  1. Wordle 435 2/6* [emoji834]🟩🟩[emoji834]🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Its been a while since I had it in 2.
  2. Vary Mary crushed it last night. We packed a venue that you have to play if you're gonna call yourself a San Francisco band. Everybody loves the orange Gretsch and how it sounds. Several musicians in bands I admire in attendance. I was literally thanked for not drowning the Gretsch out with gain "like everybody else does". Plus we sold some records. Our singer killed it, and I see no way I ever play another show with him. Its a fucking shame.
  3. BTW, I can't tell you what a tickle i get everytime I stomp on that Shaggy Screamer - especially on a stage. It gives me an equal kick when I see some of you guys post your rigs and I see it there. That was one of the most rewarding project I've ever completed. Edit - and while I'm sitting here killing some down time. I dreamt last night that I got a Rickenbacker bass as a backup, but ended up liking it more than my P-Bass. Now I'm going to go play some Rickenbasses. That may have been a premonition.
  4. I re-imagined my pedal board in anticipation of our show tonight. Everything on the bottom i switch off and on during songs, by spacing them out it'll take less concentration to avoid accidently hitting 2. I use nothing on the top with Vary Mary or Dirty Years, but I can run them inline or place the modulation effects in the loop when I do. I can also give the Reverb and Delay to a vocalist when needed. Tonight I'm running the Orange Gretsch into a EVH 5150 iii that I've been practicing with all week. Great amp. The 5150 iii is a contender for my new head, but I'm able to dial in all the gain I need to get my sound from Channel 1. Channels 2 and 3 are a lot of fun, but I dont know that I'd ever need them unless I start a metal band. Actually, I have some material written for a future project that could use Channel 2. [emoji848] I want to spend time with a JCM800 and an Orange Rockerverb 50. I think these are the 3 im down to. Before After

  8. Today our record released to to all the platforms. Pretty exciting to wake up this morning, search "Vary Mary" on my platform, and there it is!
  9. There's venue down the road from me that often keeps me up too late on work nights because they put on awesome shows all the time. Usually a touring band and a couple local bands in support, with the money at the door going to the touring band. I always think this must be what it was like living near CBGB in the late 70's. I have a feeling I'll be walking down the hill to see your daughter's band in the not too distant future. I do know the band name, and my lips are sealed! We did have an awesome band from San Antonio a few months ago, Pinko.

  11. I got Fred Gretsch (IV?), Tom Jones (of TV Jones), and Joe Carducci (now retired product marketing manager for Gretsch at Fender) to sign it at NAMM not long after I bought it. Gretsch is independent as a manufacturer as I understand it, but Fender handles all their marketing and distribution. Something like that. Or did, its been a while since I paid attention. Joe was at Fender for decades and is one the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I had a few conversations with him at NAMM over the years when I used to go. https://www.gretsch.com/guitarist/joe-carducci/
  12. I just got this one out for the 1st time in a while to put on fresh strings, but evidently i did that the last time she was out. This is a great sounding guitar. Just howls and feedback is always at the ready. Only issue is that it can be hard to hit clean bends above the 12th fret. You can do it, but you better be paying attention.
  13. I just had a 10 pack arrive yesterday, now have a 12 pack on the way. I won't need strings for a while.

  15. Nice rally after an aweful start this morning. Wordle 430 4/6* [emoji834][emoji834][emoji834][emoji834]🟨 [emoji834][emoji834]🟨[emoji834][emoji834] 🟩🟩[emoji834]🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  16. Psychofest was insane. Whole casino taken over by metal heads. The swimming pools were taken over in all black, denim, long hair and tattoos everywhere, along with hot metal chicks. I had no idea there were so many hot metal chicks. So many great bands, so many cool stages. Mercyful Fate was incredible. One of the best shows I've seen.

  18. Just watched another bass amp die. Smaller stage and crew wasn't as fast. Small delay then got it going for a couple songs, then it died again for good. Great band, handled it well.
  19. I didnt know what to expect going into or Psycho set. I figured it would either be a room full of metalheads hungry for the weekend, or an empty room as people rested up in anticipation. What we got was somewhere in between. They didn't open the room we played until 6, which is exactly when we went on. So we opened to a fairly empty room, but it slowly filled during our set. People without tickets stood outside the entrance and watched from the casino floor. All in all I think we did what we were invited to come here and do, warm up a stage, and I think we'll be invited back. That room never got more full than we had it that evening until Cancer Christ closed it. Cancer Christ is an incredible act btw. Several people have approached me and said they liked our set, our Facebook page grew a lot this weekend, and I'm told we sold some merch - I have no idea how much. Otherwise, the Psycho promoters have treated us extremely well and I'm so spoiled i dont know if I can ever go to another festival without an Artist pass. Everywhere there's a line there's also an Artist entrance without one, including metal detectors and bathrooms. Every crowded stage has an Artist / VIP area you can view from - most even have seating. People see the artist pass and come ask about your band, including what i assume to be groupies. Also, some of the best bands have been on the smaller stages and some of the headliners have disappointed (I'm looking at you Suicidal Tendancies!). One of the best acts I saw was Mothership from Louisiana (I believe), that dude on spakle V is super talented and even more entertaining. 100% Rock and Roll. We've partied pretty hard since Thursday. Today I'm just resting up in the room to get ready for Mercyful Fate tonight and back to the real world tomorrow. /csb

  21. The guy in the band playing after us on Saturday plays through 6l50. Super nice guy and absolutely sick guitar player. I just asked him if I can play through his this weekend. Save me from lugging and amp down, plus I'll get to try one out in a live setting. I didnt catch what that Marshal was other than dead.
  22. Saw another amp give up the ghost on the same stage yesterday. This time an SVT classic during a killer Moorhead cover set mid-song. "Lemmy" kept going like a pro and road crew had it replaced by the end of the song. Guitar was through a EVH 5150, evertime I hear one im impressed.

  24. Aquilars are great sounding and expensive. I have a Fender Rumble 500 thats a workhorse. In The Koffs practice space we have a Peavey TNT that I think I prefer to the Fender. I played through a SVT Classic last night and think I prefer the Peavey, but then I probably didn't know what I was doing dialing it in. Speaking of last night, it started raining while Emperor was playing poolside at Psycho Swim. They said fuck it a left the stage just as were were showing up. It their absence we got to see this Marshall Stack go up in smoke. Im no scientist, but I'm guessing you should try to keep these things dry in adverse weather.
  25. I think we went over as well as can be expected for an opening act. The following bands were great and we're here for 3 more nights of this shit.
