a new DC every year. It's clear that bringing in a new DC makes the DC focus on installing the fundamentals of his defensive scheme (instead of the ridiculous "plays"), and spend an inordinate amount of time on technique with our players (instead of repping ridiculous zone blitz variations). I know it's kind of a dumb idea, but I don't think I'm kidding.
  7. Candidates that I think ought to be on the table. None of these names are going to blow anyone's socks off, so they'll probably never happen. But they're what I'd be trying to do, if I was Herman and wanted to actually fix the problem instead of money-whipping a "known" name that was going to come in and perpetuate the problem. Jon Heacock - Iowa State - has been really solid as DC at Iowa State, even with their talent problem. Runs a defense complimentary to Campbell's scheme, which is similar to Herman's scheme. Has experience frustrating air raid teams in the Big XII. Jay Bateman - UNC - previously at Army. Has been a "though leader," to the extent that exists in football, regarding the defensive response to Air Raid football. Coached several years, successfully at Army under Monken, before getting hired by Mack at UNC this past offseason.' Mike MacIntyre - has coached several good defenses. Could potentially by reunited with Jim Leavitt who, together, put together a couple of fantastic defenses at Colorado. It all fell apart after Leavitt left, but that potential combo is intriguing. There are a few other guys worth hanging around the rim for, in case their schools decide to make a change this offseason: Will Muschamp (I know, but seriously) Pat Fitzgerald Dave Doeren Justin Wilcox This is going to be a really unpopular comment, but he's a good defensive coach: Do you bring in someone like D.J. Durkin in an analyst role or potentially a position-coach role?
  8. But why male models?
  9. Coach on the field?
  10. OU being good too isn't helping The impact of a Texas that actually evaluates talent is already showing up in TCU's on-field performance. They are no longer able to fill out their roster with guys that should be high-level recruits that all the services miss because Texas overlooks them.
  11. when you're trying to import/export potato chips, but all you get is this lousy set of blueprints...
  12. This is the kind of fan idiocy after a loss I always enjoy. Duvernay Feasted on WR screens against both LSU and La Tech. We were also fantastic in the RB dump and WR bubble against WVU, but didn't call them consistently enough to capitalize. Then on Saturday, when they weren't working at all, we were spamming them.
  13. Fuck that is AWESOME Love the way herm goes all out for analysts.
  14. The fact that there are some posters who dont have futureman muted is mind boggling.
  15. Definitely me.

  18. Lol a three star private school kid. Arky Chad wyd?
  19. Real straight shooter. Upper management written all over him.
  20. Joe Brady is calling the plays and controlling scheme. All those booth shots from the Texas game made that pretty clear. Also, I feel pretty confident that unless LSU implodes down the stretch, Brady will earn himself a Head Coaching job this offseason with LSU's on-field performance.
  21. These guys need to learn the difference between hurt and injured. I mean, yeah, maybe you're bleeding uncontrollably from your eyes, ears, and anus. But you can still run cant you???
  22. KU is Iowa Stating OU early in this game. Let's see if they have the horses to stick with it for 4 quarters.
  23. I vehemently disagree with Hank Scorpio's opinion, and I have feelings about him as a person because of it.
  24. I don't disagree with you, if it were the first game of the year and we were at full strength. Given some of our injuries right now, I think I'd take Texas up to -17 or so.
