  1. The thing that would have been tough about being an A&M fan watching the Clemson game is that Jimbo never even tried to win that game; all he tried to do was keep Clemson from blowing A&M's doors off by chewing clock and taking short yardage plays down the field. I know Texas lost this past weekend, but contrast the approach in play styles: Herman going for it on fourth down in the red zone twice, instead of settling for field goals. Calling the timeout before half to try and get some points before heading into the locker room. Unfortunately, on Saturday each of those decisions went LSU's way and not Texas'. But if a single one of them goes Texas' way, Texas probably beats LSU. That's why Herman is a great big game coach--he's an extremely aggressive situational coach in big games. Jimbo never even tried to put his team in a position to pull off an upset like that--even after they controlled the ball almost the entire first quarter.
  2. Is this not the jivenest place on the interwebz, where all us cool cat brothers hang out?
  3. I am hilarious, and all you motherfuckers are undeserving of my magnanimity.
  4. O.J. is supposedly thought of as an AD with a great ability to motivate the athletes, as they're all terrified of being cut.
  5. If they do make that hire, look for him to replace Helton with UVa's head coach. O.J. loves a white Bronco.
  6. He doesn't have any experience as an AD, but I've heard he's willing to take a stab at it.
  7. Is that Melissa McCarthy? /nokatfid
  8. Too soon, dude, shit.
  9. Is that even good?
  10. You realize the end zone is ten yards deep, right?
  11. We have jobs, because we went to an accredited university and, thus, were able to attain gainful employment upon graduation. I know that's uncommon in Louisiana, but it's par for the course for Texas grads.
  12. Pretty sure this would've been the trick play there: They love running this near the EZ:
  13. I'm not sure I would entirely agree with this. I will say that Burrow showed very little ability to walk through a progression in what I saw. But he is more than willing to see his first option covered up and dump the ball down to an outlet RB sitting right at the line of scrimmage. When the outlet receiver is covered up, Burrow has a very difficult time making good decisions with the ball.
  14. Not to go full Katfid here, but is that the lead actor from Save the Last Dance?
  15. Georgia has a significantly more advanced offense than LSU does and a significantly better quarterback, with the caveat that Burrow's legs were the difference in many games last year, where he eked out enough tough yards on the ground for LSU to move the chains and win. He also helped soften defenses up to the run, by forcing the defense to account for himself.
  16. I think that's part of it. The other part is going to be Burrow carrying the ball 15-20 times. In high leverage situations last year, they opened up defenses by running him. They'll do the same tomorrow. I think the biggest key to the game is whether our safeties make him pay when he tucks the ball and runs. I'll add that I'm very excited to see Overshown run down and shitblast Burrow a few times tomorrow. I think LSU will think twice about running Burrow after that happens a few times in the first quarter.

  18. Just found the actually identical RPO play against La Tech in 2018 (with a give read against La Tech): La Tech: GSU:
  19. And here's a similar RPO to the one LSU scored on, from their 2018 game against Rice--although the run action against Rice was inside zone and against GSU was power: Rice: GSU:
  20. I think this is right. Both DLs are better than their OL adversaries. Although I posit that the gap of Texas' DL over LSU's is wider than the gap of LSU's DL over Texas' OL. LSU's oline sucks.
  21. Would need to do some digging into last year to see whether the pass concepts shown against GSU were really different from what LSU has historically shown. The RPO action they hit for the first TD has been a CFB staple for almost a decade now, so I would be stunned if that wasn't already in LSU's repertoire. Here's the exact same switch route combination run in last year's Fiesta Bowl against UCF that LSU scored on against GSU: UCF: GSU: Here's an inside zone/WR screen RPO package against UCF, too. Maybe this isn't a true RPO, but it is certainly supposed to look like one:
  22. Good point on the tempo. That was a HUGE difference in what I saw from GSU. Texas fans will tell you that coupling super high tempo without great results can lead to some disasters, though (see, e.g., Texas' Hurry Up and Go Three and Out Offense against Notre Dame in 2016). 23. Did the "scheme" against GSU really look that different from years past? Other than that the rushing attack looked like absolute shit, and Burrow took very few snaps from under center?
  24. Ketch immediately after those three minutes:
