  1. Pretty sure this visit was known. OU's going to have to keep recruiting him and Raleek and Sawchuk and...this is what happens when you get early commits from top players who also have interest from $EC schools. 2020 was the worst year for this. OU's final class had only 2 top 100 players. That year the following players signed elsewhere (school, 247 composite rank): Alabama 22, 47 Oregon 31 A&M 162 Ohio St 202 Just so we're up to speed, OU commit Rowe (DB) just got an LSU offer. Rowe's an Oklahoma kid who's family supposedly loves OU. That said, there's the allure of playing DB for the Tigers and possibly getting a (?bigger) bag.
  2. Nik Bonitto may disagree with you
  3. Who said anything about "promises"? Why invoke the portal even? They're trying to bring in 3 backs in 2022 (Sawchuk, Barnes, Brown would be ideal), but none of them are very big and having a big back to block and short yardage is valuable.
  4. If Major leaves because of depth chart concerns now, it would be a poor decision. OU's had to have FB play RB because of injuries in consecutive years, so depth has been an issue for a while. Furthermore, as I showed, Major, if he doesn't get carries this year, may still ascend because OU may lose Brooks and Gray to the league next year. Also, Major is one of only 2 "big" back for OU this year so he's a scarce resource in this regard. Not saying Major will stay, just saying there are rational reasons for him to stay.
  5. Maybe, but who'd leave? These are the only scholarship RB: Henderson -- HB/RB flex Major Brooks - likely NFL Gray - new, likely NFL Bradford - new Depth is a possible concern at RB this year. This is why OU's likely taking 3 RB in 2021 class.
  6. @Divided Windows 's take is correct as far as I know. The fact that there's one in a decade, maybe, is the point.
  7. I agree. Austin is a better town than Norman, and I've never been to Stillwater. Never wanted to either. That's the point. Why would either of those recruits want to go to Stillwater? I agree. UT's got a better reputation, in general, than OU or OSU. That's the point. Why would either of those recruits want to go to OSU over UT?
  8. The distinction is between the recruiting success of OU, UT, and OSU. OU and UT are bluebloods that historically recruit at top 10-15 level. OSU never has. Some recruits don't look only at on the field success when picking a school. Some pick a school based on location (SoCal, eg) or academics (Stanford, eg). That's why I brought up location and academic reputation.
  9. Do you guys believe this is real? I don't. What does Oklahoma State, a tier 2 academic school, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, which lands recruiting classes in the 30s generally, share with UT other than orange as a base color? When was the last time Ok St got a kid UT or OU really wanted? Xavier Lawson-Kennedy, Bobby Reid, Richetti Jones? There are circumstances that may shed light on OU falling out on these recruitments. OU alienated Thompson by slow playing him, and then there may have been an effect of Jalen Conyers portaling to Arizona State (which may hurt in the future--maybe this year if injuries). Sexton is more confusing because it looked like OU really made him a priority. But about once every 5 years, an Oklahoma kid gets recruited by UT and wants to go there. Sexton may be that kid this year. Historically, UT doesn't lose recruitments to Oklahoma State, just like OU doesn't usually have to worry about the Pokes on the recruiting trail. If it's down to different shades of orange, UT should win out.
  10. From my end, this is all conjecture. The Nebraska game, because of the 11AM start, is now less attractive. Only local/regional players will be able to make it comfortably for the game. Kids coming from the East or West Coast players who play on Friday night will have to take a red eye to Dallas and catch a connector to OKC in the morning. What a whip.
  11. Hmmm...strategy to delay visits until the season may be to try to blunt the momentum from new coach-UT by having visits after another Sooner victory in Dallas. I wonder if their trying to push visits until a possible top 10 match up on Nov 20 in Norman vs Iowa St. Just a hypothesis.
  12. I don't need to do research. I saw him play live, and have always admired the way he played. Spinal stenosis is what I've read he has. It isn't usually congenital, and it's very unlikely that it is in his case. Even if had some congenital predilection for spinal stenosis, repeated trauma over years is CERTAIN to have accelerated and worsen the deterioration.
  13. 66 years old and in a motorized wheelchair is "pretty good"? I like watching football, but seeing the damage it inflicts on people is one of the major reasons I reconsider it.
  14. Need a shrug/teardrop emoji. Worse news for OU was that Swenson (not high-upside options like Morris or Wilkins) was running with first team in the spring.
  15. Never appreciated the self-importance of those dudes. Preferred Geno's. Boys a Lee's would put real cheddar, fried onions, and jalapenos on mine bc I was a Tuesday regular. I resemble that remark.
  16. There is someone enrolled at OU named Kevontre Bradford. I can't find an official announcement.
  17. So we're all on the same page, I agree that being in college shouldn't preclude compensation for playing sports. Seems, based on your prior posts, we also agree that Dindy's dad taking this job would be "shady" or something like that. Also, in full disclosure, I haven't been in a church is > 20 years. I think lying is still what they call a "sin" and sins are frowned upon. If Dindy's dad does this and if the family claims that it's just their good fortune that the dad is installed as the head of a new church concurrent with the recruitment of their son to a school that happens to be in the same town or funded by boosters of the school, this is evidence of either (a) lying or (b) delusion. Lying would against the basic tenets of most religions so I think that's hypocritical. So I agree with you, it could be that the Dindys are delusional.
  18. Thank you for letting me know about Clemson. That said, things can be comically ridiculous and common.
  19. Lots of prejudgment here, some deserved, some not. The Aggies have their own history to blame for anyone thinking that they would attempt such a comically ridiculous plan. But we don't know if the Dindy's are money-grabbing hypocrites. Some people will prejudge them based on this rumor and that's unfortunate.
  20. I saw that too. Obviously, competing with “Texas School of Preaching” (I think that's what it's called) is going to be...tough (ridiculous is the word I really want to use).
  21. OU is all in on Malachi Nelson from California. He's announcing on Jul 18.
