  1. Co-written and inspired by Madison Cawthorn.
  2. Agreed with above on Lower Decks. It’s got a lot of deep cuts for Trekkies (especially 90s Trek), but it’s found its own comedic niche that really works. Character development has been very well done as well. It’s a legit standalone. As for SNW, well, I’m an early 80s kid so the best Trek, for me, was TNG / DS9. SNW is just as good if not better than the best of 90s Trek. It has been very, very good with some deep cuts of its own (i.e., a legit nod/send off to the ENT franchise).

Yeah. I’m in OK with a card so my tolerance is ridiculous. Had one of these before and it helped out my back / shoulder issues better than anything else I’ve ever touched, including narcotics. Tonight’s been a bit more of ride than I intended and hadn’t done much for the pain, but we’re starting that slide down now. Which is really nice.
  4. Yeah. It didn’t feel right. I plead chemical interference. Or intoxication. Maybe both.
  5. Is there some sort of cross fit event requiring the headbutting of a race car helmet?
  6. Legit holy shit at that Lake tweet.

Rolling with a 250 mg Infused Lemonade tonight... looking for a 3/4 body coma.
  8. Sort of figured "eternal youth" would've been a given in any "sell your soul" contract. Figured wrong. So all she got out of the deal was Junior. What a bargain.
  9. Where does cosplaying as an MMA fighter land on the "official or unofficial piece of shit" spectrum? Outside of the McMahons, how many other CEOs are doing shit like this? People still investing money in this show?
  10. Serious-ish question: Are most of the fundamentalists still holding out for the Rapture? I know the "Soldiers of Christ" from the '80s and '90s were all abuzz about it when I was forced through the Small Town Southern Baptist Experience. "Decoding Revelations", Gog and Magog, What Seals Have Been Broken?! and all of that sort of nonsense. That still their core belief? I'm curious because they seem REALLY intent on the whole "establishing a Christian caliphate on earth" thing they've got going now. If they've given up on Transporter Chief Jesus beaming them up, then does that open up the martyrdom card that the abortion clinic bombers used to play? Because... fuck.
  11. If there was a prop bet of "which C-level MAGA will be the first to call for a Trump monarchy," I'd put what little money I've got on this woman. I think she's an opportunist, but her and the crazy lady railing on about making immigrants second class citizens are jockeying for Gestapo positions if democracy slides sideways.
  12. Somewhere, on one of these other threads, we were discussing "educated conservatives". Here's one of their fucking poster boys in all of his ghoulish torture/murder kink glory. Something something something "pro-life party" something something.
  13. It's not productive and I hope you have better luck at it than I did. I'm the outlier in the my family, the rest have all gone smooth-brained MAGA since he won in 2016. We basically severed ties. Holidays get-togethers are conducted under a flag of truce / Romulan neutral zone-type situation. We couldn't reach them in 2018 or 2020, so we just gave up. You're not really arguing from the same place as true believers. You can argue facts and logic, correlation and causation, cognitive dissonance and implicit bias, and none of it matters. It's who they've become. It's fundamental to them. It's like some sort of all consuming drug / religion / tribal high. Their whole worldview has warped to a point where fanfiction keeps this high running at all costs. Even at the expense of their kids and grandkids.
  14. Adrenochrome. From Fear and Loathing and the guy making that call in the film was a fucking joke with a giant cowboy hat as well. They lack the imagination to even come up with new conspiracies. Within the next year, some shitheel will take to some social media outlet warning against kryptonite, gamma rays, and dilithium crystal consumption and thousands of fucking idiots will roll around and smear shit all over themselves in response. It's weaponized willful ignorance, maybe the death rattle of what we've known as American democracy (trying out these Brisket-words). Whatever comes after this will necessarily be different. At least 40%ish of this country isn't going to stop being bigoted shitheels of the first order just because they lose some elections. They'll start blowing up buildings again.
  15. I am finding, on my ridiculous journey through a state law school at 40, that a whole bunch of "educated conservatives" are anything but. They hate just as hard as the rubes and generally have more money and "prestige" to throw around. Also, it's time to stop assuming everyone that has an undergrad has actually been "educated" and thus can be appealed to via empathy or compromise. It's no secret that "schools" are pumping out "conservatives with credentials". See aggy enrollment / graduation numbers.
  16. Not big on musicals, but for my money, SNW has been the best Trek since season 4-7 of DS9 even with some of the goofier hijinks. Maybe its just watching Trek with older eyes and seeing Pike as, more-or-less, Captain "Dad We All Deserve", but SNW (and Lower Decks for us uber-dorks) seems to have found the sweet spot between allegory and escapism from our own modern hellscape.
  17. Don't undersell a rise in stochastic and actual violence. The grifters will keep stirring shit up to ensure the spice flows (they're basically televangelists at this point), but the rank-and-file? They won't need the dogwhistles if it looks like everything is going to shit. It's hyperbolic to refer to every election as "mOsT iMpOrTaNt eLeCtIoN eVaH" but fuck does it feel like it these days.
  18. Also one of Timothy McVeigh's talking points before he mass murdered 168 folks in OKC. It's a call to terrorism.
  19. It's fear and power all the way down. They do the same thing when it comes to FEMA money following natural disasters.
  20. Think we also broke that New Orleans news station's Internet feed for the DCG announcement.
