I think he's asking if it's standard practice or made up for the show.

If you are talking about Shiv as short for Siobhan, yes, it is standard practice, as the name is pronounced Shiv-ahn. Dated an Irish lass with that name once, she was known as Shiv by her family/friends.

Any idea if the nickname "Shiv" has validity as a shortened version of the Irish "Siobhan", or is it just a blatant reference to a blade?

Yes, it is a shortened version. Someone even called her Siobhan once in the show.

  3. Just watched Justice League off my DVR, meh outta meh. Honestly, maybe a 4/10. Stupid way to bring him back, especially with the last scene of BvS. Totally threw that away. Only positive of bringing him back was showing how he is ridiculously overpowered compared to any of the others, in their little fight.

Well, look at it this way, the University of Texas already has more wins in the Rose Bowl than 50% of the current PAC 12 that has niether won or appeared, that's pretty impressive...

(but alas, I know what you mean by the gif, so I too shall never speak of this again)

Only 4 P12 teams have more Rose Bowl wins than Bama's 4 wins(not counting our BCS game). Damned conf tie ins, it is part of Bama's bloody fight song.

As for the QB draw, don't know much about that but there has never been a better QB sneaker than one John Parker Wilson. He might not have been that good at everything else a Qb does but he usually fell forward for about three yards on every 3rd or 4th and 1.

  5. Tom is that stereotypical bottom rung on the totem pole, who cherishes his chance at putting someone on the bottom rung, to take out his frustrations upon. Unfortunately for him, he will find out why he was on that bottom rng, once his newfound whipping boy leapfrogs him.

I know it's Bama,  but I was so glad they beat Mia in the 1993 Sugar Bowl,  plus Gene Stallings was the Bama coach.

It wasn't even close,  Bama dominated the game against the #1 Hurricanes.

George Teague ripping the ball out of the Mia receivers hands was  greatness.

    Fuck Mia.

That was without Bama having much of a passing game at all. Was not the QB fault though, they designed it that way. The very next year they opened up the passing game with the same QB and he won one of the QB awards. The defense just did all the damage against the Canes. On every snap, all 11 defenders were within 3 yards of the LOS, then some would drop out right before the snap, others played a shallow zone and others blitzed. Genius defense for a one time thing. Torretta looked like a deer in headlights for most of that game. Their only TD was on a kick return.

Pretty sure the majority of that story is true or at least based on actual events. Mena was a huge story when it broke.

From what I have read, it is about 60/40, 60% true, 40% made up or changed from real events, to fit better in the movie.

  8. Death Wish remake

    OK, about a 6/10

The original at least hada main character with some experience firing weapons, even if it was during his youth. This time he teaches himself to shoot and becomes a great marksman very quickly. That is my biggest complaint. Did like the comedic twist on the bad guys death scenes, which kept me from totally panning it.

  9. I have used one before, just don't have one at home. I wonder, does it end up blowing shit particles all over the place, like lifting the lid to find particles resting upon the rim.
