  5. On the subject of signs; spotted not far from my house yesterday on a road littered with Trump signs, flags, etc:
  6. Couple of Christmas's ago, my late father's best friend was invited over to my mom's home; it was his first Christmas after his wife had passed as well, and we have known him for decades---he and his wife were close to mom and dad, and his kids/grandkids had moved off, he was by himself, and there was no reason not to invite him over. We knew he was a Trumper, but put that aside---known him for decades, and it was good to see him, no reason for him to be alone during the Holiday, etc. After about an hour or so, he and I were talking and started in on the cat litterboxes in schools, and heard that "all the schools have them". So, I took the bait. I asked him where he had heard that from, and he tells me that some guy's daughter saw them in his granddaughters school, that sort of thing. He was convinced that it was federal law requiring litterboxes for kids to piss and shit in. Said it was all over the news, too. I just kinda let some silence hang in the air, and asked him about his daughter....who is a public school nurse; had she ever seen those in the school she works in? He said that no, they were not in her school, but that was because the superintendent of that school district told the federal government to get fucked. We didn't talk much more that evening.
  7. This evening, the kids and I went to a local greasy spoon for dinner. The booth behind me had a couple, probably mid-60's, who were finishing up. They were talking about the debate as if it was a football game that was upcoming; they were excited. Within about 10 seconds I figured out they were Team GOP. The husband was asking the wife questions about format, network, etc. The wife was using her phone and looking up basic information about the debate, and then when she told him it was 90 minutes long, he said that was bad news for her---she couldn't debate for that long. Plus, the network was so biased that she obviously already had all the questions and whatnot. The wife came back with each person would get 2 minutes, then 2 minutes for a rebuttal, then a minute for a follow up if needed. Husband said Trump wouldn't need the full 2 minutes, because he gets straight to the point and could answer any question in 30 seconds or less, and his answers would be so great Harris couldn't reply.
