  2. I'm glad to hear that. I went to see The Record Company at the Fillmore a few years ago came a away pretty disappointed vs what I'd heard recorded.

  4. It's looking more and more like be around when they come through here in October and I already have a few friends w tickets based on the headliner. Hoping to catch that.
  5. Speaking of old punk bands, I have a friend in the band Get Dead and they are on the bill for the NOFX final tour that kicks off today in San Diego. That would be fun as hell. He's sponsored by Orange and has offered me use of his artist discount and I've considered taking him up on it for a Rockerverb 50 head, but now I'm thinking about taking him up on it to upgrade my bass rig.
  6. That Ric gets more love than I do. People always come up to me about it. I still feel a little guilty dumping the P-Bass for it though.
  7. Rather it's true or wishful thinking, I've come away from most The Koffs shows thinking that we were the best band of the evening. Maybe it's the kiddie pool we've been paying in, cause D.I. absolutely crushed it and showed us how far we need to go last night. Way next level good. The band before them, some guys from out near Yosemite called False Freedom, were pretty solid too. It's quite possible that we were the 3rd best of 4 bands - which would say that they got the lineup right when they put us on 2nd. Still, Casey Royer of D.I. told the venue owner that he really liked our set and that we "are onto something". Super nice guy when we were talking to him after the show.

  9. I have a book all about this kind of thing that was given to me a whike back, but i'm yet to read it. Called "the Strat in the Attic" https://www.amazon.com/Strat-Attic-Thrilling-Stories-Archaeology/dp/0760343853?ref=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=f0c8e403-ee09-4027-bcd8-21c94f86b56b

  11. That's fucking awesome, hulla. Thanks for sharing. Rest of you should watch that clip, especially those of you who do recording.

  14. Question for @Celery Man , @Chad Fuck , and anybody else who plays both guitar and bass. I can play guitar fingerstyle to a degree, but it's much easier / more natural strumming w a pick. Conversly, I can play bass w a pick, but it's much easier / more natural with my fingers. Is that anybody else's experience? I wonder why that is, maybe because that's how I 1st learned both instruments and because I have fairly big hands.
  15. Thanks @DougO . You just saved me about $25. I usually buy that exact set as a 10 pack and just used the last set in the box to restring my Telecaster and had the box on my coffee table as a reminder to order more.
  16. I don't know to be proud or ashamed that I evidently had never heard the CD version of Runnin' Down A Dream, but hearing his little message to the CD listeners at 4:26 of this version makes me really Miss Tom Petty all over again. Dude was cooler than cool. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=8MUg8mpnhvQ&feature=share

  18. I'll have to check out that Sans Amp driver. I picked this up when I was looking for a compressor a while back, and have since noticed a lot of bass players using them. I run into an amp when we play, but at home I don't even keep an amp - I run it straight into the PA. Its got footswitchable Preamp, Fuzz, Compressor, and Octave.

  23. Funny. We are opening a show for D.I. next Friday.
  24. Personally, I think this would be difficult. I know personally, I have a sound Im after that I can dial in pretty close regardless of the guitar or amp I am playing through. There's old story about all the Les Pauls Jimmy Page sold with a Telecaster, probably not many more than Pete Townsend sold with a Gretsch. There are obvious cases like Mark Knopfler's Strat, but Im sure that Mark get get close enough to that sound to fool most with just about any guitar in his hand.
