  1. For a business, I'd recommend Meraki. There's nothing inherently wrong with Unifi stuff, until there is something wrong. Their support, at least it used to be, was sorta there. Meraki will cost more, plus you have the yearly licensing fee for each Meraki device, but only you can justify how important support + next day replacement for your Meraki gear (which comes with the license) is worth to you. As for your internet connection, with that many users, 1GB is plenty, but you need something more robust than Spectrum cable. Also, invest in a spectrum analysis for access point placement, number of AP's needed for your environment, etc.
  2. This. It will be a real-life Apprentice series with Cruz, etc all trekking to Mar-A-Lago and seeing who can kiss Trump's ass the best to get the nod. There will be contests, "teams", "challenges", and the like. Trump will have his scientists working on how to best monetize the process.
  3. He lost in '20, led an insurrection in an attempt to stay in office, was impeached twice, and has 34 felony counts on him at the moment, and yet, here we are. The GOP was fully consumed by the Trump Organization. And you think the GOP is gonna allow Haley to have the nomination in '28?
  4. When we purchased our house 12 years ago, there was almost a full section of pasture behind our house---surrounded by town. Farmer had it, ran a few hundred head of cattle. Then he passed, and his kids sold the ground to developers. Around 2020, they started clearing the land and doing all the excavation work for streets, utilities, etc. I watched the guys with the boring rigs do what you described. Dig a hole about 4 foot deep, run the boring machine in that hole, and have it come up around 100 feet away. Then repeat the process. They ran 4 inch or so conduit in the ground, then pulled copper through that, then stuck a transformer (or whatever that is) where they had each hole. Then as the ground was being prepared for a slab, another contractor would dig a trench from the transformer to where the power was going to enter the house. Same technique that ATT and the cable company was doing, just with larger conduit, and deeper trenching. The contractor doing the water/sewer/storm drains for the city took a helluva lot longer, due to having to trench everything.
  5. Trump says he would revoke the temporary protective status of Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio. Bradley: So you would revoke the temporary protected status? Trump: Absolutely. I'd revoke it, and I'd bring them back to their country.
  6. An interesting note from the new Jack Smith filing: He argues that FBI experts have mapped out what Donald Trump was doing on his phone during the Capitol Riot and that, at trial, a forensic examiner could testify about logs that show Trump “was using his phone, and in particular, was using the Twitter application, consistently throughout the day after he returned from the Ellipse speech.”
  7. Based solely on this information, I'm just gonna assume that he has a custom-made Cyberchess set and shows it off.
  8. At this point, you have to wonder if RFK has one of the strongest games on the planet. There's no other explanation.

  10. A Programming Note: 60 Minutes is scheduled to air a primetime election special on a Monday edition of the broadcast on October 7 at 8 PM. For over half a century, 60 Minutes has invited the Democratic and Republican tickets to appear on our broadcast as Americans head to the polls. This year, both the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to sit down with 60 Minutes. Vice President Harris will speak with correspondent Bill Whitaker. After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s campaign has decided not to participate. Pelley will address this Monday evening. Our election special will broadcast the Harris interview on Monday as planned. Our original invitation to former President Donald Trump to be interviewed on 60 Minutes stands.

  12. RE: the quartz mine; here's a Wired article from 2018 about this place and the importance it has worldwide. Also, it produces the sand in the bunkers at Augusta National. Long article, and there's some pics that are interesting. https://www.wired.com/story/book-excerpt-science-of-ultra-pure-silicon/
  13. Most all of us here mock Tesla for one reason or another, but this isn't a Tesla issue---it's a saltwater/EV issue: https://jalopnik.com/here-s-why-saltwater-can-cause-evs-to-burst-into-flames-1851661140
  14. TL; DR. Spruce Pine, North Carolina is the world's leading source of high-purity quartz for semiconductors, and it's been horribly impacted by hurricane Helene. https://jalopnik.com/hurricane-helenes-devastation-of-a-small-town-in-north-1851660775
