  1. Not real sure how to respond to this without getting some time off from the site. But fuck it, whatever. You're the status quo. Your money and your fucking votes built the machine. Your money and your votes helped push reactionary legislation and impact litigation through Washington. Heller and McDonald and all the senseless fucking deaths in their wake exist solely because of the people you enabled. Your ilk fucking denied Sandy Hook ever. fucking. happened. Now you want to prattle on about magazine capacity and lecture the rest of us because we're just too damn dumb to "get gun violence", all while clutching your AR15 to your chest like an aggy with his favorite possum carcass. Because we're the ones with all the legislative power in this fucking scenario? Contemptible and pathetic. Fire up some more bar graphs and memories of whatever random animal a random member of your family managed to kill. I'm sure you modern day warriors have all sorts of articles about Chicago and crisis actors and capacity and cartridge and clips and blah blah fucking blah how it's everyone else's fucking fault except you responsible gun owners. That shit goes a long way to justify your position to the folks getting gunned down in schools and outlet malls and basically wherever the fuck else more than three people may gather. Well, not everywhere since the NRA, CPAC, and RNC don't allow firearms at their conventions. They just like to take pictures with them out on the sidewalk I guess. Clean up the mess in your fucking interest and lobbying group. You're the one with the fucking access. Move, be moved, or fuck off.
  2. Thoughts and prayers.
  3. Been waffling on this in my own head. On the one hand, feels a bit ghoulish for a city on a hill. On the other, the immediate future is only going to look back on this shitshow in one light: as a blueprint. You don’t stop fascists by cutting deals with them to lay out of politics or by slapping them on the wrist with jail sentences that aren’t even as stiff as some drug possession convictions. You stop them by reminding them of how it ended for Mussolini. Guess I’ll meet you at the Esso station.
  4. Also also, you want effective mental health infrastructure. From my daily interactions with the gun fetishists, their solution to the mental health issue is eerily similar to all those Odessa Walmart camps they were freaking out about. Just toss the crazy people in the warehouse, give them some haldol drips, and padlock the doors. Then they can get back to the business of blowing up shit with tannerite and modern sporting rifles. And indiscriminately killing folks, as the opportunity arises. ETA: Also patrolling their local Walmart / Wendy's with their modern sporting rifles slung over the shoulders, just like in the Constitution.

  6. As a member of the working poors, I really don't give a fuck how much it costs a fellow working poor to register / license / insure a fucking gun. Right to bear the burden to bear arms, bucko.
  7. Too many pride flags and books.
  8. Well. Except for pride flags. Red hats typically just shoot folks for having them on display.
  9. Yeah. He was unsurprisingly fine with this. Until last week when someone called in a bomb threat to his house. He was awful quick to denounce those particular threats as terroristic.
  10. These folks are so fucking put upon. How do they manage getting through the day without shielding their anti-social homeschool kids from... Marxism? Truly inspirational.
  11. Texas 52 Rice 10 Ewers = 257 and yanked after 1st drive of the 3rd quarter.
  12. Agreed. I know the Best High Court Money Can Buy has been goosing the religious liberty side of their First Amendment equations, but that doesn't make it any less insidious. Zealots will continue to use "muh religious liberty" as a shield for their shitty behavior until that shield gets removed. Punching asshole Christians is apparently frowned upon, so yeah, I'm all for turning the tax man loose on these fuckers and watching them run.
  13. The folks that misspell poster board slogans about keeping government out of government benefits?
  14. Terry Funk died for this?!
  15. I wonder if adrenachrome is a cure for bad blood?
  16. Chief Justice Roberts told me that racism was dead. PragerU apparently tells Florida that brown folks should thank white folks for not being as cruel as they could have been. Fuck we may have to fight this out after all.
  17. Easy now. We on the left are being accused of ruining national discourse because we won't grant ground to... *checks note* more guns in school and *flips page* more government restriction on Internet porn. Both sides, y'know. Edited to add: the third page of my notes mentions something about government taking a hand in helping parents with access to Internet porn being good, but funding public schools or enacting gun laws to protect kids against gun violence and starvation is bad. Priorities are coming in hot from the faux-centrists.
  18. The knots these folks are willing to twist themselves into to avoid saying "slavery is bad" is a little bit hilarious and terrifying at the same time. These folks are fucking gone.
  19. https://tulsaworld.com/news/local/crime-courts/more-school-bomb-threats-keep-investigators-busy-parents-worried/article_89b4b9f2-4350-11ee-9260-dbd6c22abf62.html Thanks in large part to an evil alt-right social media account, an evil grifter/nihilist running the state's education policies, and lots of christofascist grievances that need to be revenged upon kids just trying to go to fucking school and teachers doing their fucking jobs. They're going to do their absolute damnedest to burn everything to the ground.
  20. I'm with you. I think there might be a shift coming, but I have no idea what it looks like. I do think we're on an unsustainable track vis-à-vis what "wealth" means in this country and what it can, and also what it refuses to, accomplish. The fundamental power behind wealth, and the myriad ways it can and is weaponized, doesn't quite gloss over as easy. It's a harder shine job because we actually see the truth, even though we don't like the look. Maybe it's generational for me, but the old ideas that large swathes of the American population was comfortably in the middle class (with extreme wealth and poverty being simply that, the extremities of the spectrum attributable to "personal factors") has disappeared. Not because we've been brainwashed by evil socialists, but because a lot of us have lived lives where these old myths are wildly out of touch with reality. We've lived lives with much smaller financial margins for error than our parents. Turns out, giant swathes of the American population are actually trapped in a financial hellscape of debt and low-wages, with no hope of escape. Fuck, my parents bragged about the fact that there would be no social security for me. What a wonderful message to your children: all of this socialist safety net stuff is bullshit, but don't worry, there definitely won't be any of it left over for you once we have our way. Only bootstraps for you, my boy. Our modern society, with all of its hate and emphasis on the immediate, has ripped open all those lies that we were told as kids in the 80s and 90s that never quite seemed to fit in real life. We've come to find out that it wasn't about the kids, it was about the control. It wasn't about Jesus, it was about the power. It wasn't about deficits, it was about the giant piles of easy cash. Someone in another thread nailed the idea: we v. Me. I think that's going to be played out across our entire society for the next generation, probably in ways we cannot predict. Financially, I think it will be different. I think it sorta has to be.
