  1. Watched it as well and got a little dusty in here. I agree that he was both talented and tormented but I do not think that is ultimately why he did what he did at the end. Dementia is a bitch, especially for someone that has always been brilliant, to suddenly have no control over their mind.

Jackie Nevada right?  She was a great character in the Raylan novel that Leonard wrote after the show had already started.  I wish they would have done more with her than just one episode.

Wasn't she in the following episode as well? Still, not much of a story arc but still.

I’ve gone thru 3 seasons the past couple weeks. 2 is better than 1 and 3 is better than 2.

S4 and S5 drop off a little bit but are still great. S6 finishes it off strong.

I multitask as I watch these (which has been case for all of these Marvel series on Netflix), so I completely missed these

He was asked why it had to be his way and he stated "because it is my show" while looking directly at the camera.

  5. I am to the part where Mariah and her daughter are saved by Luke and the PD from the daughter's herb shop. So far it is pretty good with a few groans along the way. Seems Deadpool is starting to rub off on all the Marvel properties somewhat, as there was one hamfisted fourth wall break in the last few episodes I watched.

As a huge King fan, it has always struck me that most of the movies prior to Shawshank, and Stand By Me before it, were not terribly faithful to the underlying books, despite King's frequent involvement.  The screenplays for 'Shank, Stand By Me, and The Green Mile were almost verbatim from the books.

Something else stands out about those books.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for.  I guess I should learn how to pronounce "Siobhan", since up until now I've always enunciated the "b".

I am of Irish (and German) ancestry and I would have done the same as you, if not for dating her. Hell, I used to pronounce gyro (the sammich) like you would in gyroscope.

I think he's asking if it's standard practice or made up for the show.

If you are talking about Shiv as short for Siobhan, yes, it is standard practice, as the name is pronounced Shiv-ahn. Dated an Irish lass with that name once, she was known as Shiv by her family/friends.

Any idea if the nickname "Shiv" has validity as a shortened version of the Irish "Siobhan", or is it just a blatant reference to a blade?

Yes, it is a shortened version. Someone even called her Siobhan once in the show.
