  1. Hold on- did you just brag about making a $200 donation?
  2. I’d say wow and the kid probably just made an insanely dumb decision. Thats fascinating.
  3. This should have been as quick an overturn as CB Buckner.
  4. Fucking 6 Of 7 innings lead off guy on. Throw strikes asshole.
  5. If this holds here Bregman is your player of the game with 2 knocks and awesome defense.
  6. Framber has a rabbits foot up his ass today. Two rockets from the same guy right at Bregman.
  7. Yainer needs to forget to catch a mask high fastball.
  8. Completely and totally shut the astros down in the second and 3rd inning. He’s singlehandedly (well and Framber) keeping them in the game. I can’t believe anyone is against robot umps.
  9. He is doubling down on his bullshit.
  10. That was the worst fucking AB I have ever seen an umpire have with Yordan there. And then that cocksucker has the nerve to get out from behind home plate and shout at the astros dugout? if Espada wasn’t a gigantic pussy he’d be done for the day. I’d have started a blood fund to last the rest of my life with that jackass home plate ump.
  11. You can’t expect much more than a split when you go up to Canada I suppose.
  12. I never said he is an all star. I said you eat paint chips when you say he’s a non roster candidate and at best 5th Of. I’m completely and totally happy with my analysis of Jake as an above average CF in MLB, a valuable OF and a guy you’d ideally like hitting 8th or 9th with Peña (also an average bat at a premium defensive position) hitting in the other spot. League average offensively (which Jake is for his career however you want to torture or twist which numbers we should count and which we shouldn’t) with premium defense at a defense first position (he leads the AL and is 3rd in the majors for outs above average in the OF- even with his girly arm) is a valuable player. Is it theoretically possible to upgrade? Sure. But you’d do better to first look to upgrade 1B, then LF, then starting pitcher, then bullpen before you even get to the point where you consider trying to get better than Jake on this roster. as to runthebone- you are a board treasure and I celebrate your entire catalogue. Happy 4th brother
  13. Seems like the fans did a pretty good job this year- nothing to really get super upset about.
  14. Nice catch, getting on base and rbi don’t count. also- ignore the fact that he almost singlehandedly won us the game scoring 4 times on Saturday. Also doesn’t count. we could net it down to fWar or bWar or something crazy like that and say he’s something like the 50th best OF in baseball or something like that- or look at a 730 ops, but it’s a lot easier to say he’s maybe a 5th OF at best.
  15. That’s the 5th ball that backed an OF up against the fence or hit off the top of the wall this series. this team needs more steroids/better dealer.
  16. Absolutely. It’s an enticing skill set but usually fools gold. He cannot succeed as a big leaguer with a k rate that starts with a 3 and he’s probably not powerful enough to actually be a plus player with a rate over 25% or so.
  17. He’s not reliable yet. He just needs to keep the non competitive shit to no more than once every 4 or 5 times out.
  18. Dubon. Because yeah. And I’d have let Salazar hit for himself if Dubon got the guy over to third with one out.
  19. So fucking close for Peña and then we just have 2 non competitive AB’s. All Joey needed to do was roll over on it. Nope.
  20. He didn't actually have surgery though- he was trying to pitch through it with rest and rehab- right? Guys that have actually had the survey come back and are basically their normal selves like 90% of the time. We should be ok (knock on wood- take it with a huge grain of sand).
  21. Nah. It might lack superstar players but it's going to be an assembly line of competent major league position players and pitchers that are regular starters. That's valuable on club control. Allows you to pay your superstars if you extend them at the right time. I guess if you just want to talk about high end potential star then you can say it's trash. But, with the development team and the pitchers I'm not going to say it isn't possible that they won't turn someone into a star. The system has been considered "trash" for the last 3 years and it's given you: Chas, Jake, Pena, Diaz, Salazar, Loperfido, Garcia, Brown, Arrighetti, France (huge last year), Blanco- Diaz was a trade but I'd give us the lions share of development- he came over as an A ball dude so I'm going to say he counts in the same way Yordan counts as home grown and developed. That group collectively makes about 10M and that's going to produce something like 20 War this year. Guys I think can do similar coming up out of this system that's considered trash: Dezenzo, Whitcomb, Wagner, Leon, Melton, Mathews (I bet you have 3 MLB regulars out of that group and I bet you have 2 fringe guys- who knows which is which) PItching- Ullola- potential ace- potential bust- I like him and I'm betting on him and our development staff. Bloss, Blubaugh, Tredwell, Kouba, Gordon- those guys will see time at the big league level and so will some pitchers you've never heard of in our system. I think Baez has star level talent- I'm dreaming on him- but he could also never make it to the bigs. The Astros system is very good at developing guys to contribute at the big league level. Dana Brown is a swing big type so I assume he's going to be looking at trying to find some top end talent that's special but more likley to bust. I also really like the kid from Houston Ochoa in the 11th round. He's hitting bombs at A ball as an 18 year old and he throws 95 MPH on the mound so you know he's got the arm that drives everyone around here nuts about Jake and Chas. That's a guy you should be happy every time you add one like him to the system as if you do that every year you only need 1 if 5 of 6 to really hit and you are in good shape.
  22. That's a lot and I would probably do it- but I'd try really hard to keep Ullola out of the package. Melton, Matthews Blubah and Tredwell if Toronto takes back Montero and Graveman and kicks in $10M for next year. If they aren't going to send back any money or take any bad contracts I think it's: Pick whatever position player you want in the minors and pick whatever pitcher you want in the minors as my top offer.
