  1. Interesting that you say “hide shit from parents”. Do you think the fact the student shared with her counselor/school staff about these issues and not her parents indicates she isn’t comfortable discussing them with her parents? If the parents had the close, supportive relationship with their child they suggest, the child would likely open up to them about situations. There was a reason the student did not want her parents to know. And you obviously have not been in schools much, as kids talk about relationships quite often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. I really try to consider every opinion with an open mind, realizing we all have different values, thought processes, cultures, etc. But some of you make this so fucking difficult. I am a school counselor and former kindergarten teacher. You are clueless about appropriate child development and socialization if you think kids don’t share about their homes, families and daily activities on the regular. Tell me how it would affect a student if I redirected the conversation after he or she shared about mom’s remarriage , which happened to be to another woman. Here’s a clue: it invalidates them, makes them feel like something is wrong about them. That child has just as much right to share their mom’s wedding as the child whose mom married a man . Imagine this scenario happens repeatedly throughout the child’s education—tell me about their self-esteem and sense of safety and belonging. Tell me what other students internalize when they realize this kid with the two moms is not welcome to share their life experiences. Am I to forbid them from bringing pictures for our family wall when we follow the developmentally appropriate lessons written for kindergarten? I’ve been a counselor for 16 years in areas from the RGV to The Woodlands. I promise you there are many more gay people than certain posters realize. I’m not suggesting we need in-depth discussions of the acts of sexuality in elementary school, but I’m damn sure not going to make a student feel less than their peers because a family member, or the student, likes a person of the same sex. I’m in a conservative school district outside of Austin now as a middle school counselor and my students actually approach this with way more of an open mind than some of you posting. 4. What do you believe he stretched or plagiarized in his quote? From Feb 2017 Philadelphia Business Journal: Former Vice President Joe Biden's post-White House life will include an office and professorship in Philadelphia. Biden will lead a new center on campus, the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, and was named the Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor at the Ivy League institution. He doesn’t even mention his 17 years as adjunct professor of Constitutional law at Widener University/Delaware Law School before retiring to become VP. So, actually it’s the opposite of exaggerating. 5. Listening well is an important part of comprehension and good faith discussion. He actually says “I’ve been on a lot of university campuses” and uses his time at Penn as one example. It’s hard to take you seriously if you don’t apply this skill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I am a school counselor working on my LPC to go into private practice. I know this can beat you down, but I want to applaud you for taking it seriously. Genuine concern and positive action from parents is vital, but sadly is not the norm. Just by “showing up” you’re letting your daughter know you value her and she is not alone. Depression is a liar which whispers insidiously that one is alone/no one cares, but your support calls out the lie. It will be a rough road, but y’all can forge it together. If you have any questions I’d be happy to help.
  7. DP LET’SJUST SAY I’M REALLY REALLY EXCITED

  10. I’m a school counselor...when I worked in Houston we ALL went through metal detectors every damn day. My elementary kids never complained but these assholes fucking come unglued. Less than a week after they were under siege. I just can’t anymore...joining Brisket on the ledge.
  11. Fuck that asshole!! I’ve never detested someone so much. What a weakass statement. Don’t know why I expected more than self-indulgent meaningless words.
  12. My heart breaks for you and your family. I’m so sorry. Sending prayers and love to you all.

  21. I started reading this to kill time at the dr. office ( 4 hours for a ‘rona test-but all good). Then-omg-I got sucked down the rabbit hole. I had no idea of all the drama below the surface of surly. Now all of the odd questions I was asked when I requested assistance w/posting make sense—in a nonsensical way. I’m horrified/intrigued/disgusted/addicted to the fitlump saga! It’s so bad but I can’t turn away. Ricky, Roman...I’m just speechless. This is an odd but masterful work of art.
  22. Knowing this now...more tears! [emoji170][emoji3590]
  23. YES!!! This is my fave dotard meme.! Cooper’s description nailed him, but seeing the visual sealed it. Like I might frame this shit!
