  1. More importantly, he continues to restock the TE/HB room. OU loses Willis and Hall this year and Stogner in 2022. It wouldn't surprise me if OU takes another TE/HB in 2023 too. This is where losing Conyers (ASU) and Henderson (jail?) hurts.
  2. I do the same thing. If you include transfers, 2021 was the best OU class in a decade. Based on the balance of offense and defense, OU's 2022 class may end up better than that one.
  3. To emphasize how much of an OU lean Moore is, Los Alamitos is the high school that Nelson (OU QB commit) and Lemon (committing this weekend, probably to OU) are at.
  4. @UDontKnow @Schulz2.0 @Pdawg88 "OU's RB depth is thinning unexpectedly. This is the reason for Jamarion Miller's visit, yes?" Yes, thin depth chart at RB going into 2021 and possible NFL entrants after the season. "I can't remember who exactly, but one of these guys isn't a solid commit to the dirt burglars." Raleek Brown has a child so there is the hypothesis that he'll end up staying in SoCal because of this. Plus, he's not a traditional RB. Of course, OU's lost RB late recently so I thing they're appropriately concerned. "Sawchuk and Brown are solid to them. They also feel good about the Barnes kid out of Nevada." "Nah, Barnes isn’t coming." If you're betting on where Barnes will end up, take the field. I think that's what OU's doing. Smart for the Sooners to be sending out more offers at RB. They need at least two RB in the 2022 class with low numbers to start with and Gray and Brooks possibly going to the NFL. Brown's more of a RB/WR, and there's some uncertainty in whether he'll end up in Norman. Barnes was crystal balled to OU but the Sooners will be fighting USC and Clemson and others for him. If OU gets 2 high school RB, I think that's fine. They can get one more in the portal. OU's RB recruiting makes sense, unlike what's going on with the DL.
  5. Yeah, this doesn't really make sense unless OU feels really good about other top flight DL. Maybe Dindy has told them he's coming but doesn't want them to take other DEs (Dindy views himself as a DE). That may explain the take of Cedric Roberts last week and Quixotic pursuit of Hero from CA. Either that or they've just screwed it up (more likely).
  6. Isn't it as simple as OU doesn't feel confident with their other DL offers and/or they feel confident that they can turn Roberts into a contributor (Ellison and Kelley, eg)? They had a similar take in 2020, Coe.
  7. From the SEC's perspective, this is the Ft Sumter moment for the SEC vs the NCAA. The SEC had the money. Now with one fell swoop, it now has the brand power and erased one of the other four conferences. Two of the other conferences are teetering and may be forced into existential crises by this move also. This is also a good time to get UT because Horns football is relatively weak. If the SEC passes now, will UT be interested in five years after Sark wins 3 NCs ( i know 🤪)? The SEC now calls all the shots in college football. The SEC now has three of the top seven brands in the sport (Bama, UT, OU; others Ohio St, Michigan, ND, USC) and three other brands that are really strong recently (UF, LSU, UGa). Twelve of the 28 participants in the CFP will have come from the SEC + OU. Clemson and FSU both have grant of rights issues in the ACC, but they're both likely having discussion regarding their options moving forward. Would there be five SEC teams in a 12 team playoff every year? The SEC obviously has the biggest broadcast deals going forward and may have boxed the other conferences into competing for time on Fox only. Looking at the slate of games created by SEC + UT/OU, every week there could be TWO BIG GAMES EVERY WEEK. Using Bill Connelly's 3 fixed, 12 rotating schedule, just OU annual schedule has UT/Bama/UGa/A&M alternating with UT/LSU/UF/Auburn. There's enough high quality content that ESPN doesn't need to go after the ACC or PAC in order to put together a killer schedule. Without ESPN credibly competing for broadcasting rights, the PAC and ACC contracts may be relatively poor creating a death spiral for those conferences. Maybe.
  8. Apparently Nelson just doesn't want to play anymore. Surly Sleuths: The idiots who decided robbing a dope dealer at gun point in front of 25 people was a good plan go to court soon! Bridges court date is Jul 27 and the other 2 go to court Aug 10. Keep your magnifying glasses handy!
  9. Companies gain and lose contracts and affiliations all the time. The "free market" dictates the outcome, just as it has here. Baylor and TCU are private, religious, non-tax paying institutions whose football fortunes were recently derailed by scandal (one worse than the other). They should expect and receive nothing. If Tech tries to get in on the move to the SEC, should UTEP also? What about Texas St? People will still go to college at Tech and the other state-funded Texas schools, and they'll study and play football. If Tech somehow plays football well enough to become a dominant force and Lubbock is transformed into destination city, they'll get an invite next time around.
  10. The bellyaching is the surest sign that there's a real push by UT and OU to leave.
  11. It's a description of your behavior, not ad hominem. If anything, the ad hominem is the initial "punchable face" comment, which I didn't quibble with.
  12. You don't like it when I point out that OU quarterbacks are good? Is this news to you? Are you offended by facts?
  13. The worst is when they're at the Heisman Trophy ceremony. They all look awful there.
  14. How certain are you of this? Not saying you're wrong, and I know it's sophomore film, but his HUDL doesn't jump off the screen.
  15. From the 2014 to 2017 classes (the last class to have completed eligibility), OU's had 7 draft picks. OU is #5 by 247.com and #7 by si.com by NFL OL production. I don't think NFL success is how schools want to attack OU in OL recruiting.
  16. So maybe Biddle wanted to stay in DFW. Still a strange recruitment. Don't know if this is a huge loss for OU with Austin Jordan, Gentry Williams on the board + plus the 2 guys they got over the weekend (I view Rowe as a N or LB). They need to get Williams and probably another CB unless they view Brice or Spears-Jennings as a CB. Agree that the churn isn't ideal for numbers plus development. That said, OU historically has a ~ 50% churn rate (only about 50% of freshman end up on the roster as seniors). Of the guys OU's lost at RB/WR, Jaylon Robinson at UCF is the only one who's done anything.
  17. Biddle and OU seemed to cool in the late spring. Biddle apparently didn't get an invite to the Sooners BBQ in June. It's weird that none of the regional recruiting powers (UT, A&M, OU) or even second tier schools (TCU, Ok St, Baylor, Arkansas) really made a play for Biddle. I asked about it in the UT thread before that thread became about Oregon and NFTs. Over the weekend, OU got commits from 2 WR who they're going to convert to safeties, Brice and Spears-Jennings. The Sooners seem confident they can create a defensive backfield by coaching up guys who are big (for the position) and can run.
  18. Agree. Injuries could be an issue. They don't have a "big back," which could be an issue in short yardage. Major and Brooks are 220 lb, but don't really look run big.
  19. This had been known for at least several days. If he was involved in the gun play, one would assume he'd be gone like Bridges/McGowan. Regardless, I'll assume he's out. Here's a recap of significant unexpected losses for the Sooners this offseason. RB/HB Henderson (likely gone), crime -- unique talent who could legit run, catch, block. Would have been OU's only "big" RB. WR Bridges, crime -- even though he hadn't produced, he had high upside and played a position where depth is a concern Flex TE Conyers, portal -- even though he hadn't produced, he had high upside and played a position where depth is a concern OT Wilkins, portal -- even though he hadn't produced, he had high upside and played a where they need high-end talent DL Thomas, DWI -- still on team Other players who have left likely wouldn't have been major contributors (Rambo, McGowan, et al).
