  1. Those recruiter rankings often don't really tell the true story on recruitments, so what Mehringer really brought on that front might not match up with where 247 has him. I tend to agree with your assessment, but if Herman still sees him as weak link this would be the time to pawn him off as an OC to a G5 or another Rutgers. Maybe Mehringer has learned some things and is trending up as a coach and recruiter? Does @closetojumping have a pulse on the current situation?
  2. There's a lot of Meemaw that is battered...
  3. But they beat aggy in a bowl game less than a year ago, they are known giant killers. #advantageaggy
  4. What happened with him? It seems no one is that interested anymore. I don't remember anyone saying his senior film has sucked, but I would assume that would be case unless he is on the Brooks chain gang.
  5. Of course a big reason Louisville has more ticket sales and contributions is because they have been relevant over the past several years even going back to their final years in the AAC under Strong. If Purdue thinks Brohm is the guy, an extra $2-2.5M/yr will be earned back many times over in ticket sales and contributions. Not a risk-free endeavor, as you say, considering Purdue's lack of history and location. I agree they are unlikely to do it because I don't think their administration is the type to push the envelope on coaching salaries, but they are already paying Brohm $3.3M which is still ridiculous if you just look at what Purdue pays for important faculty and administrators, rather than the world of college football with out of control spending on coaches with short resumes.
  6. I would think this is where the Big 10's media money should be a factor. Purdue is getting something like $20M more a year than Louisville just from TV. What would it really hurt them to money whip him for 5 years?
  7. You are correct sir: Physically, a Smurf is usually no more than "three apples tall" (in human measure, probably around 3 inches) and has a pear-shaped body with an oval-shaped head, springy legs, and limber arms, with a short stubby tail sticking out from his or her buttocks. The springy legs allow a Smurf to jump to high places or across rocks and branches rather easily. It is estimated that a Smurf can run up to 10 feet per second and has a vertical leap of 4 to 12 inches.
  8. I imagine Hamm hustling blowjobs was a part of the reason for his divorce, not some recent money-making scheme to avoid homelessness.
  9. If he commits I am going to take it to mean no Higgins and no Bru. #AdvantageSatya
  10. It was the excuse to make every cable subscriber in the NYC metro subsidize the B10 Network. The Big 10 has a ton of alums in the metro, but you need to have a local team to drive the getaway car from the theft.
  11. In 2015, it was Michigan State that started the season in the Top 10, not Michigan. Michigan State is even lower on the blue blood pecking order than Iowa.
  12. Yeah, but that is more because they didn't even hit the polls until Week 6. If OSU or Michigan State, both of whom started the season in the Top 10, played Iowa's schedule they would have been in the playoff discussion throughout the season and would have survived a loss and still made the playoffs because of where they started.
  13. Not going to watch a talking head...Iowa didn't get to the finish line, so we'll never know if they would have jumped into the playoffs. Their problems stem more from their starting point than their schedule. If OSU, Michigan, or Penn State played their schedule, even the talking heads wouldn't suggest they don't belong due to SOS. In fact, Wisconsin would probably be in the top 4 if they were undefeated and their schedule hasn't been that much harder than Iowa's up to this point. (OK, Michigan has proven itself a much better team than PSU, but both teams would have gone into the CCG having faced only two teams that were ranked at the time they played.)
  14. Meh. They have made a lot of money with the adds. There are now two more potential wins to add to the win totals of whichever Big 10 programs are at the top of the heap. The bottom of the Big 10 is so crappy, even having only 3 OOC games isn't a huge problem in protecting the records of their top teams. Their huge alumni base$ ensure that SOS will never be used by the playoff committee to judge a Big 10 team, so the diluted quality of football just makes playoff access even easier. Everyone says Penn State is now a nationally relevant program, but at this point in Year 5, James Franklin has won the same number of regular season games over ranked teams as Charlie Strong did at Texas in 3 years (5 games). He has also in Year 5 faced the same number of ranked teams in the regular season as Strong did in 3 years at Texas (15 games). No one ever says anything about the shitty SOS of a Big 10 team.
  15. Wait, are you saying I have panicked in vain over Kenyatta Watson II?
  16. No, in Year 8 they win 10 (though still finish 3rd in the West) and beat a BFD team in a bowl game. Jimbo gets another $60M guaranteed for 5 additional years and he never hits 10 wins in a season again.
  17. More importantly, did he need stitches and have a dislocated shoulder before the trainers saw him?
  18. Should have gone this route, but now he'll just get hired by Saban and have another P5 coordinator gig in 2 years.
  19. First, can't believe Durkin walks away with a dime, what a fucking crock. If this isn't 'cause' then they might as well just not bother adding that clause to a contract. Why don't they just Mike Leach him and let him try to get a dime? It's not like another coach won't willingly step into the breach...sure hasn't hurt Tech from hiring coaches and Leach didn't do anything comparable. The BOR should be fired and the students, Dr. Loh, and the McNair family should be allowed to tar, feather and run those sons of bitches off campus on a rail.
  20. You forgot the regular visits from Meemaw with cash money.
