  1. Right now, who cares!
  2. I liked all the Gabriel to OU posts so I can't put a poop emoji on your comment -- but know it's there in spirit.
  3. With Ewers as the apparent UT QB, is it the right time to make grooming jokes?
  4. Please spend your time on this -- it hurts me deeply.
  5. Exactly. So this gives you a chance to centralize the discussion. Your schadenfreude has a home.
  6. Getting a QB that fits Lebby's system is a start 🤩
  7. Riley would take him in a second. The family moved to F-in Norman from DC so they'll go anywhere. I think they're probably out on Riley for the following reasons: - Riley didn't play Caleb even though there were rumblings that Caleb > Rattler in camp. - Riley didn't figure out how to beat a zone. - Riley was distracted all season. - Riley up and left without a care. To a family this invested, this matters. - USC will be much worse than OU was last year next year. Pick your school on the poll.
  8. Rather than near DC, I'm thinking a more cultured space. UNC, ND, and Miami would qualify. Clemson and Oxford, MS wouldn't. Clemson's offensive staff is brand new, their offense sucked this year, DJ's still there. UNC's OL sucked, and the team wasn't great overall. Williams went to a Catholic HS in DC. ND is the type of place that Gonzaga probably sends 5-6 kids to every year. I don't see why people think ND won't have big NIL. It's a national brand with wealthy alumni. The QB development track record isn't there, but they generally have a good OL, and Marcus Freeman is a charismatic guy who I think Williams could identify with.
  9. 37 on offense and 36 on defense, including this years class. This includes two portals already (TE, G). Minus Caleb and Mario Williams, that leaves 35 on offense. I said this on this board a week ago. OU would've had to go into the portal hard already because this is a big class leaving and they lost steam on most of the high school recruits they had in their sights when Riley left. Defensive improvement could come with more sound schemes, better skill development, better S&C, better snap distribution. All of this could be true based on improvement in defensive staff and S&C. Counterbalancing this is that the best four players on defense left for the league, and all should be drafted. Offensive improvement could come from a better running game because of better OL play and RB. OL play this year was hampered by poor conditioning and lack of development at OT. Better S&C and scheme could yield better OL play. OU brings in two top 10 backs this year to replace Kennedy Brooks. If the QB is replacement level, OU wins between 7 - 9 in the regular season. If they get Caleb back or Dillon Gabriel, OU's top ten again.
  10. Of course. What's your question?
  11. Agree with Kiffin it's always a crap shoot. Penn St is near DC (relatively), but their offense is hooorrrible.
  12. I agree, and I think we should believe them. The kid and family have proceeded a very logical way so far with development for the NFL as the priority. I listed the schools that have produced first round NFL QBs in the last 5 years elsewhere, but to summarize, these schools have produced 2: ND St, OU, Bama, Clemson, Ohio St. So there isn't a slam dunk place for him to go. He'll get 1-2m anywhere. Money isn't the issue here. Assuming he leaves Norman, I think ND, Ole Miss, or SC, in that order are the likely destinations. Todd Monken's been in the NFL and done miserably there. If he ends up in Georgia, it would indicate the family's priorities were not clearly stated.
  13. You did see OU had PAT FIELDS at safety the last 3 years. He's a great guy who should've been OU's feel-good walk on story special teams player. Instead, he's leaving OU as a 3 year starter to go pro in management/engineering at Stanford.
  14. Did you infer from my post that I thought Arch to OU was likely? I put it the middle of a series of statement where there is uncertainty WITH QUESTION MARKS BEHIND IT!!! Where did you get that NIL was the driver of Williams leaving? As has been mentioned elsewhere Rattler got 1m or more this season. Williams isn't a jerk like Rattler, has higher upside, and OU needs him for stability. I'm sure the money is there. Williams went to OU because Riley got Jalen Hurts to the Heisman ceremony and two other guys selected #1 in the draft. Riley's can't figure out how to beat soft zone coverage and is gone anyway. The actual focus of that post was the Williams was leaving, now confirmed. So I'll take my flowers.
  15. Whatever...who's policing this now? Oklahoma law enforcement, NCAA, FBI? I'm more bothered by "most elite offensive coordinators."
  16. I think JoeC's 65 and this guy's like 55.
  17. Wouldn't it be terrible if this frumpster is your daddy?
  18. Yes at Alabama and then Clemson. Interestingly, he ran for Alabama state senate as a Republican prior to getting deep into CFB. My Clemson friend knows him. He wants to be an athletic director.
  19. All great points. I think Turnipseed is part of the funding strategy too.
  20. 1. Makes sense for Williams to at least enter the portal to see what the market is. If there were an obvious landing spot, I'd guarantee he'd be gone. Having lived in both central Oklahoma and the DMV, there are very few similarities, and Williams will be paid wherever he goes. 2. Who knows what Gabriel's true status with UCLA is? Committed verbally, signed, signed plus enrolled. I'm sure it all matters, but there are levels to this, man. 3. If Williams leaves and OU keeps one of Mims or Mario Williams, I'd consider that a win. I think Mims can be a #1 WR for Lebby. Caleb was the reason Mario came to OU and the reason Jalil Farooq, another WR came to OU. They may both leave if Williams bolts.
  21. Your images never display for me. Please summarize.
  22. You survived Trevor Knight beating UT. Don't let this get you down.
  23. The other two should be good. Brandon Hall, who played at OU, coached with Venables (at OU) and was DC at Troy. Supposedly good. The other was a GA at Clemson, Miguel Chavis. He's a former Clemson DL. The one Clemson booster I know said Chavis was loved by the players and is brilliant. The hope is that Roof was brought in the be Venables vessel. Roof will be trusted to let the Venables aura and knowledge flow through him to allow Venables to still be the guiding light of the defense so Venables doesn't have to focus exclusively on the defense. Or some such. Or it could be nepotism. I got nothing to support Valai.
