  1. His second inning numbers kind of suck dick too.
  2. Glad we are going to a 6 man rotation so we can get Brown and Arrighetti out there every third day.
  3. So- 4 competent pitchers in a row and we go 3-1. So- awesome idea with the 6 man rotation- have to make sure we get non competitive starts 1 out of every 3 days. It’s not like we are 10 games under or anything.
  4. I mean- I’m pleased we got him if for no reason other than it caused us to get rid of Julks.
  5. And yet- gave up the booty a couple times in the worst possible time.
  6. The biggest driver is the luck can't stay bad forever and we are quickly approaching the time where we can have 1 Arrighetti or Brown start every other week if we don't act like pussies and just go to a 4 man rotation every time there is an off day. This team would be just fine if the clown squad only started 1 game every other week in total. Once Javier and Urquidy are back we don't have to start them ever again. Garcia and LMJ are both throwing off mound. Urquidy going to be in Corpus so 3putt can go see him down there and report back- get some luck and get rid of the horrific pitching that doesn't give you a chance and that's most of the battle. Mix in a couple series against teams under 500 (all but 5 games have been against teams over 500- and no- that's not b/c they've all beaten up on the Astros- even taking our series with them out of their record that would still be true), stop being on pace to be the worst team by 100 runs not scored with a 110 wrc+ in 3 decades (that's mostly dumb ass shit luck) and this team is above average. If the back end of the bullpen can start pitching like the back of their baseball cards again this team fucks. That's a lot of if's I guess but none of them are improbable. 1) Schedule will get easier- 100% 2) Enough pitchers getting healthy where we have few starts by scrubs- 85% 3) Better luck/runs scored matching how well we hit overall- 80% (if it's luck- slight chance that our guys- who have been to 7 LCS+ in a row are actually closet chokers but I'd bet no) 4) Back end of the bullpen being shut down like we thought- 50% That's it- that's the recipe. Might be too late. But that's the case for optimism.
  7. @Hank Chinaskiwouldn't shut up about the Lee trade last year. Maybe he's not as dumb as he looks. Also- amazeballs to see Maldy continue to be the worst player in baseball and get way more time than he deserves blocking a younger and much better player. Of course- it's the worst organization in baseball and maybe the second dumbesst (I think Colorado is likely the dumbest) so it doesn't exactly scream good things about us that we did the same last year.
  8. Ok- I want everyone to ponder what happened in the third. It’s like a fucking baseball riddle that’s almost impossible to do. a team gets a double, two singles, no Tootblans and no double plays and manages to score 0 runs- how does that happen? if you can correctly answer that you move on to question 2 which the astros did earlier this year- a team ended an inning with only 2 plate appearances in the top half of an inning- how does that happen?
  9. Meyers really must have fucked Espada's wife for something. Motherfucker can't start 3 games in a row even with success and hitting the ball hard.
  10. I got the same thing the other day. They sent me their bank statement with $4.5M in it. I told them to fuck off. Literally. Scumbags.
  11. Now do infield popups smart guy. Huh? He leads the world in those!
  12. I try not to read this thread very much. They are literally too stupid to interact with or give any thought to. That's not some sort of rivalry smack or anything like that. Hell, we eat our own around here and are harder on ourselves than maybe any other fanbase is on themselves. They just fundamentally aren't tethered to reality and are incapable of logical or consistent thought. It's pretty terrible to witness.
  13. I said at the time I’d like to have gone outside the organization for someone from another smart org for cross pollination or a different viewpoint/ or hired a guy that had proven they could handle a championship team. We did neither. we used to be on the cutting edge in looking for little edges. I don’t know that we are innovative anymore. we’ve also been incredibly unlucky(injuries and field of play) and to top it all off we’ve played exactly 5 games against teams with records under 500, and we are 4-1 in those games. just a perfect storm of shit but man, doesn’t feel like we will ever be able to recover this year.
  14. When Charlie strong was hired by UT Scipio wrote a preview book and he had like a choose your own adventure where he wrote “the optimists case for Charlie strong, the pessimists case for Charlie strong and Charlie strong middle ground or some such”. When we did our pod after Espada was hired that was kind of how we handled it- I sort of bitched a little and said- eh- who knows. Didn’t like it. Figured it would be better than Dusty and you couldn’t fuck this team up. I’m not saying it’s his fault, but he’s pretty clearly not the guy either.
  15. Agreed. That was my point in saying that- they will think they are getting the wrecking crew in reality they will get basic competence on that side of the ball, probably nothing special on the other side of the ball and finish in the middle of the conference, same as it ever was. they will probably be boring though- missing even the train wreck component of that hayseed Smurf they just gave 75M to fuck off.
  16. My suspicion is that they will be competent on defense.
  17. There’s a decent chance Loperfido will never be a good hitter at the mlb level and a better chance he won’t be right now. I’m fine with waiting for him to get everyday AB’s after we throw in the towel in 3 weeks and go to next year mode after Memorial Day.
  18. They were pretty decent on defense relative to their talent level under him, right? Not great but ok.
  19. I have no problem with caratini. I liked the signing and I liked what I’ve seen from him so far. There’s absolutely nothing in the numbers that suggest Diaz shouldn’t ever be allowed to catch JV or Framber. Fuck em they don’t get to pitch like shit and dictate who they pitch to.
  20. I hate to hear that as your experience. I love my job. I love almost all my clients. I like helping them. My referral partners are pretty good people for the most part. This stuff was not how things usually go down and really not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things but it wasn't the greatest 1/2 punch ever. It was 1.2M in volume all told. Win some/lose some but yeah- what your describing sucks- have you thought about why that's happening? Are you working with referral partners that are assholes? Desperate people can suck for sure. Lots of people have left the business- you seem like a guy that should not leave the business with the success you've had during some pretty hard times.
  21. Terrance Brooks really chose poorly on this one- huh?
  22. New episode of breathing orange fire. We talk about the last week and the next 3 to come.
  23. Those are the underlying things I was talking about. Yordans expected slug is like 200 points higher than his actual slug.
  24. I guess. I don’t mean that we are friends or anything in that sense of the word, but yeah, you are completely right for some. it’s a great gig and I’ve actually formed real relationships with some of my borrowers and a bunch of advisor client relationships.
