Hmm. About Noem's statement of "Trump upgrading the technology in the National Weather Service". I assure you he isn't, and there are no plans to do so. Edit to add: this is the way to blame Biden without blaming him by name.- ICE activity/raids
Cost? Probably equivalent to feeding a couple of thousand poverty stricken children's public school lunches, but the price was worth it.- Trump’s America

The convenience store in my home town had one of these for almost a year or so. One day, a few of us were there playing and we noticed there was a sizable gap between the siderails and the glass, especially at the top left of the playfield. Hmm. So, we brought in a wire coat hanger and discovered that if we manipulated it just right, one of us could play a game and catch and hold the ball with a flipper, the other could knock down all of the drop targets in the upper left lane that held the captive ball with the coat hanger, bumping up the score and triggering a special, then doing it over and over. I have no idea how many credits were taken in that manner. It was a sad day when we found out that table was taken away.- Gonna nab some quarters from my change bucket, ride my bike up to the mall....
Oh, and for those of you feeling some nostalgia, you need to read up on MAME. It can be a bit daunting to setup, but it might be worth your time. You can have every game you could ever want on your PC or Mac- Gonna nab some quarters from my change bucket, ride my bike up to the mall....
Last weekend, I had to take the girl child to the mall. We went to the food court, and she said they had opened a new arcade. I glance over, and it's full of redemption machines and whatnot. Looks pretty boring. She wants to go over, so we stroll in, and I'm just underwhelmed. This isn't an arcade, by God. Foghat isn't playing cranked, there's no sketchy guys off in a corner, and no one has quarters lined up on the marquee of a game. Until I spot in a corner an Asteroids, Dig Dug, Robotron 2084 and some fighting game that I had no interest in.. Oh boy, now I found something. The games don't take quarters, only a prepaid card you tap. She wants to "win" something so I buy her a $10 card, then buy myself one as well. The games I was interested in only used a dime credit per play. My goodness; 10 plays of Asteroids for a buck? The mind reels. After what was probably less than 5 minutes, she came back. She had burned through her card trying to win something stupid, no doubt. I'm still on my first game of Asteroids. She says something like "you are pretty good at this". Well, I once was, but no one else is playing this fossil, so I'm going to quit with the high score. I play some Dig Dug and Robotron, and she was mesmerized with how many moving characters were on the screen at one time. I scored something like 78,000, but man, my 57 year old reflexes aren't what they once were. After the game was over, I spent the rest of my credits on air hockey with her. To be honest, that was more fun.- Trump’s America

I remember when the DOJ was going to prosecute to the fullest extent possible anyone who vandalized a Tesla or Tesla location. Even invoking domestic terrorism. Now, I'm pretty sure that Trump himself will encourage MAGA to go firebomb the buildings, with full pardons if needed.- Las Vegas go hard or go home thread
6 pm. Caesars used to have a night swim that was a paid feature ($20 a person, maybe?) that we did back in 2022. It was nothing to write home about, honestly. The three highlights were, in no particular order: -The cocktail waitress looking at my ID, seeing "none" for corrective lenses, and asking loudly "are you from None?" -The couple that with 97% certainity were fucking in the pool just down from us -Caesars evacuating the pool and the casino floor because of the "shooting" that happened at MGM and caused widespread panic at all the resorts moving north. We spent around an hour in Caesars basement, in swimwear, along with a variety of other resort visitors. Fun times.- The destruction of America's public education system
