Thing$ $till not going well for Joe Rogan, I $ee.
The truth is that I’m not sure that I’ve made it through one of his comedy specials. I give him the benefit of the doubt when a new one comes out, but my eyes glaze over. Still, he manages to sell out tours and have Netflix specials. I definitely took Rogan’s side when he destroyed Mencia’s career. Mencia would watch a lesser known comic’s routine with a paper and pen, taking what he liked. Then he would take their spot at the Comedy Store and use their material right in front of them before they could get on stage. He was an evil son of a bitch.

I get it, he’s a meathead. But failed? Jesus, two seconds of googling would tell you that’s a ridiculous statement.

There’s a lot to rag on Rogan about, but failed comedian isn’t one of them.

An aversion to such demands is very normal, it’s the adult version of “I’m telling mom on you.”

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
The current state of inflation has all but wiped out those positives it seems. His polling numbers are quite poor on his handling of the economy, which is obviously subject to change. He really needs this current plan to get passed or some other major legislation to change the narrative.

Some will, of course, but having the suburban women helping you win in Virginia had to feel good. Throwing all of that away seems like a very poor decision, if your goal is to win. Still, I have to allow for the fact that lining their pockets may be more important. It never ceases to amaze me that Republican voters don’t stop ask themselves why an elite is leading their populism movement.

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
A lot of this is going to hinge on what successes Biden can tout during his campaign, which at this point looks rather meh. That could very well change, though. I run in a primarily Republican circle and there’s genuine excitement for the next election cycle. What has been truly shocking is just how little Trump ever comes up, he’s been virtually erased from the conversation. There seems to be a path towards victory that doesn’t involve him, let’s hope they don’t waste the opportunity to cut and run.

In country of 300 million people, why are we electing octogenarians? They do know the minimum age is 35, right?- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
They’re allowed to stay because the north was a gracious victor in many regards. Had a foreign nation been handling the terms it would have probably been more harsh, but it was a family affair after all. But it would really depend on what sympathizers you’re referring to I suppose. Most of the morons waving the Confederate flag on TV have no idea it was a battle flag and was never recognized as a representation of the Confederacy in any capacity. I’ve met a few individuals that can trace their relatives to a certain regiment and are constantly poring over new documents looking for specific names. I can tell they’re excited about their heritage and feel a certain connection to the events that transpired. There’s nothing particularly sinister about the latter group and they seem to be much more numerous, albeit rather silent.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
My point was mostly directed towards the southern milieu of that time, rather than the number of slave owners. Once you realize that they viewed slaves as subhuman, you can begin to understand why slavery was met with an insouciant shrug.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
This is an informative post. One has to also add in the fact that much of America didn’t view slaves as human. They were viewed as somewhere in between human and ape. It’s upsetting to view it from that angle, but it gives one insight into why slavery was so easily rationalized by so many.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
I mean, he just named a bunch of northern abolitionists. It’s strange you guys can’t connect the dots there, but I’m resorting to tautology at this point and I have some beers to drink. Cheers.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
That’s why I said it was important where one was born.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
Unfortunately, most of America didn’t view slaves as people. So chances are that you wouldn’t have either, especially if you were born in a slave state. Would you have been an abolitionist? The probability, statistically speaking, is pretty low. But if you need to believe that, I totally understand.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
You wouldn’t have known any different.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
Well, that would mostly depend on what state you were born in.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
People tell themselves that had they been in Lee’s position they’d abandon their family, friends, and the only way of life they’d ever known to fight with the union. They’re wrong, but I get why they want to believe it.- Taco Bell has launched chicken wings and a taco subscription
I’m convinced Demolition Man was spot on, Taco Bell is our future.- Pollen: Texas ongoing thread
For those of you that live in San Antonio, is the Cedar worse over there? I took the wife and kids to Fiesta Texas last week and it felt like a truck drove over my face, I mean there was a noticeable haze in the air. Cleared right up when I left, really weird stuff.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
The point about secession was more for clarification, rather than a defense of his actions. I think one can acknowledge that he was defending slavery as an institution and also be fascinated by his military leadership. He’s a complicated figure, but I love the topic. My apologies for ruffling any feathers.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
He fought for his people, not secession. It doesn’t make him any less of a traitor and although it’s a narrow distinction, I think it’s a deep one. His victory at Chancellorsville and his ability to grind larger armies to a stand still makes him a genius in my eyes. But to each their own I suppose.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
I would say that Gettysburg was the beginning of the end, but the war was always going to be a union victory. It’s interesting because the Meade had the high ground and Lee was without JEB Stuart’s Calvary that served as his eyes and ears. If the union soldiers hadn’t of held at Cemetery Hill, it may have been a confederate victory. It’s hard to imagine how much guts it took to hold that line.- Confederate Heroes' Day - Jan 19
Actually, he was against secession. He chose to fight alongside his people, which most did in that war. That’s really beside the point though, he’ll be remembered for his military genius. - 2024 Presidential Election What ifs and speculation
