  7. Cliche yes, but come to San Francisco. I'm a cis, hetero, male. A large percentage of my inner circle is LGBTQ. Half of them are here because they were passing through at some point for whatever reason, and just never left. They were home. It's not perfect by any means, but I think we have an exceptionally inclusive community. Im happy to be part of it. I think the same can be said in San Diego or LA, I have close friends living happily in both. If you're not a dick they will.

  11. If this was just one off the shelf someplace you'de shrug it off. This was missed, got past whatever QC they have at that plant, all the way to being featured on their website... a d its still there! If it was just a one off hanging on a rack somewhere you'd just suggest it off. On the partscasters I've built, and for the replacement tuners I installed on a G-Force'd Gibson, I have a method. I install them with the bushings and nuts finger tight, then use this magnetic straight edge on a level I own to line everything up perfect before drilling anything. Im not mass producing or anything, but if I can come up with a simple idea like that you'd expect Fender to have a jig or something to line them up straight every single time. Its just a small off at the screw point, but transfers to a pretty significant off once you get to the actual bean tuner. Or maybe its their calculated move to get you to spend the extra dough for a Fender USA.
  12. Tonight I got to see a band I love called Repetitor, from Belgrade, play at a venue in Zagreb. It was a lucky coincidence that they were playing in Croatia while I'm here, and we still had to drive 2 hrs each way to catch them. They were incredible and a highlight of the trip.
  13. You do you, boo.
  14. I saw this someplace else, but I went to Fender's site and, sure enough, its posted there. Maybe they'll catch Gibson. https://www.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/telecaster/vintera-50s-telecaster/0149852340.html
  15. It was a brutal heat wave that finally broke a couple days ago. I thought I was gonna die during the walking tour of Dubrovnic. The sailing and dive into the water was a perfect remedy. Otherwise, delightful.
  16. We ended up doing 2 nights on Dubrovnik highlighted with a sailing charter outside the walls, spenta day exploring the coast and beaches up to Split, where we spent the evening. Got up, explored more beaches up to Zadar where we had an afternoon and suoer fun night. Drove along the coast back to Rieka Thursday. That stretch of coast is spectacular, maybe even better than the Dalmatian Coast below it. At this point I think I've visited all the main areas on the mainland, but only 2 islands. We'll probably spend more time on islands during next years trip. My thoughts, starting south. Dubrovnik - amazing tourist attraction. Ive visited a few walled cities in my travels, but nothing like Dubrovnic. That said, its cool to see, but you don't need more than a couple days there. Kinda like Venice. Split - meh. Big city with a tourist district crawling with tourists and overpriced everything. A lot of fascist/ nationalist sentiment that I was only aware of as my girlfriend points out signs, graffiti, and flags that display it. Zadar - cool as can be. Maybe my favorite spot in Croatia. Still a little grimy and local, a touch touristy in the old town but not too much, laid back. Beautiful location. I met super cool, like minded locals there. Ill be back. Rijeka - blue-collar, real. This is our home base. It can be kinda slow. Not touristy at all, but still plenty of cool places to hang out and everybody is pretty friendly. Opatija- posh. As a Californian, its like La Jolla but with a super awesome promenade along the water and a bunch of old Austro-Hangarian palaces turned into high end hotels. Great place for a honeymoon or romantic trip id think. Im sitting at a beach here typing this now. Pula - Pula was cool and real like Zadar. I also met some cool locals there when we visited last year.. The most complete of the still standing Roman Colosseums is there. Plus the coll little towns that dot the Istria Penninsula are short dsy trips away. Also, easy to get to by catamaran if you fly into Venice. Zagreb - I'm a city boy, and I love Zagreb. It has everything i need except the sea. My girlfriend is a beach girl, and she wants to get out of Zagreb as soon as we land there. Lucky for me, we have a concert there tonight at a venue that is said to be the best in Croatia - Culture Factory. Side note - if you're a music guy like me, and specifically a rocker, the New Wave / Punk scene in Yugoslavia rivaled, maybe even exceded, those in the UK and New York in the late 70s / early 80's. You'll find a ton of worthwhile old shit you've never been exposed to if you visit some record stores and talk to the people working there. That's how I discovered the band we're seeing tonight, Repetitor. They aren't an old band from that era, but definitely inspired by it. They are from Belgrade and I'm lucky that had a show scheduled in Croatia while I'm here.

  18. Agreed hula, good on you. A beautiful instrument that I've long been intimidated by. Ill almost always stick around to check out a band if I see a pedal steel set up and I've rarely been disappointed. Good move on the blues jam, it is the best way to get better fast. There's a fantastic bluegrass jam within waking distance of me very Sunday that I've intended to bring one of my Martins to for a while for the same purpose.

  23. Is the pic not showing up?
  24. A Croatia post for@Chad Fuck We got to this beach bar too late to catch the band last night, but I did inspect the gear to verify that the Telecaster is Deej approved. Live music has been the biggest disappointment of this trip. There's hardly any to be found. Not even street performers. Maybe once we get down the coast.
